It is easy to tease out income from the data points in the actual application. Married, 2 kids, father-investment banker, mother-pharmacist vs Single mom, 3 kids, mother-housekeeper at Embassy Suites hotel.
We didn't fill out FASFA until after the applications were submitted, but I know for a fact that the schools could pinpoint a solid range for our family income/socioeconomic status beforehand. I have no clue how much that truly factored into any acceptance decisions, but it's fine if it did.
We just went through the application process this year. The applications have family marital status, number of siblings, educational level of both parents and if they are currently employed/what is their occupation. Most of the essays have an option to discuss how you dealt with or overcame adversity. There is ample information for schools to take an educated guess about a kids socioeconomic advantages or disadvantages.
I am perfectly fine with schools factoring in data like this. The rich kids will do just fine. If they didn't get into UT, I am sure they got accepted to about 5-10 other schools that will provide a quality education that their parents will pay for and they will come out debt free on the other side.
Follow the instructions on the windshield sticker.
Triumphs in theory are great. In real life, you are almost always chasing a leak or an electrical problem. Even in a well sorted out car. Father/Son restorations are great, but pick a better starting point. It will be more fun to actually get to drive something rather than going into the garage and smelling gas, seeing a puddle under the car or turning the key and hearing click click click. There is a reason that car got parked when it did.
Not sure about sound improving with age, but why not make guitar playing more comfortable starting out? If it keeps her coming back to play, it is worth a string change I think.
I feel like there is more to the story. Did she move her lover in while he was in the hospital dying? Was he an abusive spouse in some way? I can't even imagine clearing out my wife's stuff while she is still in the ICU. Except for the cats. They might be gone pretty quick.
Oh, I know. I got an email from Tone Shop in Addison today. 20% off a good portion of the store for an after Christmas sale though Friday. Trying not to cave and go in.....
My son is off to college next year and it has me looking around and realizing that if we want to downsize at some point, I actually need to start selling some stuff. Watches, guns, instruments... Then I think about the hassle of dealing with buyers. Baby steps, but I am getting there.
1 acoustic, 4 basses. I am on a continued gear purge. Just sold off an acoustic and 3 basses earlier this year. My goal is to get down to 2 (possibly 3) basses.
At your upper end, Omega would be my choice
Frederique Constant makes a great watch at an amazing price. Another option would be to start looking at the used market to get a bit more bang for your buck. https://frederiqueconstant.com/collections/7-8-index-automatic/products/classics-index-automatic-1

It’s mostly the color. I was specific that I wanted Daphne blue and not Sonic from the first email. I even sent multiple color examples to them. I also did not want the artificial cold checking nitro that most of their builds use. They missed on both fronts. I caught the cold checking issue when they sent me a final build sheet before final assembly. It went back to the paint booth. They sent me pics of the repaint and it looked Sonic blue. We talked about it and they went ahead and sent it for approval agreeing to repaint if I didn’t like it. it is great, but it’s the wrong color. We are now 10 months in and they are willing to make it right, but say it is easier to build me a new one instead of refinishing the current again. I am kinda done at this point. I plan to call them today to see what my options are. First world problems, but the point of a custom build is to get exactly what you want.
