  1. @Hayduke's recent posting of District 1's Quad City along with the timely arrival of Real Ale's sampler 6-packs mentioned by @utee94 brings this posting. I was salivating at the sight of that pic of Quad City and thoughts of a Belgian Quadrupel. I must say, it's about damn time one of Real Ale's sampler 6-packs finally showed up. I've had my eyes peeled for quite the while, but only their 12 packs have been here. First world problems ... Real Ale Brewing - Black Quad / Quadrupel Trappist-Inspired Ale, 10.5% Alc. 👍
  2. Ayinger - Altbairisch Dunkel / Authentic Bavarian Dark Lager, 5.0 Alc. 👍
  3. Another of Saint Arnold - Spring Bock, 6.9% Alc. Just a nicely balanced, good beer any time of the year if it were available so.
  4. Weihenstephaner - Original Premium Lager, 5.1% Alc. Thumbs up.
  5. Being the beer thread, this comment hearkens me back to days of yore as a student at Texas. DoubleDave's had a rather impressive selection of brews at their location just north of campus, which I don't recall exactly where it was now. But looking at DoubleDave's locations map, appears to no longer exist. OK, a little more sleuthing reveals it was changed at some point from DoubleDave's Pizzaworks to The Varsity Pizza and Pints, and was closed in April, 2020 per Eater Austin. It was located at 3000 Duval St. I was in Simkins Residence Hall which was changed to Creekside Residence Hall somewhere along the way.
  6. Weltenburger Kloster - Asam Bock, 7.3% Alc. Weltenburg Abbey brewery (Weltenburger Klosterbrauerei) is by some reckonings the oldest monastic brewery in the world, having been in operation since 1050,[2]: 30  although the title is disputed by Weihenstephan Abbey. - Weltenburg Abbey - Wikipedia Malty, tasty, classic. They misspelt Awesome.Thumbs up.
  7. I've not been to Spoetzl Brewery and wouldn't know about the keg. Perhaps someone else here does.
  8. I agree. It is excellent. Haven't really given thought to which of theirs I'd name best. I really like Commissar and Real Heavy too, but all three are superb in their own right. Have not been disappointed with any of their offerings tried yet.
  9. Real Ale Brewing - Devil's Backbone, 8.1% Alc. Reminds of Celis Grand Cru from back in the day, but not quite as intense as memory serves. Real Ale continues to impress. Thumbs up.
  10. This one has my interest. Their Black Chocolate Stout is excellent.
  11. Double Feature: Jester King - Commercial Suicide and Bloodpact Thumbs down for both and won't be trying anything else from Jester King. Commercial Suicide was similar to previously posted Cerveza Indio. Of the two, I'd favor Indio, but it was meh. Of course, your mileage may vary.
  12. Rescue Dawn It's about a U.S. navy pilot (played by Christian Bale) who get's shot down in Vietnam. Based on a true story, action and fighting plays a fairly minor role in the film, which is probably why it wasn't a box office hit. I found it a good movie and worth the watch, but it's not on the level of something like Saving Private Ryan.
  13. Real Ale Brewing - Commissar Russian Imperial Stout, 9.8% ABV Another excellent brew by Real Ale Brewing. I'm really impressed with this one and their Real Heavy Scotch Ale. Likewise, they are both an excellent value for potent brews at 1 pint + 3.2 oz. See HEB shelf display below. With three HEB Central Markets in easy driving distance, now are the good 'ole days.
  14. I thought EJ Barthel just got a raise and extended his contract with Nebraska.
  15. Oven toasted sourdough sub roll with smoked turkey, ham, pastrami, salami, provolone, monterey jack, chopped red onion & poblano, lettuce and tomato, mustard and mayo. Founders Porter in the mug.
  16. Could definitely use a pay boost. So what you're trying to say is, that guy fucks. Some press conference samples of these guys:
  17. Let's not leave out Nike in the list of depraved scumbag douchewaffle's here. Fuck them. If they want their stupid swoosh to be seen, they can provide some fucking stickers instead of bitching about stupid shit like that. Morons all of them. Oh look, the scumbag lawyer thinks $5.25 million wasn't a large enough award for wrongful termination.
  18. Should add Michigan and Alabama. Prior to going out in his first game with Alabama, he was dealing in that one too.
  19. Genealogy may not be your mom’s friend. 😉
  20. Founders Porter. Went down really well with a homemade sub sandwich. Oven toasted sourdough sub roll with smoked turkey, ham, pastrami, salami, provolone, monterey jack, chopped red onion & poblano, lettuce and tomato
  21. Sullivan's Brewing Co. - Maltings Irish Ale
  22. I like to think I pay close attention to the recruiting goings on, as much as I can, anyway. I trust your information, Sydney, so I have to assume that Harris completely fucked up a recruitment for Baker. Hope it isn't too late for the two new hires (Joe and Dunson) to provide a firewall between Harris and the coaches. I surely hope it's not a thing. Losing Baker would suck. Could someone elaborate about issues with Brandon Harris?
