You're right.
These are two different groups, CFB Board of Managers and the CFP Management Committee.
Here's the CFB Selection Committee - 12 members, including one woman.
As a coach, you've got two options;
Recruit kids who you think fit your system, whatever it is
Adapt your style of play to the talent you have
I'll withhold judgment for Miller until we see how his teams evolve over the first couple of seasons. But I'm confident CDC and the BMDs will give him the necessary resources to be successful. UT has too much invested in the Moody Center not to put our best foot forward.
Yeah, but you can't blame Oats for wanting to stay with a program that he's built at a place he's revered.
CDC wasn't gonna break the bank for him. Miller's credentials are better, on paper, than Oats. He came from Buffalo for crissakes. Sometimes, teams get lucky.
Only 3 SEC jobs are historically attractive to top coaches - Kentucky, Florida, and Arkansas.
The rest of us have the same problem - football is king by a long shot. Amazing what UF has done over the years.
Who votes on the College Football Playoff rankings?
There are 13 members on the CFP selection committee. It's a collection of people with experience as coaches, players, college administrators, athletic directors and journalists. Here are the members.
Good God almighty, there are 3 women on the CFB selection committee. No comment.
The NCAA released an article trying to explain it recently, on 11/15/2025:
How the College Football Playoff works: Schedule, selections, rankings, byes and more
I can't see aggy being a Top 4 team if they lose to Texas and miss out on playing in the SEC Championship.
But, admittedly, I haven't researched how the CFB Playoff seeding actually works.
Top 4 seeds get a bye, which won't be determined until after the CCGs
Where do you anticipate aggy being seeded, assuming UT beats them on Friday and they don't participate in the SEC championship game?
And if Tech wins the Big 12 championship?
I've gotta believe PK will mix up his coverages and change up who spies Reed play-to-play.
It's been said before, but we've gotta play more inside leverage against aggy receivers bc they're killing teams with crossing routes over the middle.
IDGAF about playoff seedings for aggy or anybody else if UT doesn't qualify.
I'll watch fun/interesting match-ups, like aggy vs Tech. Otherwise, I'm playing golf or watching college basketball.
Yeah, but most of the journalists and coaches who influence the polls and rankings aren't going to look at anything but the scores. Same as it ever was. Yes, I agree the Vandy game wasn't as close as the scoreboard.
Their 1st Round opponent, in a perfect world, will be Texas Tech.
Our biggest problem is that we've got too many 1 and 2-loss SEC teams in line ahead of us. Sure, you can argue we've played a more challenging schedule and that our resume is better, but.....
Thank you.
I'm unfamiliar with Ford's work. I'll have to start looking at it more closely when picking games ATS, since I'm right at a miserable 50% win/loss YTD.
Let's say the CFB Playoff expanded to 24 teams - which I agree with BTW. Why would Sankey be "dead set against the P4 leagues getting 4 auto-qualifiers", especially if the Big 12 and ACC teams' NIL collectives are making the requisite investment into their programs? That leaves 8 at-large opportunities for the SEC to sneak in a couple more teams. This would potentially be a net gain for the SEC, IMO.
