  1. This was the before pic. May not have been cleaned since 1985. The case is super tiny.
  2. I got really bored during quarantine and decided to pick up a project. Rescued this guy and have spent some time getting it back to it’s 80’s greatness. I’m starting a Jem and the Holograms cover band if anyone is interested.
  3. If I contract and survive Covid, I have already decided that I am going to get a Corona survival bass.
  4. That was exactly me. I was selling my Honda Prelude because the car seat would not fit well in the back (miss that car....) I loved the FJ, but dealing with the half door and fitting a kid in a rear facing seat just felt like too much of a pain. Ended up with a V8 4Runner instead.
  5. Couple of nice options on sale today. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Daily-Pick.gc https://www.musiciansfriend.com/stupid
  6. She has very poor trigger discipline.
  7. Seagull offers a Slim S6 version. Drops the width a bit. The string spacing is actually the same, but the width is taken out at the edges. My vote is a Yamaha FG/FSX series and spend the rest on a great set up. A concert size would be my pick for comfortable porch strumming. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FGX800C--yamaha-fgx800c-dreadnought-cutaway-natural https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FSX820C--yamaha-fsx820c-concert-cutaway-natural An iPad and Fender Play App is a really user friendly way to go. If you are in DFW, I have a Seagull S6 that I could cut you a Surly deal on.
  8. Unless you are in a RHCP cover band or play a ton of slap or metal, a P bass with flats should really cover most if not all your bass tone. Steve Harris uses them, so I guess they actually can cover metal pretty well too.... DougO is correct that going back and forth can be a huge pain due to the higher string tension of flats. So, in the spirit of this thread, yes you need 2 and please post pics of our new bass when it arrives. Are you playing with flats now? What (if anything) do you think is missing?
  9. Not sure about Youtube, but Drumeo is a solid online course. Fee based, but good. And those drums look great!
  10. As a kid, I was always a fan of Mrs. Butterworth's
  11. I thought it was just buying more expensive gear. Now you tell me.
  12. Young kids napping while you are running? How young? In that situation, I would just bring a phone and carry it in a flip belt. I use one and can't even feel the phone. No bounce at all. https://flipbelt.com/flipbelt
  13. I have a Fenix that I love, but it is a bit more expensive. I don't think the F45 has an altimeter, so that would leave the Vivoactive. I hate the short battery life of the Apple watch vs Garmin, so I ruled them out early. They are running some Father's day sales right now, so you can save a bit right now on some of the Garmin products.
  14. This guy is totally going for the yellow jersey next year.
  15. I just want to say that it is truly unfortunate that we can't all just come together in one united voice and say that Lance is a vile person devoid of any moral compass whatsoever and anyone who chooses to punch him in his lone ball is drinking for free tonight. Instead, this thread has devolved into debating whether the sub 200 millisecond ground contact times of elite marathoners and extreme VO2 max limits are traits you are just born with or are they so approachable that Joe from accounting could train and run 4:35 minute miles and check a sub 2 hr marathon off his bucket list if he only had the willpower to try harder. Focus gentleman. Episode 2 will be here soon.
  16. Trying to make amends for discussing bass on the drum thread.
  17. That video is awesome. Everyone is jamming like caffeinated ferrets. Meanwhile, Entwistle is just hanging out in the corner in a skeleton suit laying down fat bass grooves.
  18. You know your kid better than me. 5 y/o can be a bit young to start, but some kids are able to focus really well at that age. There are 3/4 size guitars, but that may even be too big for a 5 y/o. My thought would be to find a good instructor in your area and ask about lessons and go from there. A good instructor can give advice on appropriate sizing and may even have a line on a good used 3/4 guitar that another one of his/her students is looking to sell. As far as guitars, Tbone is right about the 3/4 Strat mini Ibanez also makes a miKro line. Used would be my first choice if possible unless you can catch a good package deal around the holidays.
  19. For any aspiring bass players, Scott's Bass Lessons are really solid. I'll also toss out Songsterr as a great site for guitar, bass, and drums. Tabs to lots of songs (super easy to hard) that you can play in time with backing tracks. If you pay the subscription, there are more features to slow down the play speed etc. It's kinda the vegetables and dessert approach for me. Lessons and technique are great, but Songsterr is a fun way to learn and play along with something you enjoy.
  20. That one checked a lot of boxes. It's already gone.
  21. This looks like it would be fun. https://www.musiciansfriend.com/stupid
  22. So, dime the volume and rip off the knob?
