  1. The one thing that’s different is that the actual Athletic Departments have money on the line and have to keep actual books. The power of the old bag system is that it was cheap and entirely outside the AD’s so they could simple play dumb and deny anything. Light is the best disinfectant, with both player mobility and legalizing pay people are going to way more willing to go on record and speak about that topic. Coaches and fans can now openly complain about paying players and the media will discuss it.
  2. I think a lot of people are hung up on the old concept of the Mega Class that Bama, UGA as OSU used to sign back before NIL. Where the gap between #5 and #6 was bigger than the gap between #6 and # 12
  3. If you listen to national CFB media they have developed a narrative about Texas becoming a title contending program by leveraging NIL to buy elite trench recruits and that’s what made Texas successful. There has been an extreme case of downplaying Sark’s staff and culture leading to players developing to their potential and instead they say Texas just loaded up via NIL. It’s pretty clear that tech and A&M are trying to copy that same narrative format without the critical coaching and culture leadership element.
  4. If boosters had millions of dollars to pay collectives to money whip recruits with we would have seen other programs doing what they are doing now for the last couple years. There is another source of money being tapped now that the house settlement is in effect for schools to all of a sudden start offering 2x what Texas is.
  5. How do you think I feel being a Texas and 49ers fan and getting close to winning it all but falling short. I have said this before in this thread, athletic departments are not going to be able to hide going over the Revenue cap. ADs are subject to audit and lying to auditors who have legal power to inspect your books is not the same as telling the NCAA to piss off. If ADs are blowing past the revenue cap then that means they openly have zero intention of ever following it and they’re going to be able to pay their classes to sign in December. I highly doubt we have any clarity on the revenue cap before this class is on campus.
  6. We’re in a NFL style era of championship windows, Sark has to win a title in the next two years with the roster he has built before we are in rebuild mode. I just don’t believe that Texas is going to have some late surge of flips and sign a top 3 class, that just strikes me as wish casting. Either Texas just doesn’t have the free funds to match other offers given how loaded and expensive our roster is. Or we are going to see the most epic, meltdown, drama filled plane crash if schools are the lying to the order of millions of dollars they don’t have. I really just don’t believe it’s the latter, as much as I want it to be.
  7. I just don't see how on earth an athletic department is going to hide millions of dollars in excessive revenue sharing long term. ADs can and will be audited and millions of dollars will attract the attention of regulators with actual teeth and now you're creating situations in which fines and jail time become a risk for playing games.
  8. Who has a better roster than Texas and currently has a better recruiting class?
  9. It has everything todo with NIL. Do you think that there are separate funds for roster retention and high school recruiting? The money directed towards Hill is going to reduce the funds that can be allocated towards recruiting a HS player. Schools that have a shitty roster are going to have an advantage in being able to fund their recruiting vs having to spend on retention.
  10. The “Super Bowl windows” are now part of this sport. Having guys like Hill, Collins, Wingo, Muhammad, is going to limit our ability to spend on HS recruits.
  11. Yes? OSU and Georgia both took heavy losses to the NFL draft. So far most of Texas’s draft success has come from the development guys or one year rentals that were cheap from an NIL standpoint. Banks and Worthy so far has been the only big dollar NIL player to leave Texas via the draft. There’s a reason basically every preseason prediction has both UGA and OSU behind Texas.
  12. I think at this point the majority of the bitching is about the “reporting” and OTF and IT clearly had no idea about Wesley.
  13. Someone got way the fuck out over their skis when reporting on the current state of our recruiting. Gerry, CJ and Bobby definitely deserve to catch some flak for this one because they hyped this summer recruiting season way too much.
  14. This is absolutely not true, multigenerational ag families are alive and growing. Texas is the school that’s has completely destroyed generational pipelines.
  15. We’ve got @texifornia for that.
