Dumb question alert: we have 20x the confirmed cases as South Africa and 10x the cases as UK. You mean we haven’t had any new variant in the US? I know the SA and UK ones are already here...but how have we not had our own special variant by now?

because we don't test for variants, tests are +/- and no further looking into it.
UK found the variant because their national health system tests to determine which strain people have
kind of back to the old - if we didn't test so much we wouldn't have so many + tests

It would be a waste to not do something since the market is still open
    So why not strangle something?
Need SPY to move when 2021 opens

Closed out calls about 10:30 for a $600 loss, then closed out the puts in 2 transactions for just over a $1,400 profit - the only thing I made money on today. Though I did take the proceeds and buy another 1,000 shares of ALPP at $2.75.
Let's see what tomorrow brings - I hope it isn't more of this as I'm not very hedged....so hold onto your butts

  3. I'm impressed that y'all know their ages:

I'd have to say not that much younger - 18 when I was 21 we waited until after her birthday, dated another year and a half then broke up because she was too young. Interestingly she is almost the same age as my wife.
Older I have no idea - met someone at a bar in El Paso, when I worked there for a few months, we were doing tequila shots and beer. Never got around to asking her age, but her daughter (who left the bar hours earlier) seemed close to my age. She did not set me up with the daughter.
Best guess is I was 24 and she had to be early 40's, I really don't remember much about that night.....tequila, we closed the bar and took a bottle back to the room, though my head hurt, alot, I think that it is an internal and external disinfectant

ALPP has really ruined my perspective. A stock that is up 50% and making me an extra $1,000 is like nothing now. Not complaining, just noting that I need to recalibrate my expectations. Or not. /stonklife

agree - I have to keep in perspective that these stonks, though exciting, are not a core part of my portfolio and that I should be content/happy with being up 4.5% for the month.

and as a warning to all surly investors/stonkers - the market is almost certainly going to drop early in 2021, as I am now the closed I've been in over 2 years to being 100% long. Then again it could be after mid-February when the annual company match/bonus goes into the 401k.
Good luck to all with your 2021 stock/stonk endevours - may they only go up!!!

Ummm looks like ALPP just filed with the SEC to pull back the approved R/S from the 28th and having another vote a Q1 Shareholder meeting.

    https://sec.report/Document/0001096906-20-000559/

Is that a typo in the filing, certainly they meant 2021, not 2020 - The Company’s Board of Directors has elected to hold a shareholder meeting in the first quarter of 2020, and will file and circulate a Proxy Statement on Schedule 14A, which will provide the holders of the Company’s common stock the right to vote on the matters presented at the shareholder meeting.

She has cold like symptoms, runny nose, sore throat, some loss of taste (which happens every year when she gets the flu/cold),

Any symptoms? My sister in law tested negative during the worst of her symptoms then positive a week later on the tail end of being symptomatic. It's a weird virus.

My son seems to be asymptomatic, Mrs Fairway is the same as posted above.
I'm tired, but I think that has to do sleeping in the spare bedroom

  7. Update - lots of folks in the extended family tested the last two days, mostly from a small family gathering the Sunday before Christmas
Here is the tally, so far -
Mrs Fairway and my youngest son tested Positive
My oldest son, 2 nephews and 1 niece and ME all tested negative
my son-in-law is waiting for results and my daughter hasn't tested yet

On a side note, my daughter who is in Seattle tested on Sunday and is negative
But due to covid rules I have moved into the spare bedroom, and the guest bathroom is mine - but I still can't go back to work until 1/4 at the earliest (I'll likely get another test on Friday, just to be sure)

So New Years eve at home, but trying to separate myself from my wife & son who have tested +, so maybe I'll celebrate drinking beer in my garage listening to George Thorogood

  8. Oh, I'll go on a rant

Why is it okay to just where enter in routing and account #s and the bank allows a site to transfer funds from my account? I'll answer, because we are lazy and dumb; don't get me wrong , I do it because I just described myself.

Banks should have some sort of verification requirement or approval that you set up to allow those transfers. But t would cost time and money to write and maintain that system. And customers would have to take time to use it properly. All I needed is your account number (because bank routing numbers are searchable) and I can transfer money from your account, maybe not much, maybe a lot or a lot to me.

There is no good reason the isn't 2-step verification or pre-authorization, other than it would take time and effort to maintain. I really can't believe that system hasn't been hacked. But until that happens we'll think the system is safe.

  9. Mrs Fairway has tested positive, she tested Saturday and got the results just after midnight today.
So I tested today, waiting on the results (although it really doesn't matter that much as I have to quarantine because of close contact) and a all my local kids are also testing today.

She has cold like symptoms, runny nose, sore throat, some loss of taste (which happens every year when she gets the flu/cold), I don't feel any different. But even if I test negative I can't go back to work until 1/4.
This year can't end soon enough - the only real implication is that I can't go and see my Mom, through a window, at her nursing home on Sunday for her birthday. Haven't really seen her, other than through a window, since my Dad's funeral the end of June.
