Orakpo had some interesting thoughts on poor hand placement from the WRs. He singled out Wingo’s pinkies touching before the infamous drop. He said that’s 100% coachable.
Ball above the waist, thumbs together. Ball below the waist, pinkies together. Catch it with your hands

Who writes these headlines? Early returns are certainly promising, but "great"? How many great WRs has Texas even had in its history, like four?
By now, you should know the 9.95'ers are into hyperbole and clickbait.
But, to your point, early returns on Livingstone are certainly promising. IDK if he's ever gonna be considered as highly as Jordan Shipley or Roy Williams, but the coaching staff is very high on him.

Stroh: 47.6 PFF grade vs SJSU and 44.9 vs OSU
baker: 59.1 vs SJSU, 41.0 vs OSU
Campbell: 64.3 SJSU,60.7 OSU, (not great either)
Cole Hutson: 47.4 SJSU, 63.2 OSU
Goosby 82.7 San Jose, 73.9 OSU
anything below a 60 is bad.
above a 70 is a solid grade and 80s is very good. Goosby the only OL that has consistently gotten solid grades
Geez...WTF is Hutson doing after he snaps the ball? I mean, besides missing blocks? Neto needs to go back in if Stroh can't do better than that.

Haven’t watched the whole game but when I have watched Mateer looks ok against an over-rated Michigan team. His running will give the Texas defense problems if they don’t use a spy.
Who's our best candidate for this role? AntHill, Lefau, or Ty'Anthony? Or can all 3 handle it so we can change it up?

What did you see yesterday that's so disheartening in a 5 score win, @Wulaw Horn?
I think they got better, which is hard not to do against an inferior G6 opponent. Arch only made one dumbass mistake, right? You should be upbeat if you still think UT is going 10-2 or 11-1

Rod Babers made the distinction in the post-game show between a team that plays sloppy and one that plays undisciplined.
Sloppy happens as times. Undisciplined is a habitual problem.
Texas played sloppily yesterday, not undisciplined.
What’s the difference?
There were no major assignment busts, no crazy personal foul penalties (Florida can tell you about those), and no dumb plays in the face of vital game situations.
But I think we can all agree, there is certainly room for improvement.
Two offsides penalties from Colin Simmons, an unnecessary roughing the punter penalty from Manny Muhammad, holds from Parker Livingstone, Brandon Baker, DJ Campbell and Trevor Goosby, an ill-advised pass from Arch Manning, a fumble from Jerrick Gibson and dropped passes by Ryan Wingo and Jordan Washington.
Add those together in a game where there is a lesser talent disparity, and “sloppy” will get you beat.
That’s what Texas must work on and clean up the next two weeks prior to the start of conference play.
And when I mention conference play, I’m not talking about only Florida, Oklahoma, Georgia and Texas A&M.
Vanderbilt scored 44 points against Virginia Tech on the road yesterday. Mississippi State beat Arizona State in Starkville. Kentucky, at home, took Ole Miss well into the fourth quarter.
My point: play that sloppily against Vandy, Mississippi State and Kentucky, and the Longhorns could easily slip up. I know that’s not what many want to hear or think, but that’s exactly how the SEC is different from other leagues, even when you have elite talent, like Texas. Play sloppy in the SEC and you get your butt beat.
Now, sloppiness often comes from a young team trying to figure out exactly who they are, and perhaps one that is pressing at times.
I thought Texas pressed early against San Jose State.
Was that because they were coming off such a tough opener against Ohio State, a hangover of sorts? It felt and looked like some of that.
But while there was some sloppiness, there were also very positive signs of life.
Creating four turnovers is no small task.
Connecting on multiple touchdowns to both Livingstone and Jack Endries shows a quarterback starting to get familiar with his weapons and finding them.
The insertion of Nick Townsend, Emaree Winston and Jordan Washington builds much-needed depth to the TE room. That can’t go unmentioned because Sark clearly likes utilizing 12 personnel so often, and Townsend’s physicality is a welcome addition to any team.
Ty’Anthony Smith’s emergence also gives the Horns another playmaker on defense.
**
I was encouraged by a lot of what I saw yesterday. And though it was far from a perfect performance, I wasn’t discouraged by much.
The Horns showed signs of life, things they can build on.
That’s where this team is at. It’s a work in progress.
Given their relative youth and where they are in the schedule, I think that’s just fine.
Let’s have some patience, let the team develop. They just need to improve every week.
Sloppy play got our butts beat in the Big 12, too. It will against most P4 opponents.
