  2. Michael Block hacking up the 2nd hole - left his approach short and then did a crisscross pattern trying to find the green/hole

  5. I predict this means Rory is going to join LIV; but he needed to cut those ties because he isn't giving away half of $750 million (or whatever ridiculous number he could get). Hell he can play in all the majors anyway (except the Green Jacket that is missing from his wardrobe)

  6. This could/should affect the 4U investors

    https://www.axios.com/2024/05/14/biden-russian-uranium-ban

President Biden on Monday signed a bipartisan bill banning imports of Russian enriched uranium, with waivers for companies to continue bringing it in until 2028.

Why it matters: The U.S. spends an estimated $1 billion per year on nuclear fuel from Russia, so the new law cuts off a key source of revenue as Putin's forces escalate their war on Ukraine and drive military spending to levels not seen since the Soviet Union in the mid-1980s.

    • Congress moved to ban Russian oil, gas and coal soon after the full-scale Russian military invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, but Russia supplies about 20% of its enriched uranium for U.S. nuclear fuel.
    • The legislation could shake up the industry's supply and initiating nuclear fuel supply programs will be crucial for the Biden administration to avoid industry disruptions and obstacles for the next generation of reactors, Axios' Nick Sobczyk reports.

Just finished watching this on Netflix. I had never seen it before. Great show (obviously). The concentration camp episode was a real gut punch.

My only complaint is that, aside from a few main guys (Winters, Nixon, Donnie Wahlberg, maybe a couple others), I never had a good sense of which guy was which and what their rank/role was. There's a ton of characters and a lot of the time they're wearing helmets, faces are super dirty, etc. For example, Michael Fassbender was in an early episode I was like "oh, cool, early career Michael Fassbender". Then he disappeared (I guess?) and I forgot he was in it, and he reappeared in one of the last episodes. Not a big deal, just a nitpick, but I did feel like there were quite a few scenes where a character is portrayed as "one of the guys", or they're really sad about his death or something, and I'm sitting there thinking "wait who tf is that?".

Look up Buck Compton, be up in La. Child actor with Mickey Rooney, played football and baseball at UCLA with Jackie Robinson, Sgt with Easy Company, after the war LA PD, then in the prosecutors office, he led the Sirhan Sirhan protection, and finally a judge on the California Appellate Court.

His biography was a captivating read.

  8. 2 things -

    a) did Rory send a message, or peak a week too early (shot his wad at Quail Hollow)?
    b) Congrats to new dad Scottie - hoping he can make a run at the PGA and add true excitement into this season.

    x) would love to see Jordan somehow put together a week, compete and get some excitement into the PGA Championship about his career slam

Scottie takes a week off and Xander is trying to make another elevated event boring.

The real question is Meredith going to hold out until after the PGA to drop that kiddo on the world, or is Scottie going to skip the Louisville major?
All that drama in Augusta, and now a month later Scottie Jr. still waiting to hatch

Yep, in total societal collapse, access to water, food, shelter, guns/ammo....that's it, that would be all that matters.

Not to mention, oh no communications are disrupted for a few days (a weekend at that). Might be kind of nice if the phones and intergoogles don't work for a few days.

My brother in-law, retired cop, says if you are going to prep you need to build up from the 3-Bs:
Beans (meaning dry foods - beans, rice, pasta, wheat, and malt/barley to make your beer)
Beverages (90% water, then your favored alcohol)
Bullets (along with a reloader & supplies)

here is an interesting site he sent me a few years ago - interesting source

For longer-term needs, and where permitted, gradually build a supply of food that will last a long time and that you can use to stay alive, such as wheat, white rice, and beans. These items can last 30 years or more when properly packaged and stored in a cool, dry place. A portion of these items may be rotated in your three-month supply. Consider using this resource from the BYU Department of Nutrition, Dietetics, and Food Science: “An Approach to Longer-Term Food Storage.”

Foods Lasting 30 Years or More

    food storage

Properly packaged, low-moisture foods stored at room temperature or cooler (24°C/75°F or lower) remain nutritious and edible much longer than previously thought, according to findings of recent scientific studies. Estimated shelf life for many products has increased to 30 years or more (see chart below for new estimates of shelf life).

Previous estimates of longevity were based on "best-if-used-by" recommendations and experience. Though not studied, sugar, salt, baking soda (essential for soaking beans), and vitamin C in tablet form also store well long-term. Some basic foods do need more frequent rotation, such as vegetable oil every 1 to 2 years.

While there is a decline in nutritional quality and taste over time, depending on the original quality of food and how it was processed, packaged, and stored, the studies show that even after being stored long-term, the food will help sustain life in an emergency.

FOOD NEW "LIFE-SUSTAINING" SHELF-LIFE ESTIMATES (IN YEARS)
    Wheat 30+
    White rice 30+
    Corn 30+
    Sugar 30+
    Pinto beans 30
    Rolled oats 30
    Pasta 30
    Potato flakes 30
    Apple slices 30
    Non-fat powdered milk 20
    Dehydrated carrots 20

    Product Recommendations

The following suggested amounts are for one adult.

QUANTITY FOR ONE MONTH RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS LONG-TERM STORAGE LIFE
11.5 kg./ 25 lbs Wheat, white rice, corn, and other grains 30+ years
    2.5 kg. / 5 lbs Dry beans 30+ years

You may also want to add other items to your longer-term storage such as sugar, nonfat dry milk, salt, baking soda, and cooking oil. To meet nutritional needs, also store foods containing vitamin C and other essential nutrients.

    Packaging Recommendations

Recommended containers for longer-term storage include the following:

    • Foil pouches (available through Church Distribution Services)
    • PETE bottles (for dry products such as wheat, corn, and beans)

These containers, used with oxygen absorber packets, eliminate food-borne insects and help preserve nutritional quality and taste.

Under certain conditions, you can also use plastic buckets for longer-term storage of wheat, dry beans, and other dry products.

Warning: Botulism poisoning may result if moist products are stored in packaging that reduces oxygen. When stored in airtight containers with oxygen absorbers, products must be dry (about 10% or less moisture content).

  11. The R votes on this really tell the story of true MAGA support - R's voted 196-11 to table, or they have 11 votes in their own caucus to support removal of Johnson. I know this is just hopeful thinking, but I'd like to see this threat just go away and allow the house to actually get some legislative work done.

Greene could well get reelected, but maybe even in her own district voters will start to realize how ineffective she is - but maybe they like having a loud mouth schnook; and to quote Foghorn Leghorn - she is about as smart as a bowling ball.

Been debating getting into B for a couple years but figure once I pull the trigger, Uncle Warren will kick it.

    Scared money don't make money.

The best time to invest in BRK was yesterday, it will still be true tomorrow, as it was last week, last year, etc.
Make it easy on yourself, $ cost average in over 6-12 months put 10-20% of the amount you want to invest every month, that way you avoid peaks and valleys relative to putting it in in one or two big chunks.
Past performance is no guarantee of future results; beware the Wally/Reverse Wally curse

  13. I am starting to think that BRK.A/B has the same idea about buying shares when Warren does die. I mean that $190 billion in cash would certainly be available to support buying into the distresssed mark & last I read Warrens' stake in worth under $140 billion. Damn it they are going to front run me on this last of his lifetime event.

Wrong meme - should be the hard landing, because the Fed missed the airport to bring it in softly & now they are flying around and will slam it right into a slamming us all right into a recession. WIll the Fed ever figure out that driving, while looking in the rearview mirror means you should ease up sooner than you think.
Dumbest thing ever was to keep stimulating as long as they did.
Oh well, we need some sort of a reset anyway.
