Geez, I have a diploma from SMU and live in Dallas, but had no idea the school had left the Methodist church.
Easy to understand why they kept it on the down low. Which bodes the question, is TCU still affiliated with the Church of Christ or some other denomination?

The only thing I see missing with Houston is fan engagement. They definitely have everything else in their favor.
Yep, and fan engagement should improve playing BU, Tech, and TCU on a regular basis. Not to mention KU and others in hoops. Big 12 hype and exposure will help their athletic department in all facets.

That's why UTSA has shuttles that drive the students to the Alamo Dome. Also, free admission, just show your ID.
Free?
How much are UTSA students paying in "athletic fees" each semester? I have no idea, but I'm curious. I doubt admission is really free.

I like the 3 guaranteed rivals/pods proposal better if we play everybody twice in 4 years. Just take the Top 2 teams for the SEC Championship.

Why would SDS propose an 18-team SEC with no OU? While adding BU, Memphis, and UH? Very odd. He must be a morning drinker.

Out of the 4 new Big 12 schools plus SDSU BYU is a clear #1, Cincinnati/UCF/SDSU are all roughly even and Houston is last.
I expect Cincy to have a healthy uptick in recruiting now in the Big 12. It's dumb a state as big as Ohio only had one P5 team. It can easily support more than that. Cincy should be able to get a good amount of the second tier instate recruits that Ohio State passes on but who still want to stay in Ohio while playing in a respectable conference.
UCF has the most potential out of this group. They have a massive amount of students and alumni, they're committed to football plus the big 3 Florida schools have all been wallowing in their own feces for awhile now so there is a local power vacuum. A good run in the Big 12 could turn them into a power.
UH should be able to keep more Houston talent home, too, with Big 12 cred using your logic for Cincinnati and UCF. Why wouldn't they? Their alumni's pockets aren't as deep collectively, but a few BMDs are committed to that program.

If you don't think you'll be hated by the lower tier SEC schools (or that USC won't get hated by the lower tier Big 10 schools) you're nuts.
We're already hated, dude, wherever we go. I'm surprised aggy isn't higher on this list.

They turned their nose up at 5 reasonably large public schools with invested fanbases, solid to elite basketball programs (the defending champ and a school 2 years removed from playing for one), solid football programs, and 1 private school who just played for the national championship in football and has a strong basketball program.
Fucking idiots deserve their plight.
I suspect the Pac's biggest problem these days is listening to Cal and Stanford.

I’ll type it more slowly: Texas won’t be left out of any consolidation of the upper tier of college football. The Techs of the world should probably hope that the consolidation isn’t drastic enough to leave them out.
I don't foresee it being < Top 64, which should include Tech, but who knows?

Texas has a winning record at Pyle Field, 24-21.
Wow, I didn't realize it was this close in Collie Station.

Ask yourself from a business perspective if you would rather have A&M or a school like Indiana in your league that has zero redeeming qualities.
Last I saw, hoops contributed 20% to a league's media value.
But, yeah, every conference except the B1G - and maybe ACC - would rather have aggy.

It's not satire. It's just frustrating. This isn't TAPPS 2A where everybody has to be given a right to play and compete. This is a huge, valuable, high stakes business and if someone isn't contributing at the highest levels they should be part of the payout.
By most metrics, aggy is a Top 20 revenue-generating program and easily the #2 in Texas.
At the time, aggy was a great add for the SEC. You can certainly argue it was done out of desperation and a need for attention, but it was the right move for them. No, they're not going to be cut or given less media revenue.

I'm starting to also believe that some of the negotiations going on right now involve aggy and one other cellar dweller getting the boot from the SEC when we join with ou. Consider their conference history:
SWC Days: Different world
Big 12 Days: Got in because of big brother and our desire to avoid state-level pushback. See also: Baylor, tech, etc.
SEC v1: Brought Texas-based eyeballs to the SEC for the first time, huge win for the SEC
SEC v2(upcoming): SEC no longer needs their Texas-based eyeballs, we bring that in a much more dramatic fashion. aggy provides no further value to the conference. If you think about it it is quite enraging that aggy is going to get an equal share of conference revenue going forward. Texas brings way more shine both inside and outside of Texas. aggy has DISMAL TV numbers (typically the worst in the SEC) and they've embarrassed the conference every year. Their academics and their on-field product both suck as well.
Perhaps the SEC is working to just write them a check they can use to pay off their perennially empty stadium or to buy their crappy coach out along with a note that says "Bye Felicia!"
Congrats, your thoughts just went viral.

Of course once we join the SEC they will no longer be the top team in Texas. Those nut grabbers just cannot stomach that thought.
aggy was the top team in Texas? By what metrics? Most wins against FCS competition?

Not with ou
I think we can all agree that Bowlsby is a fuckin' clown who never added much, if any, value to the Big 12.

Still under construction apparently. SEC signage not installed on buildings yet.
Does aggy still co-brand everything SEC or is that not happening any longer since UT and OU are joining?

It’s not crushing anyone. We just want to leave but don’t act like you guys haven’t been hanging on and your commissioner wasn’t butt hurt
Why is Yormark "butthurt"?
It's nothing personal, just business from his perspective.

It's time for ESPN to start pushing FOX around. This is bullshit.
What leverage does ESPN have against FOX?
Encouraging SEC and ACC teams not to schedule B1G and Big 12 teams OOC in the future?

Guess maybe everyone should be flattered that UT (and OU) have media rights that someone has decided are worth fighting for, whereas all the other schools that have left the Big 12 were just told not to let the draft in when they open the door to leave...
Most everyone would rather be in the SEC now rather than later, but fuck it. The money doesn't work for FOX, the Big 12, or UT. Yeah, it's frustrating that aggy, CU, Corn, and Mizzou were able to break free easier and earlier.
It'd be nice to win a Big 12 title or 2 on our way out the door, something UT hasn't done since 2009. It'd be even better to beat OU in the Big 12 Championship to do it.

..... Cal and Stanford are the real problems
Both are good at sports that don't pay the bills. Throw in academic snobbery and it breeds discontent among the Pac rank-and-file. Neither should be in lead roles.

Yeah, I am sure they are working overtime with the university presidents. Washington and Oregon in the B12 actually isn't the craziest thing if they did pull the 4 corner schools. You are talking about good travel partners for a western division without having to fly to Florida and West Virginia too often for non revenue sports. Their conference football schedule wouldn't have them flying east of Dallas.
Two 9-team Big 18 divisions, west & east, isn't the dumbest idea I've seen now that USC and UCLA are in the B1G.

Thanks for confirming what I've always believed about the Pac-12. I don't get too excited about the "Director's Cup". Who gives a crap?
