  1. That the yield curve is inverted, which it has been for quite a while
  2. y'all keep fucking around in this super serious thread and Blacklab Dad is going to lock this thread
  3. What if the submersible was sunk when it hit an uncharted iceberg? That would be the ultimate irony, and I think I found a photo of the guilty berg.
  4. I don't think there are any funny memes to be posted about the truly tragic shit that goes on - there is a multi-page thread buried somewhere about MH-370 if you are lookin for something. I haven't looked, but did you start a thread about the migrants boat disaster? Lighten up Francis
  5. I am starting to think that since all JPow has is a hammer, that everything is starting to look like a nail. I mean if he really wanted to fix the problem he created by printing money, then all he really should do is shred money (or t-bills). But since all he can really do is a) raise interest rates (aka the hammer - used to defeat inflation) b) leave rates where they are (standing there looking stupid with his thumb up his butt) c) lower rates (used to stimulate the economy - aka print money, brrrrrrt)
  6. I looked to see if there was confirmation from Frankie - no such video up, but he did have this and now I am very worried
  7. It has been that way for years, really decades - the game changed with Tiger, he was longer & straighter then anyone else who could putt, and he showed that the game could be played better with extreme distance which became a primary driver of winning players. Guys like ZJ, Leonard, and others became very rare winners on the circuit.
  8. Because I know y'all are such a caring bunch, and you need an update; I survived my 2 days in the blast furnace. It makes me appreciate my summers in Michigan and it will even make the winters more tolerable. Flew out Saturday, but had time to stop a a family gathering in Kingwood and they had just dumped 15 bags of ice into the pool so the kids use it. That was crazy, good luck to everyone in the 713, hope you make through to October. Y'all are welcome to come up and visit, stay near one of the big lakes, enjoy a beach, water activities in salt free water, golf, etc, and you can keep the windows open (most of the time - certainly at night). I won't post actual temps, because I'm not looking to get negged. I will likely be back for more punishment, when someone else dies; unless I manage to die first myself.
  9. well - i hope it was a good week; she gone https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/18/americas/ecuador-woman-alive-in-coffin-dies-intl/index.html
  10. Fleetwood hoping to get in early with a number, and hope conditions toughen rest of the day
  11. Make sure you say hi to @ImissWallyPryor daughter, because she may still be stuck in the Delta spin cycle and back in Atlanta for better options. I made it okay, except for the part about being in Detroit. Though it isn't 103°, like Houston.
  12. Update I'm okay, flight is delayed so I'm premedicating in the bar closest to the gate. Soon I will no longer care what happens.
  13. I should neg the OP, for causing me mental strife as I am going Delta this afternoon (I am currently accepting thoughts and prayers)
  14. The trick that worked for me when I moved to Houston is that you move in January and you love the first 4 months. First impressions are everything
  15. Just flew into Houston for a funeral tomorrow, it was 65° when I got to the Detroit airport. Holey shit strong out of the airport here it's like a sauna. Is it okay to wear shorts to church when it's this hot? Having moved north 25 years ago, I had forgotten what this was like. I may melt
  16. I am working at one right now, well not really a start-up because they have managed to be around for 10+ years and are now looking at a 4th or 5th round of funding (not sure if round 2b is an add-on or should be considered a separate round). Anyway, we are getting low on cash (low meaning we can make payroll through the end of the month after that starts to become iffy), vendors are being stretched, we are dipping into one of the last cash accounts to try and bring vendors down to only 30+ past due, and I'm told that their are investors interested in putting funds into the company (some are existing investors, and some new investors). There was optimism in the weekly meetings a month ago, but that additional funding is still on the sidelines. It is certainly a love/hate relationship to work in one of these deals; and the sad part is this is about as close as I've ever come to really wanting to work somewhere. No worries though I can always fall back on my #stonk investing for financial security.
  17. gotta say I am looking forward to a west coast major and some primetime golf viewing; and I'm interested to see some of this course as it looks like it is somewhat quirky. Oh and I forgot - my sidebet on this event is the FIGJAM does not make the cut
  18. And I try to look at both sides of an issue, and I am certain that Hillary (and Bill) were both using their offices and status to solicit funds to their charities. I was never as disappointed in the Presidential candidates as I was in the 2016 election; but 2024 is standing right there saying you ain't seen nothing yet. If the two major parties turn this into a repeat of the prior election then I have reached a point voting for Ralph Nader, Ross Perot, or even Alfred E. Neuman rather than one of the 2 leading candidates. (sorry to head down the CR path - I will excuse myself from this thread for the rest of the day)
  19. I have to say that I absolutely love the irony of the MAGA crowd chanting "lock her up" when he was running against Hillary; and where we are today with Orange Man leader of the red-hatted MAGA's being actually charged with felonies (I am not saying if it is right or wrong that he was charged, or if he will be found guilty - but Orange Man is getting a big dose of Karma, and I've heard that Karma is a bitch)
  20. We should all have a guess when Hefe is going to rebuy some Amy - I say this week, because that announcement really was just a pump & dump event; and I congratulate El Hefe for figuring it out.
  21. Holey Shit! https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/13/americas/ecuador-woman-alive-in-coffin-scli-intl/index.html
  22. Hey - it is a $0.40 cent #stonk, don't make me panic with your shit post
  23. I have seen this one posted several places - sure hope it doesn't play into the wind just watch the flyover - 290 par 3, guarded by bunkers https://www.usopen.com/2023/the-los-angeles-country-club--the-north-course.html
  24. Dear Mom, How about message board posters? Asking for a friend
  25. IMO - that is just grandstanding by a politician. The merger of sports leagues doesn't really impact the general consumer; otherwise the ABA and NBA championships would still exist, along with the AFL/NFL, and if I recall there were some attempts at something with tennis (but maybe that was the team tennis, too lazy to look it up).
