  1. I suppose I judge Sarkisian differently with respect to his personal issue. While USC deemed it cause for termination, he sought treatment etc etc correct? If they wish to rehire I would place that as their decision, as ultimately it is Arkansas' to rehire Petrino. I judge Petrino more harshly, sure. I admit that.
  2. That TP USA event has got to have Tucker constipated that he's imaged between Charlie Kirk and Roseanne Barr.
  3. I have issues with several other coaches as well. But it's not like he was unemployed afterwards. I'm happy that he is/was contrite and that his marriage weathered the storm, but he's also a millionaire who twists and turns based on who's flashing the shiny in front of him. Seems like a risky proposition. But time will tell I guess.
  4. THIS, THIS, AND FINALLY, THIS. It wounds him, it bothers him and while it's understandable for humans to get defensive regarding criticisms, etc, Musk has unacceptable, destructive, and sadly--outsized power and reactions with which he handles each and every situation where he feels 'slighted' in some way. While he may act or attempt to act as if he is above the fray, your point about Elon is true in another respect: he believes he is 'above' and 'superior' in ALL ways. Call it unfounded elitism since it seems to be a good description of the malady lately. But w/o getting too CR in the DT, he is not unlike the politicians who say "I'm a working man's man," while not only behaving quite differently, but secretly holding a blue collar worker in contempt. Wait, the Veggie Phallus Plate guy? Geez, I been away so long. Between him and Nicotine Mammal, I used to spend so much time rolling my eyes I had to go to the optometrist.
  5. They do, but it's not the same as it was.
  6. Prior to the acquisition, the platform was populated with a lot of govt accounts and was extremely useful in that regard. During the fires in the western US, during Harvey and other tropical events, breaking news world-wide, it provided those accounts from agencies at a small local level all the way up to the behemoth federal level to give updates, relevant information, etc. Those had all of that disrupted post-Dorsey and in a variety of ways that were, to me, rather intentional. I wouldn't say that the government does not want X to continue, I would say the people who work for the government from the smallest post office or county agency to the WH would rather not have had their accounts hijacked by this billionaire with Daddy issues. So they refuse to pay the ransom. Elon has made a lot of money by using other people's money and ideas and now he can use his own if he wants to turn X into a blue version of Gab. Which, by the way, I wonder if they're steamed that he's cutting into their user base.
  7. Vibe: from outside of his brain looking in, you can't understand it. From inside of his mind, you can't explain it he doesn't understand it either. Seems familiar somehow...
  8. It's all kinds of messed up that this man was brought back to that school. It wasn't the affair, as low as that is, it is with whom and the manner in which he installed her in his office; an offense which should end up with termination of employment, never to return. AD Long (at the time) did fire Petrino, but that the new(ish) AD Yurachek and coach Pittman would be on board with bringing someone fired (with cause and what a cause it was) back is insane.
  9. One out of three mammals fall for misinformation and fake news, according to PNAS. I leave it to viewers to spot the more discerning creatures in the photo.
  10. Didn't have time to watch until the holiday, but we enjoyed these. Cumberbatch was excellent as was the rest of the cast. Loved his Henry Sugar and it (style) seems well suited for him. Ralph Fiennes as the rat-catcher was amusing; a cross between Voldemort and Peter Pettigrew in working class form. The Swan was good, but the bullying was getting to me I confess.
  11. Taare Zameen Par (2007). It's about a little boy in India (movie is in Hindi w/subtitles) and his difficulties with expectations and education. Very slow build to the end so it requires some patience. To me, that was the point of the director as the story unfolded. Creative and beautiful and the lead is just adorable. It was worth the run time.
  12. I love how it's the local BCS weather guy that is taking it personally. Hate to rain on your parade, Max, but Mike's not wrong on this one.
  13. Maybe that would be the price listed in the incentive clause if he beats UT. One win and eleven losses and he still comes out ahead? Seems like a standard contract like Jimbo had. When they beat Bama all was forgiven for the season.
  14. The TexAgs post looks like it was around midnight last night, but as far as I can tell they're coming around especially after that Looch-door guy tweeted about Bjork and the BOR being in lockstep. Aggs love that lockstep. It's tradition! I wouldn't exactly call the AD and BOR academic would you? The BOR is over the President and the Provost and those two serve at the Board's discretion, which usually means those two have to pick their battles, leave, resign, or lose all integrity (which oddly enough is a supposed Aggie value). The documents released after the journalism school hiring/release/buyout this summer was not a brain trust (the BOR and the meddling former students) of which to be proud.
  15. He's from Jersey.
  16. If the top four remain undefeated, I'd be disappointed for Texas, but still quite happy with how the season progressed. I wasn't posting or lurking much at all due to work, but despite the injuries, the team just kept plugging away and also kept improving. Looking back, seems like 5-7 eventually yielding 12-1 is a nice accomplishment. Perhaps not the final goal but it does look a whole lot more within reach. I've wondered about this before because I'm pretty ignorant about how much viewer ratings and potential $$ plays into what is already a biased system (despite efforts to reduce its effect). That Texas is ranked 7th instead of ahead of Oregon is problematic but not insurmountable with winning against OSU and some luck. OU ending up 10-2 is perhaps helpful? Margin of victory is not supposed to be incentivized by the committee (per their protocol I believe) but that's where I kinda shrug and nod, "Yeah riiiiight." Curb stomp OSU and improve the odds a little.
  17. TBH, I had some free time and was catching up and also reading the yearly Holiday Family Festivities and Fracases thread in Lulz but you know, I do believe short of the Christmas Light Tour From Hell, this has hands down been a grand time. Never would I have imagined the roller coaster conclusion being conducted quite so spectacularly.
  18. Elko just moved from College Station to Durham and still has children in HS I think. Sure he could go back alone, but I've said it more than once, money solves a lot of problems but the wisest know when the price is too high. Duke versus A&M with regards to the current situation, makes Durham look a lot rosier.
  19. Not anymore. The last time we drove through there was a car wash going up. We just kept driving north, skipped the one in Bryan and didn't stop until Dallas.
  20. wearing the face of a young girl realizing that no matter how much she might like to be a Yell Leader, it will never be allowed. They talk a lot about their values in vague lofty ways, not particularly unique to institutions or academia but there is no there, there. The comment @orangebird made about Sark was astute. He may or may not turn out to be a great and wonderful coach but he has already put in place some elements that over time can affect long term change. He also seems somewhat adept at listening, assessing, and then listening some more. At A&M, there seems to be a fundamental issue of hearing w/o truly comprehending--the sifting and winnowing (stolen from the UW-Madison motto) necessary in order to find truth or enlightenment. I'd say that judging by that Milkman's plugging of his ear, that they don't really wish to change. They say that want change but they seem to fear it. Hence, the little girl may be having an inkling of what is in store for her in College Station.
  21. Surely that's false? I mean that's what happened *checks notes* 3 months ago with the signing of UT journalism professor, Kathleen McElroy. That whole fiasco was an embarrassment for not only A&M but the entire state in a way (due to the outside interference, no CR). Surely they wouldn't be so foolish as to repeat that mistake? I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but what's just as bad is that I can't tell if I am either.... Can't recall who said it earlier, but agree that Bjork is likely gone. He came on during the Young (President) era and IIRC the BOR hired Young for fundraising but the rabid faithful did not like him. So Bjork was already drinking from a poisoned well and under a microscope. Castiglione is a great story because he only had four years experience when OU brought him aboard. He hired Bob S quite quick and Stoops had zero head coaching experience. Both men are smart and know when to keep quiet (mostly I'm referring to the AD there) and in the long run, smart hires usually work out better over time. Before someone brings up a certain recently departed head coach, there is smart and there is intelligent. In my opinion, the latter w/o the former is not a good fit in team sports.
  22. I agree that the interim is likely the best avenue perhaps. I was watching the game, and the message board experts were pretty high on Robinson while Aggy was being competitive with LSU, but a few mistakes (INT, etc) and they turned on him quite quick. Did they really think they were going to beat Daniels and LSU? De-lu-lu. As far as a FBS coach, I wonder if they ever rang up Steve Spurrier? Jr, not Dad. He's at Tulsa as the OC/QB coach. Using him as an example, that's the type of candidate that probably has a lower buyout, has experience in the SEC, and isn't going to break the bank (IIRC, TU has one of the smaller enrollments and the current coach is Kevin Wilson (former OC at tOSU). Anyway, a FBS coach or someone from their ranks seems like a safer bet than going all out for a big P-5 name because those candidates, potential or otherwise, seem to be saying aw hell naw. Money can buy a lot of happiness, but sometimes it just isn't worth it.
  23. We were out of state when it happened, but upon returning and catching up on news, I recollect reading that one of their long time defensive coaches passed away. That may have added to their issues.
  24. Even better is that it decoupled the cars in mid-air so that the fanbase had difficulty figuring out exactly where to place anger/blame. It was a little like a fireworks show and not knowing where to look for the most entertainment.
