I mean what does a CEO coach do during games if they aren't calling offensive plays or defensive alignments...meddling with the calls via headset like MBTF? If we could get Lincoln's little bro in as OC I'd be fine with it, but Sark is one of the best OC's at the P5 level, no question about that. Having a playcalling head coach can also help with recruiting...anyone who follows CFB knows any coordinator who has sustained success to sell to a recruit is also going to be at the top of lots of schools lists as a possible HC.

    * with Bama-level talent overwhelming the opposition.

Team finished 8-5, same record as the 2019 team. Congrats to those who chose "8", but it looks like the majority of y'all overestimated this Texas team for the 12th time in 13 seasons. We'll try again next year, and congrats to those below who get off season bragging rights

Dammit, I was hoping we'd do better than 8 wins.

But, I'll get a head start and pick 9 wins for 2023 anyway. We should be better, but Sark will fuck up at least 1 or 2 games. Plus, no Bijan will obviously hurt.

Sark's philosophy seems to be: Use heavy deception, roll up and down the field early, and jump up on opponents - then when we're ahead by 14, shut the deception down, go basic, and only go big with plays that have a small chance of working, i.e. long bombs.

Which bodes the question, "Why did Sark eschew his philosophy in the Alamo Bowl?"

I always have to make sure context is added to your posts because you just drop random ass info that suits your narrative. Dykes team is built on the returning guys they had from last year.

    TCU portal takes last year:

CB Josh Newton (ULM)- Starter at CB. Good player

OL Ezra Dotson-Oyetade (ASU)- Backup center at 285 pounds. Played in 3 games in mop up duty.

DL Caleb Fox (Stephen F Austin)- Backup DE. 2.5 TFL’s and 0 sacks this year.

RB Emani Bailey (ULL)- 4th string RB. 47 yards against Tarleton State.

DL Tymon Mitchell (Georgia)- Backup NT.

OT Robby Rochester (Uconn)- 3rd string OT. Played special teams

RB Corey Wren (FSU)- 5th string RB. Had 3 carries against Tarleton State.

LB Johnny Hodges (Navy)- Starting LB. Probably their best portal pickup. Had 81 tackles this year after only having 50 for Navy in 2021.

DL Lwal Uguak (Uconn)- 3rd string DE. Had 3 tackles against Tarleton!

S Mark Perry (Colorado)- Good player. Starter at safety

TE Jared Wiley (Texas)- “started” at TE. We know who he is. 22 catches this year in 14 games.

C Alan Ali (SMU)- Starter. Followed Dykes from SMU.

S Ishmael Burdine (Missouri)- Not even on the depth chart. Had 2 tackles against Tarleton!

4 impact players out of 13 takes. I'm surprised TCU added that many.

Yeah inhereting a team stocked with Patterson-trained players had nothing to do with it.

I'll let you revisit TCU's recruiting rankings compared to UT's the past 4 years and draw your own conclusions.

I'm not saying Dykes would've had this year's Texas team in the playoffs. I'm saying he was a better choice than Sark by most objective metrics.

Step 1 is getting this kid's eyes checked the way he reacts and fails to adjust to deep balls. I can't decide if it's his vision or courage. Probably both.

He either shapes up, or we can ship him out. Right now, he's not delivering on his supposed strength.

They beat Texas.  That's priority number 1.

Beating OU was just icing on the cake.

6 years for $42 MM is a long way from Cedar Hill.

In other news, my dumbass neighbor thinks Tech "beat 3 SEC teams" this season. I'm sure gonna miss these tortilla-tossing, sand aggies.
