  3. Thanks! I checked it out and am in the first part and I agree that it's different but I'm enjoying it as well. I will look for The Oath as this topic has been a good one.
  4. Leftovers so had the time to make a couple of cocktails: Charlie Chaplin for starters & finished with a Sloe Gin Pink Lady. Should've taken pics because they're purdy but here's a grab from tha Web: I do like gin don't I?
  5. ^^^...and your user name is fitting for Talarico's message when it comes to understanding what he's talking about.
  6. The irony of this elected rep not taking the L is so on brand. Gonzaga, the university founded by a Jesuit priest who wanted to "minister" to indigenous peoples in the area (vicinity of what is now Spokane, WA). How the past and the present are so tragically humorous makes me long for a modern day playwright with the gift to display this folly and hubris because otherwise we would weep. From one white "savior" of the past all the way to the present's Mad Matt, we are the stupidest humans when it comes to admitting that what we don't know about each other is the first step towards a peaceful existence. Edit: @Biff Tannenput it much more succinctly; well done.
  7. I think you're correct that it's likely bs; the blue rose has multiple symbolic meanings but one is thoughtful and contemplative which he blogged as his mood the day he posted it. He seems so preoccupied with the screen productions that I don't expect him to finish the series before he passes.
  8. They got there...eventually... The (bigger) one we all enjoyed the most was painting their rooms one at a time. They were involved start to finish with the planning, prep, all of it and yes, the satisfaction was long-lasting and the conversations during the process were a hoot.
  9. Happy birthday to your youngest!
  10. You're a good parent. My spouse most often has or had the children help with various tasks just as I do. I taught them the basics of lawn stuff because that's my jam (along with cooking and baking) but he's really good at plumbing and the vehicles and while at first, mom and dad were 'dumb' to make them do this stuff, it's funny how the older they've gotten the smarter mom and dad have gotten in their eyes. Although, the year we had a dump truck full of dirt delivered to top dress the entire lawn front and back may go down as the chore from hell because we were all happy to get that one done.
  11. Once I figured out the rubric about eight configurations ago is was easy. If it helps you at all, you can do as I do: When you see one of the posts, just say in your head: HON-KEY and move on.
  12. I don't believe many men even realize how difficult it can be for a woman sitting in an exam room regardless of whether the physician is male or female due to personal biases about women's health in general. I don't know if it relates to the common perception that 'women are EmOtiOnaL' and therefore are not to be believed or are stupid when they have concerns, questions, or are in pain but when I see the stats that specifically address women of color and health outcomes as compared to others I'm not surprised. I'm in a privileged class and run into this, I cannot imagine the obstacles that those women must face in finding treatment. It isn't all physicians/PAs/etc and the other issues with healthcare in general (shortages, corporate interference, insurance, etc) but to your point, Satchel, there is a very long history of men simultaneously ignoring women's health and yet regulating it when it was convenient for them to do so.
  13. Thank you for posting that result; Neugebauer is a terrific athlete. The decathlon and heptathlon continue today, currently Neugebauer is in the lead for the men while Blazevica is in third for the women. Quite a few events on tap for today (Thursday).
  14. Wonder what percentage of this group of supporters can give a clear concise answer to the question: What is the Establishment Clause?
  15. This is a reasonable plan. Our oldest had very solid academics, was motivated and where using a prep course helped with the process was the mechanics you mention. Result was superscore (old SAT) perfect score and PSAT National Merit. Next oldest also had solid academics, was slightly less motivated but still did very well, I forget the SAT score but ACT was 34 and missed NM by thismuch and ended up commended. Thus far we're sticking with that but we aim, as much as possible, to not stress the kids out about it. Most children want to please their parents, and we get that but we've also emphasized that doing well keeps doors and opportunities open so that they have choices and are in the driver's seat.
  16. This article discusses that a little: https://www.yahoo.com/news/led-nbc-u-corporate-media-005621422.html
  17. Alexander Valley Cabernet Franc while cooking some rigatoni tossed with guanciale, tomatoes, onions, garlic and pecorino romano. Bruschetta and buratta baked in the oven for an app for a tomato heavy meal. Had a big salad for lunch so skipped the greens. A bit monochromatic but ya know if you have that second glass of wine that gets overlooked...
  18. You evidently did not get the memo. Men's bodies are not to be regulated, only women's.
  19. Of course and most who view that clip will not go and watch the entire five(!) minute talk to understand the context of that because...reasons.
  20. 'Fraid I'm not tech worthy enough to be able to change that phrase to "welcome to the GOP, pal."
  21. From the Associated Press today:
  22. To be clear, I don't usually note the make and model when having these experiences while out and about; it was a general comment.
  23. Has anyone put a Texas DPS official in the passenger seat with one of these self-driving cars and, with no assist from the owner, tested the car to see if it could pass? Also, does the self-driving software enable the vehicle's cameras to look right before turning right because I've almost been killed (pedestrian/runner) numerous times had I not noticed the driver wasn't looking my way. That's all I got.
