  1. I don't name my basses. However, I did get word that they named me. Stone Hands.... Those fuckers.
  2. NAMM starting to crank out the new models for 2021. Never good for my wallet.
  3. Actually, he is going to Alamo, TX in the RGV to celebrate his wall. He is not going to "The Alamo" in San Antonio. However, given the whole Four Seasons mix up, who knows....
  4. That looks great AUTF! I am definitely on team Fender pastels. Regarding the belly cut, I thought all you guys just played like this to avoid any issues.
  5. I know nothing any of us say will help ease your suffering, but I am so sorry. It's absolutely terrible. Prayers to your entire family.
  6. Are you driving or flying? If flying, the best advice we ever received for Spring Break Skiing is Jackson Hole. Everyone driving sticks to Colorado/Utah/NM and they are stuffed with people. Jackson was not crowded at SB in any way. The instructors are incredible. No one in our family had skied before, but by the end of the second day they had us on some easy blues and feeling pretty good about it. Everyone goes to Jackson for the big stuff (Corbet's etc) up top, so the greens and blues were wide open and really fun. As a novice family, we had a great experience there. We stayed in town, had a ton of restaurants and shops to walk to and then shuttled to the slopes. If you don't want to ski the whole time, we did a snow shoe guided hike in the Tetons and took a snow cat out to Yellowstone for a couple of days to recover from skiing . We had Old Faithful literary to ourselves at the end of the day. Disclaimer: all of my advice is pre-Covid. Fly at your own risk. Get vaccinated. Or put this information to good use in 2022.
  7. If you go the leather route, consider going with natural vegetable tanned leather. It will age so much better over time. In the beginning, it may look pale, but over time it will darken up especially where your hand contacts the guard. Eventually, it will look bad ass. You can condition it and stick it out in the sun in the beginning to get it darker and not so pale at the start.
  8. You answered your own question right here. Go take some for a spin then post pics after purchase.
  9. Replaced it with a 2019 version of the same thing. I wanted to get another manual transmission Taco before Toyota discontinues them forever. Long trips in the '93 had become a bit of a beating.
  10. Is anyone else having trouble? Pics aren't showing up for me.
  11. It's a big wonderful world out there Mr. Fuck. I drive about 40 minutes to get to Wicks. He is a transplant from Austin, if that helps. For Dallas, I would probably look at Dan McCarthy, but I have no personal experience with him. http://www.dallasguitarrepair.com
  12. Wicks Guitar in FW is my go to guy. I have not used them, but hear great stuff about Lambs as well. They are an authorized repair and service center for Fender/Taylor/Gibson... https://lambsmusic.com
  13. Wrong again! I hide my crappy guitar playing by playing bass instead.
  14. Agree with the above, window shop with him at a GC and see if there is a style he likes. Is a Tele the tone and look he is wanting? A squire HSS strat would cover a lot of ground in the $400 range. Epiphone Les Paul or SG also fall in that price zone. Kids at my son's music lesson class also seem to gravitate to Schecter. If he likes it, he will definitely play it more. For amps: Boss Katana-50, Roland Cube or a Fender Mustang. Any good modeling amp will let him play around with clean and dirty tones to find his style.
  15. That experience was totally worth it for the story alone. Much better than having a vague recollection of noodling around for 20 minutes, deciding the SG wasn't your thing and putting it back up on the wall.
  16. When you drop turkeys from the sky, it still counts as social distancing.
  17. Rumored for years, looks like GC is finally filing for Chapter 11. I know they get a bad rap, but I enjoy popping in from time to time. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-11-13/guitar-center-is-said-to-prep-bankruptcy-with-creditor-support
  18. I had a Zenith Rainbow Flyback for a number of years. It was crazy accurate and super comfortable on the SS bracelet. I never had reliability issues with it. The 36,000 vph is kinda cool to see in action. Some of the older Zenith's will maintain their value, but I agree that if you are looking to flip it later, used Speedmaster is always a strong choice.
