  1. no, i don't. i was an astros fan then (as i have been since 1985) and there isn't a moment in my life where even for a moment I can even conceive of the notion of rooting for the st. louis fucking cardinals of all teams. especially not in 2011. would have much rather seen the rangers win than the cardinals (or the giants for that matter). 😉 i suspect they all had themselves a hell of a fun night...deservedly so.
  2. lol, check out all the spunk from the rangers and cardinals fans! love it... don't think i have ever actually met a real life rangers fan so didn't know it was even a thing. congrats to the rangers for winning the AL pennant...it's a fun experience. good luck in the w.s. utterly insane that the astros have now played a seven game world series and a seven game alcs without winning a home game. that is baffling.
  3. This post clearly turned everything around. Good job, good effort time to turn into a home team as well.
  4. tying in with the whole criteria for best guitarists between technical proficiency and creating music that moves you...i saw billy strings live at moody this past summer and while that guy's speed and ability to play is other worldly and just mind-blowing...i genuinely cannot think of another concert in my life where i was more bored and just counting down the minutes until i could leave after the novelty of the playing was gone a few songs in.
  5. most relevant use of a compression pedal is to keep things within a certain dynamic range at the end of the day (though it does have some more nuanced uses as well). i think it adds the most value to mediocre to poor guitarists like myself that aren't the best in controlling their strum/picks in an even and consistent way. if i am wailing away and i hit the strings with an attack of 30/127 (to borrow a midi term) on one and then 127/127 on the next, it will sound kind of shitty. what the compressor does is take those and move them both to closer to 65/127 so it has a more even sound throughout regardless of my right arm's behavior...a cleaner, clearer sound if you will. however, if you are a very good guitarist, you probably don't need it so much for that purpose and if you want a really wide dynamic range in the playing, it will hamper your ability to achieve that. i use the standard mxr dyna comp at the front of my old school signal chain probably 80% of the time.
  6. i am not in the business of hating when it comes to other people's musical efforts or abilities, but i can assure you that both goredho and celery man can both perform those solos with relative ease if you give them a few days. i suspect tbone probably could as well.
  7. PG was great in Austin last night. A little different juice from the London show but had an up close perspective last night that was awesome. Manu brought it and Levin was great as always. IMG_5330.mov IMG_5336.mov
  8. this is a road team all the way...time to turn this bitch around.
  9. fucking love the edge in a way that most on this site do not. he's not a better guitarist than mark. him being 96 may be the stupidest single entry on this.
  10. a fisherman always spots another fisherman from afar. or in this case, a corrupt, autocratic, rights violating and fucked up government always spots another corrupt, autocratic, rights violating and fucked up government from afar.
  11. have you ever wanted to power strum one chord and let the six minute decay begin, set your guitar down for a little feedback, walk over to the other side of the room, and play something along with it on the piano or drums? because that's the perfect setup for doing so.
  12. jack white is definitely making a run at being the new joe bonamassa in the sense of an insane amount of digital ink being spilled over their merits as a guitarist/musician/etc... for someone i could not care less about. in the case of joe b, i literally had never heard of him before this site. in the case of jack white, i have never heard a song by the white stripes in my life that made me think "i need to hear that again, that was awesome." not hating on jack white, don't really care. but i definitely am not a fan of the musical stylings coming from the white stripes. it was cool during the euros in 2012 when the fans started the whole seven nation army stadium chant theme. other than that, the biggest "meh" of all time. as for fuzz, hate on electroharmonix all you want but i love my big muff...paired with a tube screamer or klon and a reverb/delay pedal through my fender 59 bassman, it is my favorite hard rock tone of all time (that i can make). for today's outrage at the assault on human decency from the r.s. controversy-generation list, gibbons at 102, stevie vai at 127, and bill frisell at 154 feel a little offensive.
  13. That WR that just caught that TD for huskies is from Lufkin, Tx.
  14. This is a hell of a response drive from ducks.
  15. So pumped for this game. Should be a great one.
  16. Between that one and the two blatant ones at the point of attack that weren’t called against ou last week, I’m starting to wonder if it is still against the rules to tackle a runner by the facemask.
  17. If you guys start doing cheese puns, I’m out.
  18. i was being sarcastic about deej's post. i used the middle pic that actually is RJ.
  19. Damnit, that's the one i used for my little RJ silly tune.
  20. get it right...that idiotic mythology goes: "when asked what it is like to be the world's best guitarist...clapton said 'ask prince.'" list totally invalidated by not having @Goredho and @Celery Man in the top 50 imo.
  21. you probably just need to check the manufacturer of your mixer to see if they have a driver update for osx sonoma. any time you do one of the major osx updates from one name to another, you are usually going to slightly jack with those. it usually takes all the plugin and hardware companies about a month to update their software to play nice...so it is a good idea to wait for a month or two before updating your mac to new osx version if you are using it heavily for music.
  22. You knew it was coming...as will all the eye rolls of the lists' perceived slights and errors. But regardless... https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/best-guitarists-1234814010/chuck-berry-14-1234814185/ getting the outrage controversy started...my submission is the notion of SRV at 20 behind some of the people in front of him is silly. i will go ahead and voice @BrickHorn's outrage of prince being 14 even thought it is one i'd probably agree with.

you do make a fair point that there are an infinite number of alternative realpolitik paths that...frankly, would end much better than the current path. the u.s., the e.u., and the gulf states could impose some good alternatives. but it would be necessary to engage at a rational and practical level for those and that's simply not realistic in the short-term unfortunately given the impassioned moral and ideological states of the belligerents. unfortunately, those are the choices once a direct response is executed. in any alternative you propose that isn't simply idealistic, there is certainly suffering.

of course it does. maybe brisket's hyper-emotional and dramatic language characterizing a revelations like battle for the soul of humankind confuses it, sure...but there remains a legitimate inquiry. you've been ruthlessly attacked by an aggressor. that aggressor strategically retreats behind civilians. you hold categorically that above all things, no civilians can be harmed. you're then faced with the inquiry...accept the violence perpetrated and say sorry as chainsaw has suggested or respond in-kind with violence knowing civilians will be inevitably harmed as brisket suggests?
