  1. Its a matter of having the option to not deal with the shitty weather. Just like Texas has better weather than Columbus and we enjoy that option. You aren't a pussy if you don't choose to go live in Columbus. And he has already mentioned that his household income currently as a fellow is around $300K which will be a lot more once the fellowship is over so money isn't the issue. For middle class, Texas is a better option. For someone doing better, CA is a no brainer.
  2. Neither, Garoppolo is playing pretty well and Kyler has done this: https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/football/news/cardinals-kyler-murray-sets-nfl-record-in-win/
  3. Yes but its either too hot, too cold or wet to do it. Dallas just went from 98 at 6 in the evening two weeks ago to about 40 right now. There's a window of six weeks to do outdoorsy stuff when you aren't dehydrated or getting swarmed by mosquitos. In the summer, in Texas and Louisiana we have evenings that last two months where the temperature is in 90s with humidity. Fuck that BS. West coast CA doesn't have that problem and hence the swooning.

    homeless

This isn't a bad or an expensive idea. 500,000, all given jobs even at $15/hour is $15 billion/year. They could also be given housing for the first few months but start paying subsidized rent ASAP. And then find a place of their own within six months. We could certainly afford it, the challenge is whether these people would show up to work sober, on time and repeatedly. Not because they are lazy but because a very high percentage of homeless suffer from mental issues which prevents them from holding jobs, staying sober etc.
  5. Texas 1969: No black players. Texas 2019: No white players. Progress!
  6. I agree, I just wanted to emphasize that since he will be making a lot more after a year it opens up possibilities to remove all the obstacles that Texans hate about CA like traffic(he can afford to buy a house close to work even if it costs another $100K) or small houses or high taxes or power issues(buy a Tesla solar powered powerwall) or bad schools or whatever. No amount money however would allow you to buy the PCH or Redwood forests up north or the beaches of SoCal. Texas has NOTHING like that even within twelve hours of driving from Dallas.
  7. I hope you realize that you're asking about this on a Texas football board so there is an intrinsic bias here. Cost of living wise, it is a no brainer to live in Texas if you have the option but if your lifestyle and interests are more than just going to restaurants and bars or getting soaked in awfully hot and humid weather in the summer then CA might be a better option for you. However being a fellow I doubt how much time you'd have on your hands to do some of the things that CA has to offer. But knowing that a lot of medical professionals end up being employed or partners with the people they did their fellowship with if you plan on living in CA at some point I'd pick accordingly. There is nothing that you can do in Austin/Dallas/Houston that you cannot do in LA and Palo Alto but there are things in those cities that you can do that you absolutely cannot do in Austin/Dallas/Houston. If you were within the income range of $250K or under I'd say choose the better cost of living in Texas but given that you already are at $300K and possibly much higher once you finish your fellowship, money shouldn't be your driving decision. And I say those things being a Dallas resident.

Is it cool to live your life as someone completely devoid of anything remotely resembling reality?

    Pouncey gone

    So....Florida for him?
  10. I don't get the reference to covering a used tampon. Wouldn't that be more difficult because it might be wet, messy and gross?
  11. Leave it to Earl to make it about race. I suppose we will all look the other way as we usually do when someone who is black says stupid racist shit. I guess CTE is real.
  12. Baker didn't, Trevor Knight did. Although he looked like Baker.
  13. Grubhub down 43% today after earnings call. Damn!
  14. Texas had revenues of $219 million spending $206 million which is 94% of the money earned. Aggy had revenues of $212 million spending $165 million which is 77% of the money earned. tOSU had revenues of $205 million spending $203 million which is 98% of the money earned. So yeah, Texas has slightly more money than other schools but it definitely spends a lot of it. Can we drop the we are rich BS because earning a few million more/year over other schools isn't really rich in the grand scheme of things. If Texas didn't care about football they wouldn't have: Fired one of its most successful coaches after years of above average results given the college landscape. But it wasn't good enough for Texas, at Texas. Fired the next coach in year 3 because he wasn't the standard. Hired a coach that was the hottest commodity when he was hired outbidding LSU. Expanded the stadium to one of the largest stadiums in the country. If you really want to see what not caring for football looks like you should look at Harvard. Compared to Texas, Harvard has way more money. Many many times more. It has $38 billion in endowment with a student body of 22,000 whereas UT system has an endowment of $30 billion with 220,000 students. And they spend so little of it on football that they don't even offer scholarships. THAT is not caring for football. Texas definitely does, it just doesn't win as it makes some shitty decisions.
  15. Why do you keep posting this drivel in every thread? Texas has the 7th highest paid head coach in football and that's only because others did a better job and got extensions and raises. If he were to even qualify for a playoff you bet your ass he becomes the highest paid HC in the country. Texas outspends almost every other program. And while Texas has the highest revenue, its barely over Aggy and others. Source: https://www.sportsmanagementdegreehub.com/the-universities-that-spend-the-most-on-athletics/ I know its easy to just say that we never cared in the first place, but that's patently false.
  16. Now stop at Bucee's in Royse City, much better.
  17. That's all you needed to say, because I did. Take your cloak room BS to cloak room.
  18. That wage increase takes into account CPI. Its real wage increase. Try again. Aw shucks!!!
