  1. So you mistook my original FIFY of South Austin's quote to include his entire statement or everything about Sam. I guess I could have been less ambiguous by isolating that portion of the quote initially, but figured the strike-through and italics were sufficiently clear what I was emphasizing. It's what stood out to me when I first read it. The book on Quinn isn't totally written yet. We've seen him play great before. He needs to find his way back to that version of himself.
  2. Quinn in no way, shape or form has greater fire and mental toughness than Sam. It is laughable to suggest otherwise. You can argue what I didn't claim, that he's a better passer when he isn't wilting under pressure. There's no doubt he is blessed with greater arm talent and has a higher ceiling. But to claim he has more moxy, fire or mental toughness? Those qualities oozed from Sam's pores. Hopefully Quinn is working his way back into that zone where he just focuses and plays with confidence. When he's there, our offense is virtually unstoppable. I hope he gets his mojo back and will rejoice as much as any longhorn when he does.
  3. FIFY. Not bashing Quinn either but it's simply not debatable.
  4. This same thought occurred to me as a possibility earlier when Quinn proponents state that if Arch were the better choice, he'd have already made the switch. Quinn is the safer choice even if it doesn't pan out. Of course, none of us truly know Sark's mind on the matter, but I have no doubt that he will make the switch if push comes to shove, just as he did for that brief period against Georgia. There was nothing to lose and no one except a fool would criticize him in that case. Quinn to me is like a Ferrari that is complicated and delicate to tune. Some loose wire or spring-loaded screw isn't just where it needs to be. It sputters along, occasionally catches throttle and takes off for a bit. But oh boy, if you can get it in the sweet spot, watch that baby go! Here's to hoping Quinn gets his mojo back and settles into his groove. Because if he does, our offense really is unstoppable.
  5. Which is the maddening part... His best rifled throws are straight down the middle, typically to the TE but not always. We've seen it with JT and Gunner. Moore's dropped TD pass as well. I think it's because that throw is practiced with proper mechanics and really the only way to do it, but he tends to float them more when more towards the sidelines.
  6. You didn't even respond to the points already made before you went ballistic with your fuck you negs. While Vagisil can't cure what ails thee, it might help to ease some of your symptoms ... counselor.
  7. I wouldn't call our defense dominant. It's pretty good, but I'd say that it's questionable whether they can hold up against playoff teams if our offense is languishing for several quarters. Arkansas was marching down the field until they fumbled and doing it both passing and running. But hopefully they will continue to improve and peak down the stretch. They are certainly playing well enough for us to win if our offense gets better. And to do that, Quinn simply HAS to do better than he has been. And maybe he will.
  8. I've not really been arguing Arch should be the starter so much as counterbalancing what I take to be unchallenged assertions by Quinn advocates. It's a legitimate discussion to be had because the answer as to who should be the starter since the first half of Georgia wasn't straightforward at all. For sure, if a switch to Arch were to be made, it would have been far better to have done so in that game and stick with it to allow him to develop and be ready for the final stretch. It's a much dicier situation at this juncture. As you say, and as I have posted several weeks ago, the decision isn't ours to make anyways.
  9. Why don't you try reading my posts on the subject just a few above yours. As for beating Quinn out in practice, this isn't a fall camp competition situation. And Quinn doesn't have to worry about contact in practice. Football games are played full contact, not 7 on 7. I don't need to prove to you that your statement was ridiculous. It was and you can accept that or not.
  10. What a ridiculous statement. Nothing wrong with arguing Quinn should be the starter, but you need to be a little more convincing with your argument counselor ...
  11. And by the same token, had Arch been playing since Georgia, he would have been developing, and he'd be better prepared by now. Likewise, it assumes he hasn't developed any simply from practicing and the passage of time since then. The whole crux of this matter is Quinn's poor performance.
  12. I'm picking your quote here to chime in on, but my statement applies to other posters here as well. Arch was inserted into a very intense game cold without having repped with the ones as the game's presumed starter. OK, such is the life of the backup. And obviously, he is a work in progress. But you cannot say with certainty that he would have played the rest of the game exactly as his first few possessions leading into halftime had Sark chosen to keep him in the game coming out of it. That is pure speculation being asserted by many of you. He may well have adjusted, settled in and found his sea legs so to speak. Or possibly not. But don't pretend like it's a given that he wouldn't of and possibly made a better game of it. He's a competitor, Sark would have been coaching him and his ability to extend plays are pluses that can't be so easily discounted.
  13. Was pulling for Cook to develop. Too bad he didn't get after it the way Moore did. The picture sure changed for those two.
  14. I think the crux of the matter is poise and let's just omit the word pocket. It's not where it should be in year three. Pointing this out isn't shitting on Quinn and yes this overall game was great for us, but the concern is legitimate against better teams who can bring greater pressure and whose offenses can put us in a hole while ours languishes. Hopefully, this game helped to right his rudder going forward. Likewise, the OL needs to get better. We have some dudes with high ratings that get discombobulated too often in pass pro. Namely, Williams and Campbell.
  15. No. Georgia isn't either. But that doesn't stop some sports writers and commentators from referring to them as such.
  16. He showed he's a good inside runner early on this season. He just needs to continue developing his pass and ball protection.
  17. So long as he learns to protect the ball. He needs to put in some serious work on that. Stan Drayton was much better at coaching ball protection than Tashard Choice.
