What is the deal with Idaho? It's so pretty there....but they've got some really really odd people.

I noticed this, and it got lost in the shuffle a page back I think but the DPS has been arresting, detaining, and charging migrants with criminal trespass. I do not know if that began with the takeover of Shelby Park or further details, however. Prior to the governor's maneuver, there were the various usual actions taken by BP. People may have forgotten that the US has reverted to Title 8 for immigration processing (see below) now that the pandemic is over. The Coast Guard essentially does the same with migrants that arrive in Florida via watercraft (IIRC) if the watercraft cannot be turned away safely. Just because a migrant is received by the BP at river's edge does not mean that the migrant will remain in the US. Title 8: Individuals who unlawfully cross the U.S. Southwest border: will generally be processed under Title 8 expedited removal authorities in a matter of days will be barred from reentry to the United States for at least five years if ordered removed; and would be presumed ineligible for asylum under the proposed Circumvention of Lawful Pathways regulation, absent an applicable exception.

Aw fuck it. As @royiv pointed out several pages back, this thread has turned to shit so another derail matters not. Here goes... When you posted the first of your ~20 responses in this thread, I read the screenshot (The Right Scoop) along with the National Review article and refrained from comment. I had seen the earlier tweets and had commented on a previous page that this initial border action by the governor seemed like a performative stunt more than a willingness to work alongside others to assist various agencies with immigration. That is with the complete understanding that agencies often don't play nicely with each other. Egos. However, you went on to post the court summary ( @TwiceHorn or any of the other legal types know what it's called) and so I read that and then posted a response, pointing out one or two items that were omitted from the media. This was followed with some back and forth between posters, comments regarding tax liability as it relates to immigration, more back and forth about which political parties bear more responsibility for reform, more back and forth including the word "slimy" being used in reference to CR demeanor, more stupid shit and finally this last piece. I will point out, that at no time did I ever call you a name or state that your intelligence is lacking. I did, upon reading the dig about wanting to ruffle feathers, remark on the disingenuous nature of your initial post. Which leads me to this point. Despite no name calling nor neg reps given, at no time did you ever engage with me when I addressed your comment with civility and a statement of fact as elicited by the information YOU provided. YOU are not required to respond to posters who insult you, name call you, and lord knows, I have enough people on here that I ignore w/o using the feature but you chose to do so with them. I essentially gave you an out and you ignored it because actually discussing this issue sans emotion did not seem to interest you all that much. Despite imagining my own children being torn from my arms and swept under the current to die, I was willing and wondering if you were going to discuss to what end Abbott's decision was supposed to be. I find it almost but not quite amusing that a (stereotypical) male response to place women in a catch 22 is to call them "too emotional" to be rational but call them frigid and cold-hearted when they posit thoughts with little emotion. So if you were accusing CR posters of being emotional, well, look in the mirror. I do, however, possess a pitchfork but it is relegated to the garden shed where garden tools such as it should be. This thread is the zero sum game microcosm of the zero sum game being played and it would be nice, for once, if players would consider trying the non-zero-sum, aka positive-sum/win-win game but I am not optimistic. Sucks to our ass-mar. Lord Of The Flies it is then.

Amy Coney Barrett is 51 years old and Brett and Neil not much older. So much fun to come let me tell you.

Huh, how about that. Kinda like a buncha 60+ year old white guys telling a woman how her ectopic pregnancy is no big deal or if she clinches her thighs together she can repress her menstrual blood and other nonsense they haven't the slightest clue upon.

Eighteen days in and WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! The Cloak Room Is Not So Bad thread is eyeballing its counterpart:

One of my kids is near Bridger-Teton (Wyoming/Idaho) and said that's also been an issue there.

Our country does need more labor if employer and industry groups are lobbying legislatures to lower certain requirements for minors to assume dangerous jobs/work longer hours on school days. The "cheap" is something that is tossed around a lot but I believe (opinion!) that discussion is incredibly nuanced and not for this specific thread.

Texas GOP wants to ban a bunch of books in schools
Mrs Whiggins replied to wildcat09's topic in Cloak Room
I figured the publisher requirement was about $$. A religious or politically connected publisher given a heads-up could have materials set to go and force the other big houses to follow suit. Texas book sales are big money in education and the rest of the nation follows to some degree. -

Reporter James Bickerson (Newsweek) has been reporting from Eagle Pass and he had a short item about the Texas State Police have been arresting migrants (charging with criminal trespass) and detaining them. Someone who follows immigration law closely please chime in--wasn't this an issue before--by charging with a state offense it creates a migrant with a criminal record and therefore cause for inadmissibility to this country in the future? (Source for original article here: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/greg-abbott-defies-joe-biden-as-texas-begins-arresting-migrants/ar-AA1nbeZV) Also: Texas DPS spokesperson's twitter account confirms with statement and video of arrests and detention. $$ flowing back into their pockets after they got their budget cut by $160 million...

Elon Musk: Nazi traitor piece of shit [Confirmed]

Doesn't surprise me. He sunk a lot of money into his pride and now he's going to rationalize and justify it. We all do that in varying degrees. SEE: Texas A&M University--- Football Coaches, Years 22018-2023) -

Ohhhhhh. It is all beginning to make sense with this "pod" reveal... How it's started: How it ends: "Proctors" coming soon to a neighborhood near you! /s -
Being offbase over a differing opinion would (ideally) be when a poster posits a view on US immigration policy as it pertains to the thread title, i.e. I agree with the governor's stance on deploying the Texas National Guard to control access to Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas which is a common BP processing area for immigrants crossing the Rio Grande or I maintain that the federal government and its agency, USBP is not doing what it needs to do blah, blah, blah. Those are, IMO, (SWIDT) opinion statements and can and should be discussed. When someone posts a comment, as LL did, about not believing everything one reads on social media, I would not disagree with that. Actually that is a good rule of thumb in general. However, when that statement is followed by two articles that omit certain details, then it is no less a travesty than the media sources bouncing around the events in order to catch eyeballs and outrage. LL wanted to do a drive by hit post and succeeded but when others tried to engage, using the actual materials surrounding the events, LL showed that was not the point. The point was to, essentially, raise feelings of superiority inside himself. Perhaps, because, the thought that denying monitoring access to the Shelby Park boat ramp so that BP might've noticed that a group of immigrants (consisting of mostly women and children) were in distress and that the Texas National Guard didn't do anything because they either didn't notice themselves (because they weren't monitoring crossers closely) or because they did not care if immigrants were in distress or died is something that might raise feelings of discomfort or horror. Or maybe it doesn't. Some people don't give a shit if people die crossing the Rio Grande trying to make it to the other side. That's my opinion. But the fact is, for the last two days leading to the victims' crossing, the BP has been denied access to the boat ramp where they monitor crossings and perform rescues. Also a fact: those three people are dead. The victims may or may not have made it to a better place, depending upon your beliefs. Finally, one can argue the point about the timing of the drownings, but the fact remains that the BP had been performing monitoring and rescues and processing prior to the TNG taking over the park and its boat ramp (see earlier posts). Is the TNG going to permit monitoring or are they going to sit on the banks and watch a game of "Survivor" in real time? It was already hazardous, but this is stomach turning and inhumane. That is also my differing opinion. SMDH
