  1. They finally got his bio (sans pic) up on the roster: Kenny Baker Bio - Texassports.com
  2. Klaus Brewing Doppelsticke - Imperial Altbier Style Ale This one's a winner in my book.
  3. I agree, blue chip DL are a limited supply and most of his recruits you listed align with my statement that Davis has an eye for developmental prospects -- a very valuable trait to have. Hoping Baker has it too. Bledsoe is a tricky one. If he can put on enough good weight he could be great. I like January and Hill as well. Really hoping we can hold on to Brandon Brown too.
  4. I've had this one since not sure exactly ... circa 2005-2007. The grind collection cup broke about 10 years ago. I replaced it with one of those wide, fat coffee mugs sometimes used to serve stew. Works great. In fact, I like using the mug better than the original grinder cup. What I like about it is it's robust, durable and the grind is consistent, adjusted by a mechanical dial. Cons would be, it's large, definitely not quiet (not a problem for me, but might be for some. It isn't obnoxious like a blender though) and certainly isn't cheap. Wasn't when I bought it either, but I think inflation has added another $100 since I got mine. 5. Yes, it's not an exact comparison, but each had 1 yr as an assistant DL coach in the NFL, then a P5 DL coach job. And apparently both learned from Pete Jenkins to some varying degree. The difference is, Kenny Baker coached DL for 7 years split between Mercer (4 years), Chattanooga (1 year) and WKU (2 years) prior to his NFL assistant coaching stint. I'm mildly encouraged by that, but only time will tell. COACHING CAREER 2010-12: Lakeside HS (Defensive Coordinator) 2013: Berry College (Co-Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers) 2014-18: Mercer (Defensive Line) 2019: Chattanooga (Defensive Line) 2020: WKU (Defensive Ends) 2021-2022: WKU (Defensive Line) 2023: Miami Dolphins (Assistant DL Coach)
  6. I didn't see this posted elsewhere, but FCB has an article saying Kenny Baker was mentored by Pete Jenkins. I did a search for Pete Jenkins and found the following post by bar earlier in this thread: Sources: New Texas defensive line coach Kenny Baker is an 'elite teacher' with NFL experience Article below.

  8. Exactly. From our outside perspective, we can hope he soaked up everything he could about DL coaching while in Miami, and he does have experience coaching DL for several years, albeit not at the P5 level. He's got potential and time will tell. Recruiting wise, I take some comfort that he is surrounded by great recruiters on staff that can help guide him. Hope he can keep Brandon Brown from jumping ship.
  9. Bo didn't exactly knock it out of the park as a recruiting rainmaker while here. He developed well, and seems to have an eye for guys with upside, but the DL cupboard is not overflowing with blue chips right now. He might do better at LSU since they have a natural advantage with in-state talent though.
  10. Nah, he talks to this one DL trainer all the time and had him on the YT show a couple times before the meltdown. Forgot his name but probably that guy. All the same, he should have cited his source. It comes off as cheerleading, just like Blake Munroe's comment about "his SEC connections" over at OTF, which he later admitted was a poor choice of words when pressed on it.
  11. Certainly a possibility. Not going to watch any NFL to find out. Could have been scouted better, outmatched man-to-man or maybe just a poor defensive plan in those games. I guess my point in making the statement was, not sure one could infer from the failure whether the position coach(es) were to blame for the sudden change.
  12. Kind of odd that their DL seemed to perform well all season long, then came up short the last couple of weeks.
  13. He makes some terrific cuts to part the seas when he needs to and YAC in some of those highlights as well. Looks like the real deal to me, but as posted by some already, I hope Aledo doesn't run his wheels off.
  14. Sweat's athleticism at that weight was insane. Few could carry that much so well. Collins is currently listed at 317 lbs and Broughton at 291 lbs, and both could probably benefit by whatever they're able to add this offseason.
  15. Agree. Broughton was grossly underdeveloped coming out of high school. I'll never forget that twitter video of him working out on a Planet Fitness machine. Good grief it was pathetic. Not sure he knew what a squat or power clean was at that juncture. For all the talk around here of college S&C programs, there have been decent programs in high schools for decades. Not equivalent to current state of the art D1, but just hitting the basic lifts usually yields impressive results in kids that age. Broughton was a marshmellow. Consecutive seasons of a good training program should add incremental improvement each year. Hoping Torre Becton earns his check this offseason with all our DLs. And for Collins and Broughton, they have the added incentive of it being a contract year.
  16. A couple of them would be nice, but probably a pipe dream. Here's to hoping Aaron Bryant and Sydir Mitchell take big steps forward.
  17. Another one to put on mute. Announcer sounds like he's trying to take a shit calling that play.
  18. Who were they supposed to hire? Hiring head coaches is a always a crapshoot. It remains to be seen how it works out longterm.
  19. CJ Vogel said he's on record of saying Saban and Smart were the only coaches he'd consider to develop him. May not be written in stone, but sounds like Georgia is where he's most likely to go.
