  1. both goals very much deserved for chinese milan but american milan really is getting hosed quite a bit by the ref. kind of an anti-italian match. they are getting literally elbowed in the face and going down and the ref is like "get up bitch."
  2. this milan game is off to a weird and ugly start. teams are too hyped.
  3. hope he found his orchard of peaches... rip.
  4. mojames dumpster diving inspired me to go back through the early days of the thread. @Firemans4Horn, if Arsenal achieve another point in its last three games, it is mathematically impossible for them to finish more than 12 points off of city. whenever arsenal draws or wins, you can contribute the $50 to central texas meals on wheels (https://www.mealsonwheelscentraltexas.org/). please make it in the name of "klopp is a whiny bell end." thx.
  5. indeed. on the golden crashes track i've posted, i recorded the bass using a mic and guitar amp with a base level outboard compressor (pre-1176 acquisition). but honestly, i sculpted the tone by sticking the stock bass amp designer in logic on the channel with the audio. it's pretty damned good. it was also pretty critical in getting an even tone between the recorded parts and then the midi licks i added in so one doesn't go "wtf" when listening to it.
  6. feel free to drop it off at my house if you're going to just leave it in a closet for 15 years. i will give that fat bottom girl you've been neglecting some lovin.
  7. timely. @Paul Wesley was kind enough to get me hooked on the the tech 21 sans amp bass driver last week...really goes a long way imo. we were direct monitoring it in studio and it was a remarkable difference. https://reverb.com/p/tech-21-sansamp-bass-driver-di-2000s-black
  8. everyone in the relegation race is rooting for southampton today. it brings them somewhat into the fold as well but with forest's remaining schedule, they would be in serious trouble. after today, the relegation battle teams have the following schedules... everton: city, wolves, bournemouth. forest: arsenal, chelsea, palace. leeds: newcastle, west ham, spurs. leicester: liverpool, newcastle, west ham. southampton: fulham, brighton, liverpool.
  9. last two wins in league have been against arsenal and brighton so...i mean, why not?
  10. what the ever loving fuck is going on in brighton, england?
  11. choking away a 3-0 halftime lead to condemn themselves to championship would be the most everton thing of all time.

  13. I never posted this because I was too embarrassed by my g.a.s. and after my bold proclamation earlier in this thread that I wasn’t stupid enough to spend the money on real pre’s and compressors for a stupid home studio…but I’m stupid and did it anyway. Went with the FET after playing with both (it and LA2A) emulators for a long time and don’t regret it. Grabbed a neve 1073 as well which I not only don’t regret, but fully embrace it because it’s awesome. and then after listening to mixes in a proper setting last night, I’m back to furious with myself because I have no idea what I’m doing apparently.
  14. To be clear, I’m not saying that’s the ultimate mic choice for guitar, it was just the Paul very generously let me come shoot the mics I actually own with various instruments in a proper studio setting with proper room tuning and monitoring and minimal intervention beyond a little preamp normalization for the ribbon relative to the others so that I could leverage that knowledge for myself going forward based on the sound. though a combination mic job of the 121 and an sm57 is so commonplace on guitar, they actually sell a specific clip for that combo. And…not gonna lie, even through my shitty chord strumming last night, I liked how complete a sound that combo was reading the last few comments, both of you need to listen to that podcast I linked above. It is basically a never ending rotation of people giving their subjective hot takes on why an API and Neve board were better for tracking and SSL is better for mixing. Or why a bricasti m7 is so much better or worse than Valhalla and other modeled verbs and if you aren’t monitoring on two ton atc’s you’re wasting your time. It’s gearspace with humor and without the endless supply of utterly shitty people with their constant hostility.
  15. i recommended podcast this to paul wesley last night while we were doing a "what does terrible guitar playing from sidis sound like" mic showdown at his studio. (royer r-121 beat out u87, km84, km184, sm57, and sm7b for guitar, u87 won for bass...barely) it is a podcast that two amusing guys from musictech mag do where they make guests pick, on top of a computer, daw, and audio interface...six pieces of hardware or software gear that they could have (and be limited to) in their "forever" studio. some of you fellow dorks might enjoy it. it has a heavy edm vibe amongst the guests but some of them are really good and it is interesting hearing the gear picked reflect the role of the guest. https://musictech.com/shows/podcasts/my-forever-studio/
  16. i think i misconstrued something earlier. that's the right plan. assuming you start in cagliari, i would spend a day there, then take a day to drive to orosei (which takes like an hour and a half max straight but there are solid stops along the way) and spend a couple of days boating there. cala goloritze, cala fuili, cala luna. if you want a change of pace, i would drive to the northwest and base out of sassari and check out the parks and beaches up there as well. sassari will feel a little bit closer to being on mainland italy. beautiful piazze everywhere and probably the best and most native food experience on the island. very close to la pelosa which is worth checking out as a contrast to orosei and for people watching. depending on what time of year though, it can get a bit packed. in my opinion, a stop at san giovanni di sinis on the way back south is worth it as well. if your kids are not at least teenagers, i would leave them at home.
  17. i haven't watched it yet but regarding the negative feedback on this page, i did see on my feed that the episode was partly written by my favorite all time british woman keeley hazell. i did not know my favorite all time british woman was a writer. i'll just leave that there.
  18. software: uhe zebra and diva are my go to. hard to beat it. i like serum as well like basically everyone. i have countless, countless other ones including ni's massive, reaktor, etc... of all the major ones out there, the only one i haven't really used as much is omnisphere. just haven't really had occasion. on hardware, cs-80 or go home. kidding. i'd take a juno 106, jupiter 8, prophet 5, or minimoog as well. i recommend to anyone that is just starting out with softsynth to start with serum because it is as close as possible to teaching you how to actually work the shit which is kind of an important step unless you just want to prince your way through the presets (nttawt).
  19. yeah, there's lots of rib boat rental places. you would probably be fine but it depends on what you are looking for in terms of time and how much you want to see by water. if you want to do a series of eastern/northeastern coastal beaches, you're gonna need something more substantial than a rib/zodiac. i recommend the idea of chartering with a local captain because 1) there is more to navigate there than most think and 2) better local knowledge. that said, there are some pretty good deals out there for doing it yourself. it just depends on the horsepower in terms of whether you can rent it yourself. the rib boats are obviously for anyone to rent. we did it ourselves and got a boat in villasmius...to be honest, it has been a while but i believe we got it through https://www.pickandboat.com/en/home-english/ assuming you are starting in cagliari, it will be easy. there isn't a coastline part of sardinia that isn't incredible. the gulf of orosei is hard to beat. cala goloritze on the south end of the gulf was my favorite beach. i never wanted to leave. it's a perfect mix of tahiti (for water), kauai (for dramatic surroundings), and the cote d'azur (for vibe) as weird as it is to say. everyone knows costa smerelda and for good reason. you won't be disappointed but trust me on cala goloritze...worth the effort. don't sleep on the northwest and west part of the island as well. more remote, fewer people, and fucking unbelievable shit man. look in to is aruttas on the sinis peninsula and la pelosa if you are up for a trip. pure heaven...especially if you have a boat. it will be a great trip.
  20. back to an orchestral and piano mockup. this is another one that was somewhat commissioned. friend is doing a film project based on monarch butterflies that i won't bore you with. anyway, he needed a score to a 6 minute longshot in which there is first flight and a bunch of sappy dramatic stuff that happens. so here is that mockup. not terribly pleased with how the cello is sitting in the mix in the second half and getting its vibrato knocked out by something clashing but i was sick of messing with the mockup and will worry about it in recording and mixing the recorded strings.
  21. Those are ideal goals to align with a trip to sardinia. It is unbelievably beautiful. There are some inconveniences that are exacerbated moreso regarding typical infrastructure needs relative to even corsica but if you are there with the right goals and attitude, you will find very few places better. one thing to keep in mind is that it is comparable to east texas or alabama in terms of incest on the island. though it is a larger island than most people think it is. there are a ton of festivals throughout the year...basically like every other day and i would not limit yourself to beaches entirely. there are a lot of great places inland but public transport isn't a reliable option like on the mainland.
  22. gonna go ahead and start the 2023-2024 Championship thread for yoladu and me. See you assholes later...
  23. if everton wants any chance of not getting relegated, then today's throwdown is a must win. anything else and it is hello championship. they will be proper fucked.
  24. or have an amazing, hero friend who is already in on the VIP list for all things PJ that can hook you up with a +1 on the floor...
  25. i would actually argue that it is not that bad an outcomes for everton as it keeps both of them in striking distance. a win one way or another keeps one of them really close but this keeps them both "down." given leeds' remaining schedule, i think if everton is going to survive relegation, it is more likely to be at leeds' expense than leicester but given that everton are about to get buttfucked by newcastle, meh.
