  1. @Shoxthemonkey, PG announced the first leg of the north american tour. apparently more are coming including three stops in texas. https://petergabriel.com/news/i-o-the-tour-north-american-shows-announced/
  2. i meant to post this in my original response but i busted this out last night working on some stuff and it reminded me to point you to it in case you were not familiar. universal audio did a digital emulator of the the various la2a's that have always been a bit of a hassle because not only are they the ultimate cpu hogs, but they required ua hardware to actually run. just a year or two ago, they finally released a version that worked with most daws independently. anyway, it is pretty sweet and (relatively) cheap if you want to check it out. they have a 14 day trial as well. https://www.uaudio.com/uad-plugins/compressors-limiters/teletronix-la-2a-collection.html they also did their 1176 limiters (though i still prefer the izotope products for this). https://www.uaudio.com/uad-plugins/compressors-limiters/1176-collection.html
  3. On the topic of drawing, just did this one tonight of my relatively new nephew for my sister. Kid has a huge noggin
  4. look man, i may disagree with brick's insane opinion above...but if you think that natalie is hotter than that one sand snake chick that gave bronn a nearly fatal boner or the chick that played missandei, you need to get your head examined.
  5. i figured someone would bring this as a response...there are of course a number of solos that could have been posted. the creep solo stands out, his solo from the induction to the h.o.f. if you can find someone that can compose that line in a way that drives the rhythm at the same time it cries...perfect throws, an amazing musical moment that requires execution talent...oh, and be able to do it with all the lights on in a moment that tributes to a beatle with a fresh take on a song that helped cement eric clapton's legacy as a great guitar player. good luck a thousand guys in nashville. oh, by the way, now walk over and play the drums, the piano, and the bass at an expert level as well. lol, now you're just trolling... eric clapton: "true genius" billy gibbons: "sensational guitarist, downright otherworldly" elton john: "probably the greatest musician i have ever seen live on stage." paul mccartney: "he's my favorite act, he's innovative, plays great guitar" jeff beck: "in awe, amazing guitarist" eddie vedder: "prince was probably the greatest guitarist we have ever seen." paul westerburg: "I can't think of anyone better — an all-around composer, musician, guitarist, star, showman, the whole package, anyone better." stevie vai: "i adore frank zappa. i really love prince." joe bonamassa: "a master." bob dylan: in response to whether or not prince was talented "yeah, he's a boy wonder." dave grohl: "he was the best guitar player." miles davis: "he can be the new duke ellington of our time." robert plant: "prince is probably the most impressive single person" bruce springsteen: "when i'd go to see [prince], i’d say, ‘oh, man, ok, back to the drawing board." nile rodgers: "He was an extraordinary virtuoso, and it made me feel like a million dollars to play with someone who is that talented." tom petty: "you see me nodding at him, to say, ‘go on, go on.’ i remember i leaned out at him at one point and gave him a ‘this is going great!’ kind of look. he just burned it up. you could feel the electricity of ‘something really big’s going down here.'” and on and on... brickhorn from surlyhorns: "so fucking basic." but sure, opinions are what they are so rock on.
  6. i tried to come up with something more insane than these and really struggled. best i could come up with is "bach is complete trash that did not understand music theory and did not influence western music in the least bit." i will give that prince created an oeuvre that is far too large and thus, contains a ton of mediocre stuff...particularly with the new power generation imo. but that dude was a fucking musical savant in every sense both writing and performing. was he a douche a lot? yes. was he self-important? yes. is his music for everyone? no. but if there are a thousand guys in nashville right now that can run circles around his performance with a guitar (or anything else for that matter) - particularly under the bright lights in front of a zillion people on stage, then i am declaring myself a better performer than jimi hendrix and a better composer than tchaikovsky, brahms, and beethoven combined.
  7. So much amateur crap from this team over and over. It’s getting frustrating. Still early days but come on.
  8. Come on Horns. This could be a season momentum turner.
  9. Fucking great rock song.
  10. Good stuff tbone, thanks for sharing.
  11. Honestly, sounds pretty good. Quite the boost. In the name of science, I think @Horn Dogg should send his klon over to me so that a proper A/B/X comparison can be done for the ultimate determination of any material difference based on the board’s review. I’ll send him back whichever one the board determines sounds better.
  12. I think you got something to work with here for sure.
  13. Definitely thought it was a cover of Bombtrack at first.
  14. That is awful. Shocking. His poor family.
  15. FWIW

    That guitar tone

i of course would probably have endless amendments to this but a couple that have come to mind that should have been on the original list... knopfler's tone on the money to nothing motif (and by extension, the zz top sound). i'm guessing everyone's heard the legend from musician magazine of knopfler reaching out to billy gibbons to try and emulate them for the tone on money for nothing and gibbons famously saying that knopfler did a pretty good job considering he "never told him a god damned thing." anyway, that tone is pretty awesome. clean crunch. tried many times to get it right...allegedly a tube screamer, digital delay, and the right marshall amp. the ideal reverb/delay mix for the tone in explosions in the sky's "your hand in mine." love that sound.
  17. ugh, fixed. less impact now though.
  18. well, i really like my (new build) big muff a whole bunch so... fixed.
  19. no doubt that the fuzz defines the tone but fwiw, the fender amp settings were precisely the same on the plucks at the beginning as they were in the chug and despite some compression in the mix/master that occurred normalizing it quite a bit, it felt a billion times louder without losing clarity. eta: thanks by the way.

  21. if you want to hear what the mini ts sounds like, the second half (the power chug) of the golden crashes track i just put up in the share your music thread is comp->TSmini->Big Muff (with admittedly a decent amount of post-processing). the dreamy first half is the comp->ethereal (my fav pedal that is a combo delay/reverb).
  22. You are making my poor little tube screamer mini feel inadequate (though I did just get a ceriatone centura off reverb to test it this week).

    That guitar tone

basically everything the edge did between 1981 and 1991. i have been on a quest to recreate the tone from exit and mothers of the disappeared for years. prince's lead tone in his while my guitar gently weeps cameo. i've got my eyes on you and pearl cadillac lead tone for verses to fuzz chorus from gary clark jr. the forgotten (both part 1 and 2) from satriani. mick taylor's in midnight rambler. bring it on home to me...the perfect expression of that clean tone that connotes unreal blues from b.b. king. i've spent a little bit of money trying to recreate srv's coily low end tone on little wing.
