Yeah it's easy to take this approach after what we've seen for the past decade.

You know what else we haven't seen for the past decade, including during Sam's four years here?   A championship.

We've seen greatness in Young and McCoy.  Sam falling short of that doesn't make him a bad quarterback, but then again, it's championships we're after here, are we not?

If you're going to lay the lack of a championship at Sam's feet, and not Todd Orlando's or Tom Herman's, then I don't know what to tell you.

Is Sam a “great” QB? Maybe not entirely, surely won’t be tearing up the NFL ever.

Is he good enough to take us to an undefeated season? Almost all of our losses in 2017 were largely his fault, especially when he kept choking in crunch time. He’s gone from that to being the main reason we win now. I think he’s more than good enough to run the table with.

^ This. If we had the power to trade Sam for any other QB in the conference, is there anyone we'd take on that offer? Would anyone here trade Sam for Jalon Daniels? Max Duggan? Skyler Thompson? Even Spencer Sanders, Brock Purdy, or Spencer Rattler? That'd be a hard pass for me.

I think none of us care if he's a piece of shit or not because he's not Texas' coach and probably never will be.  But he's entertaining and is good for an upset or two per year and will probably smack Aggy down so we like him.

I also seem to think he sort of has an old school coaching mentality where players should shut up and play and stop whining.  Which is why he works well at middle of the road schools.  He probably would never  be able to or want to deal with recruiting the high star players with huge egos.  My opinion.

Also, he's a guy who's incapable of marching to anything except the beat of his own drum. He can't help but say exactly what's on his mind at any given moment in time--part of his charm, admittedly. Admins and boosters at Mississippi State and Washington State might put up with that to get 8-9 wins per season, but Alabama? USC? Texas? That shit wouldn't fly.

  4. Am I the only one here who thinks Mike Leach is a bit of a piece of shit? For every incredible, off-the-wall quote he drops in an interview, there's a few of him deflecting blame for his shortcomings and throwing his own players under buses. We love him so much when he's CFB's weird uncle talking about pirates, sasquatch, and aliens, so he gets off easy for being a terrible human being the other 90% of the time.
