My guess is they weren't opposed to Farmageddon specifically - they were opposed to schools having differing numbers of protected rivalries, so the compromise was in-state games only.
This reminds me of the WTF moment back in the mid-90's when the OU - Corn rivalry wasn't protected.

I think the hype is not only completely gone, but people are just basically gonna check out until Florida.
Guilty
I'm not gonna change my schedule for 3 straight tomato cans. YT highlights will suffice.

He said he was rooting for Georgia this morning. Even said it pains him to do so as a Florida alum, but Texas can't come in here and win the conference without taking lumps.
Having aggy as our state's whipping boy isn't enough for these gumps?

Stroh seemed fine but the plays at 5:05 and 7:25 scare me. Happened later in the game as well but it wasn’t as bad. Just worried that playing a guy that has that done to him consistently sets a really low floor for the OL, especially in short yardage and RZ situations. Both of those reps were against Eddrick Houston, so maybe other teams can’t replicate it, but UF and UGA can at least.
Stroh makes good initial contact with his head in the right position. He's just gotta keep his feet moving.

Just to make a counter point on this ALL THE MANNINGS played there. All had good NFL careers. Talent he played was not always great, neither was the talent he played with. His brother was the center at under 200 pounds. The blow out was to U Lab, which historically puts out a lot of talent.

Exactly, especially first game out of the shoot. There's a reason high school teams scrimmage opposing schools prior to the season starting. Don't know if the still do, but once upon a time they did.
Yep, most Texas high schools scrimmage 2 opponents unless it's changed since 2018

i saw some film from arch’s senior year and it was shocking how bad his competition was. it looked like he was facing SPC competition (southwest preparatory conference, eg st.andrews, st.stephens, regents). you’d think that any team with him on it would sleepwalk to an undefeated season and state title. i couldn’t believe that his family didn’t have him facing better competition.
He was often facing SPC-level competition. I had the same concerns initially, but thought he'd worked thru the "speed of the game" issue by Mississippi State last year. Ohio St = UGA, and he looked dazed & confused in both games.

Peyton and Eli got a ton of reps in college and each played 4 years. They both went to Newman and played 2A ball against shit competition. Arch is continuing the Manning process. Peyton and Eli are not "generational" due to their physical talents. It's what's in between the ears, and that's clearly what Arch needs to improve on at the moment, and that comes with game reps.
Arch needs to spend more time breaking down film with his uncles, including self-scouting his mechanics.

Outside of TOs and/or mass subs, I'd be shocked if any on the next 3 teams score.
They'll score in garbage time against the 2nd and 3rd teamers. Keep the starters healthy, get the young 'uns PT.

The Ohio st secondary was phenomenal with their communication and reads. It has been a minute since I’ve seen that type of execution from a secondary and it helps when they basically have Troy Polamalu jr out there. Georgia is maybe the only team that can replicate what the Ohio st secondary did. Arch still left some meat on the bone with a handful of plays. He just wasn’t seeing the field well at all. But Arch will be better going against this type of defense in the future especially if the run game holds up.
He missed a few open receivers over the middle. He only completed one pass between the hashes.

Wasn’t Peyton a true freshmen ?
Yeah, the guys above pointed that out. OB is trying to find a silver lining in Arch's performance for us to cope.
I bought it.

It’s impossible to lose the SEC Championship Game and be 9-3
* 10-3
10-2 before losing the championship

IMO, the only way a 9-3 SEC team gets in is if they lose the SEC Championship game.

Outside OU, Early Mack Brown's teams were extremely mentally resilient, they won a ridiculous 25-2 3 point games. Even the Chris Sims in the disaster games he did not get the short pass failure we saw today.
That is Sark's biggest flaw, he completely ignores the mental, a flag on offense should not derail every single drive, it is almost like the team mentally waits for the punt. He needs to take a page from Mack and let the team play more loose and less scripted. That is how he gets over the hump.
I just hope it is not the yips. The season can still end in the playoffs.
I thought Arch should've run more today than he did. It's almost like he felt compelled to stay in the pocket. Maybe more rollouts, too?
We need more improvisation, especially against a good defense.

So the booze has worn off. Rewatched the game. Obviously it sucks we lost but I saw a lot of good things.
1. Run game. We couldn’t run the ball last year against good teams. We ran it for 166 yards and OSU ran it for what, 80 yards? In a game where both teams focused on running it. That was an elite defense. I liked what I saw from the OL. We created some holes. I think Wisner needs to be the feature back. He played very well. Baxter is only going to get better as he gains confidence.
2. Defense. Fucking legit defense. That is going to be the best collection of skill players we will see all season. They held them in complete check. Fucking 200 yards of offense at home, let’s see what other team accomplishes that against tOSU this year.
3. This is a very inexperienced team on offense. It’s going to take 5-6 games for this thing to click. And when it clicks, it will be hard to defend. Arch missed some very easy throws today. These are not difficult throws. He’s innately a gunslinger and will need to check it down rather than sitting in the pocket all day and forcing it. The OL gave him plenty of time today.
What stings is that we win this if we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot. But this was a great barometer for us to learn about ourselves. We lost by 7 to likely the 1 seed on the road. Hopefully we see them again.
Good summary. The running game looked better, especially inside.
I choose to be optimistic, too, knowing that Arch can't play much worse and the offense shouldn't be so vanilla moving forward. It was surprising and disappointing that we couldn't scheme easier reads and throws for Arch with pre-snap motion and shifts. Oh, well.

This isn't true. That's why 3 high has worked so well against us because our receivers just keep running and their secondary can just hand them right off to the next guy. That's what happened on the double coverage throw to Wingo. Downs, playing the inverted Tampa, ball hawk roll, took him when he passed into his 3rd and then the boundary corner picked him up when he crossed into his zone. This has always been a problem in Sark's offense here at Texas.
You're right, it isn't always true. I shouldn't have generalized. But, on that play was Wingo supposed to run a corner? Based on Arch's throw, he may have expected a comeback with a sharper break to the sideline.
