  1. OMG, that pic is adorable. And yes, your trees are amazing but I'd agree that the one in question is probably not ideal with respect to the trunk and the diverging branches.
  2. And a collection of miniature spoons.
  3. Michael Flynn is NOT a patriot.
  4. I was rather offended by the former president referring to a certain female senator from Massachusetts by that sobriquet but now you've created an image in my mind that I wish you hadn't. Thanks so much.
  5. Ginny has been susceptible to cultish thinking for many many years. One would think that after she left Lifespring and became aware of the dangers of group-think that she would be rather vigilant regarding her thoughts and beliefs; after all--we're all susceptible to a certain extent to conspiracy theories, misinformation, and other promotions that prey on our emotions--but Ginni has, thanks to power and influence, embraced and spread her anxiety over her own insecurities to a large swath of believers in the GOP. Her parents were members of the John Birch Society so perhaps in her mind there is a commie libtard around every corner waiting to wrest her from her comfortable life she's lived. Who knows? But she's a consistent meddler and behind the scenes lobbyist for her beliefs.
  6. When the patient is female, there is no such thing as a HIPAA violation. GOP gendarme out front should have told you. W/O going back and rereading the article, I think she was charged with abuse of a corpse? Perhaps the hospital called because of the various laws that have been enacted to pursue criminal charges surrounding females and abortions/fetuses/etc and hospitals are very risk averse to things of that sort wouldn't you say? Better to deflect any potential damages criminal or financial onto the victim. (which in this case was not the fetus unless you count the hospital sending the patient womb host home multiple times)
  7. I framed it as especially true for females because there is this stubborn idea that females have all the power: we can say no or we can say yes, we can use birth control or not, we can give birth or end the pregnancy, but in every case is that truly females having the power if at every turn there is a judgement (by males and society) that we are flawed no matter which of those we 'choose'? Make no mistake, this is as harmful to males as it is to females, but as soon as females begin exercising the choice to get educated and gain some autonomy (admit to having a sex drive, wanting a career, voting, having financial independence), here comes society saying, "yeah no and here are a bunch of reasons why we need you to go back to the way things were when you couldn't do any of those things." SEE: Media articles outlining recent legislation, population decline, etc etc etc. Females certainly have plenty to answer for with respect to the choices we make, but perhaps it is the very real awareness of some pretty smart and educated young people females who see their position in the impossible dilemma in which they've been placed and the communities around them (families, friends, online communities, influencers, media, etc) that consistently buzz in their ear like a thousand mosquitos about who and what they're supposed to be or THEY ARE WRONG AND AT FAULT. None of that matters anyway because they are always wrong and at fault. Hell, it makes me pretty sad on their behalf. Having said that, we certainly parented our children with a mixture of sexual education and guidance towards understanding choices and consequences and boundaries that they ought to consider as they navigated adolescence and young adulthood. Abstinence for the right reasons is not 'bad,' but the culture of shame surrounding the female sex drive is abhorrent.
  8. One of the issues I have with it is what you've outlined above but it's worth noting that the emphasis is primarily on females. Which leads to the second issue, simply the word 'purity' and this was mentioned before as well. The opposite of pure is soiled, dirty, impure, to be held at arm's length. Having the belief, as many evangelicals do, that the male is the head of household and dominant over all, it funnels as does much of religious (extremism in particular) thought towards females are the sin eaters of society. Every guilty thought, every illicit act, every dirty desire that soils the soul, every sin and it's resulting consequence is always the fault of the female forever and ever, amen. Males can say, 'oh no, women have their role within our church, we venerate them for being obedient wives and mothers, etc' but after some discussion one realizes that the flow chart returns back to that one overarching belief that women are to suffer for not being male and to take that suffering and never blame males for it. Those who would like a theocracy in this country are not so different from those currently ruling Afghanistan. Ask their young women over the age of ten how their education and futures are going....
  9. I suggest you toss him a beer can ala the Astros World Series parade version only this time make sure he's looking the other way. After all, it's a celebration. Whose celebrating what is a matter of opinion.
  10. I am so sorry to hear that. 75 to Indian Nations turnpike with a Pikepass through some beautiful rural country and then eventually drop onto 45 and you're there. Made very close to that drive many a time but then again, I like to drive or if I'm the passenger, just window gaze. Nothing against flying, but yeah, it's not an ice storm or anything. Now that (in Oklahoma where ice is so much fun) has led to some interesting holiday travel.
  11. I wouldn't take that bet as you're likely correct, it's one of his faves. I don't drink bourbon save for rare occasions but he's commented more than once on that one. He doesn't like to buy the pricier potables for his regular stash or spend on himself so I enjoy taking note of the preferred bottles.
  12. I pulled together a small batch of bourbon for spouse's Christmas stash: Jefferson Reserve, Four Roses Small Batch, Cask Strength Makers Mark, and Buffalo Trace. Not the super fancy stuff because I don't merit the big purchase type customer lists but I think he'll enjoy it. The best buy was actually this summer when I found a bottle of Blanton's for 75.00. Much better price I thought. Merry Christmas ya filthy animals.
  13. I've commented upon this before but once again--the taxpayers of this state subsidized my childrens' education and they have decided that opportunities and a healthier future lie outside of its confines. Despite being recruited to work and reside here, they said, "yeah, no" and are working and living elsewhere. Once we retire, we will likely go somewhere within easy travel to wherever they are but it's not likely to be here. Investment in people yields dividends that are difficult but not impossible to be enumerated with a dollar value but I'd say that Abbott's (and the GOP's) short term thinking will ultimately end up with a state where the uppermost classes may have the usual gripes but for everyone else, life will be a struggle for resources. Not that unusual, but exacerbated by shrinking access to adequate health care, education, and wages among other things. The punitive measures that follow desperation will, of course, be blamed upon the very victims that these situations engender. IOW, the usual ethos of having laws that bind some and protect others. Lather, rinse, repeat. Why would any female or those that care about females in their family/friend group with the means to escape wish to remain? It's not like the drive to remove the ability for women to have agency is going to improve....
  14. Soros is 93 years old and while anyone paying attention understands the 'code,' I wonder who will become their new target in the future....
  15. Why did they draw him like he has a balloon animal for a penis? I like how they tried to copy professional sports logos. This is what happens when the arts are consistently derided and scorned. Originality is shot to hell.
  16. Perhaps it was because it was gun (singular) instead of an arsenal to admire and discuss.
  17. They don't seem to know if they're coming or going. Back during the pandemic era protests surrounding the Sul Ross statue on campus, quite a few of their former students/fans got really upset with the president of the time, Michael Young, and I don't remembering what he said in the media, but they were not happy and started some phrase about not another dime...meaning no donations until he was gone or I guess did something to the student protestors or some such. Similarly, when the football team was faring so poorly and the roller coaster took an early plunge (Appalachian State), they repeated that phrase. I think the interim leader following Young became their president recently but those that populate their message boards don't seem to care much for him either. (No CR, but they think he's too welcoming to others) I suppose they do have donors, obviously, but if one says "I'm not giving money" and then is puzzled about why other schools have money due to their graduates unflagging support, then one needs to retake a few classes perhaps.....at another school.
  18. Key words are springboard and future:
  19. Do you know how hard it is to find a tailor for elk? It's not like an elk can walk into Men's Warehouse and get something off the rack...they're built like an overstuffed couch with toothpick legs.
  20. Gamgee! Gamgee! Gamgee!
  21. I agree re: watching as things unfold. Speculate that Weigman may be contemplating his future ( injury recovery, team chaos) and the staff leaning in to using Jaylen Henderson (soph) as he's more mobile and fits that type of offense. The program is bringing in midwestern meat and potatoes in an effort to create a hot dish but from my view in the potluck line, it's looking like a hot mess. Guess we'll see how it goes.
  22. Perhaps some of that belief comes from the adoration they have for the Alabama program. By that I'm talking about the winning and the culture of winning. (the "They deserve it" theory) But that culture (as Texas will attest) takes time and quite a bit of effort and a willingness to be patient for the realization of the long range goals. That there exists a program west of their campus that has slowly and steadily rebuilt seems unfathomable to them because one has to objectively view the programs at UT and A&M and doing so is likely a little too on the nose for most of their fans.
  23. Phrasing....I think. Guess it depends on the pronoun? Congratulations on your menarche, Theodore! Right in time for menopause!
  24. I know that's a blend, but from one of the photos of him a few pages back I was thinking that in addition to his hair transplant he is getting botox/fillers injected into his forehead.
  25. Huh. Digital God? Didn't see that on the old bingo card. Seems to me Elon ought to grab his laptop and do like some of you guys do and watch some pron so he can finally experience Digital Rapture. That's likely the only thing that's going to save him at this point and something he and his fanbois have in common.
