  1. No way this passes right? Right? (I highlighted some of it). And then notice the vendor ban if ISDs are found in violation. Text from SB1443 proposed by (I think) Senator Hall:
  2. Exception: No electric lighting. Only tiki torches.
  3. Mrs Whiggins

    LBGTQ

Red headed dynamo state senator from Nebraska: SIAP
  4. I don't know if the rumors that Tate has a cancerous spot on his lung are true or not, but the various reactions by fans/notfans on social media have been interesting: Not going to bother with all the fanboi ones, they are mostly T&P type tweets.
  5. More fascist legislation proposed:
  6. Here is a decent comparison discussing the differences between Trump & DeSantis: Spoilered for length after the first tweet: And here is another legislative harbinger of the Ivy League lawyer and his allies imposing their will:
  7. She's right you know....she has been sounding this alarm for quite awhile. I know the endorsement has been posted elsewhere, but it needs to be placed in the fascism thread as well. His father fought the fascists in WWII. While the former president had his flaws, Jeb is more cowardly than Liz Cheney. Think about that for a minute. As stated elsewhere, this is the legislative part of fascism and it's working splendidly for them. Ben-Ghiat, as a scholar of authoritarianism and fascism, when covering Trump would make the distinction that Trump had authoritarian principles but with DeSantis she uses the term fascist. As awful as Trump is and continues to be, the ledge dwellers have stated emphatically that all it would take was someone smarter and more patient waiting in the wings to take the country full tilt into a sham democracy with a dictatorship. Well, he's here. If he doesn't run and bides his time, he knows Trump will not live forever. They all know this, even the gelatinous goo brain MTG knows this.
  8. Oxycodone et al makes you constipated so he was impacted no matter what.
  9. CPAC is being held in DC, but DeSantis declined and is coming to Texas. Most of the folks who support the DC speakers (of which Trump is one) and DeSantis in Texas won't care about the lack of attendees anyway because they'll never see those videos.
  10. That's a Yorgos Lanthimos' movie and absurdist seems very appropriate. But his POV is really quite, I'm not sure how to describe it exactly, but it holds my attention. The Favorite is another of his. He's got Poor Things coming out later this year and I read recently it got tagged with an 'R' rating and the topic may have some folks grabbing their pearls but I'm curious to see how they adapted the novel.
  11. I haven't always agreed with your thoughts on the population decline thread, but I appreciate you doing your part to allow for elbow room. I kid. I kid. Really though: best of luck to you on your journey. You're doing it for yourself and those you love and that is a great start. You've got a good attitude and just keep taking it one day at a time.
  12. Public schools are for patriots. Charter schools are for politicians.
  13. Another appointee is DeSantis donor and attorney, Mike Sasso. He's president of the Orlando chapter of the Federalist Society. Another one is the son of a two time Clearwater mayor, Brian Aungst Jr. he's the one on the left back in 2016. Last one is Martin Garcia, a Tampa lawyer. I believe DeSantis picked him to be the chair. Garcia, through his private investment firm Pinehill Capital, donated 50K to the governor.
  14. Another nominee is Bridget Ziegler, she is a Sarasota school board member, founder of a conservative group called Moms for Liberty, and married to the chairperson of the Florida Republican party. Inserting a specific agenda (she served in an advisory role in the Don't Say Gay legislation) into a private corporation's business is such a conservative ideal don't you think? Disney could say they want to bake a cake for all and the board could hold up permitting for park expansion or any other of punitive actions that serve to censor Disney's decision making. Much freedom, much separation between state and church, much bullshit.
  15. Dahm is the Tea Party performative asshat who filed a bill on Earth Day to ban paper straws in Oklahoma. I could go on, but it's too far off topic to list some of his other grandstanding idiocy. He'll probably be a major player in the Christian Nationalist administration.
  16. Tap water? Ron Peri runs The Gathering USA, a men's ministry. Edit: He is also an engineer. Degree from Rutgers. Something something @BrickHorn's comment regarding engineers comes to mind.
  17. Following WWII there were around 2.5 billion people on the planet. China had around 570 million which has grown to 1.4 Billion, India had ~376 million which has grown to almost equal China. The U.S. has grown from around 158 million to 336 million. High Plains Drifter's comments about economists and the reliance on birthing consumers is spot on.
  18. Does this mean he goes to regular prison or does he still get the posh prison for the well-heeled murdering types?
  19. It had a very solid ensemble cast. I love the work of Claire Foy in everything I've seen her in thus far.
  20. That was a good watch. Also, guess who received money from the gun lobby? Yep. More than once.
  21. The bit where E.W. says he's never seen the Board ignored? I watched most of that video posted by the fellow in Bastrop that lives near the new Boring/Space X sites and his video is full of FOIA docs showing where they're ignoring several state agencies w/respect to permitting and other violations. Elon doesn't give a shit about rules--those are for people who aren't him, aren't wealthy, and so on. His fanbois are delusional enough to believe they can join Elon's club but it doesn't work like that. Cults never do. Elon likes to consider himself an 'outlaw,' which in a way he is. But that description always comes with a caveat: ask yourself whether this is an outlaw for the weak and powerless or just a thief.
  22. I hope you watch it. More men watching and listening (instead of talking) about this topic is not a bad thing in this world. Spoilered for comments.
  23. AKA "PNC shut down the account because they had no wish to be a party to fraud and other illegal activities such as money laundering, etc. but were too polite to say that explicitly."
  24. The curriculum also rejects evolution I believe.
