  1. We are going to throw the ball a lot.
  2. OL only having to block 3 rushers because our WRs stress the 2nd and 3rd level so much.
  3. I actually think CSU has some weapons on offense. I didn't expect them to be this conservative. I get their defense has no chance of stopping our offense but still thought they would be more aggressive.
  4. A big weapon for us will be the RB in the passing game. Teams are going to have to commit numbers on our WRs. If the RB can just catch the ball he will have a ton of opportunities/space in the passing game.
  5. I get Colorado State is at a huge talent advantage but I'll never get a gameplan like this. They're just burning clock and falling on the ball offensively. Just pretty much conceding the game to simply limit possessions.
  6. His sister is already committed to play volleyball for Texas.
  7. I think the big question with Chavez now is how much is she worth and what's the value in terms of ROI? We already have the #4 recruit (Crump) and are right in the mix for the #8 recruit (Knox). The #16 recruit (Davis) is also apparently really high on us. Do you go balls to the wall for Chavez or potentially add 3 top 15ish recruits at similar value?
  8. Maybe but one of the big misconceptions with Chavez is she's only an offensive player. She's a really good defender and averaged like 3 steals a game at the EYBL (against the best recruits in the country). I think she wants to play in an open offense but she's not the type to buy into "we don't play much defense in this system" type mentality. People see all the scoring clips but Chavez is the type to get in your face and bully you on the defensive end. I don't think the no defense angle will work with her at all.
  9. They need to grab a 5 in the portal. The roster has Moore listed as a SR but she almost certainly has another year left after the injuries (I would think). We should be really good at the 4 assuming Moore and Carlton are back after next season.
  10. Definitely, but I see Lee as more of a PG mold similar to Rori. That's why I think Chavez is a perfect fit next year with this roster. She's more of a 2 guard/scorer. Add a scorer around 2 playmakers at PG (Rori) and SF (Booker) and it's a perfect fit.
  11. Feels like everything is setting up for next year to win a title. We have a shot this year but next year's roster could be insanely loaded. If there was ever a time to buy a recruit it would be now with Chavez. Harmon, Booker, and Chavez would be so sick together.
  12. Major trap game in non-conference will be Long Beach State. They're only 1-2-1 but they ended up in a draw with #4 BYU, only lost by 1 goal to #11 Santa Clara, and the other loss was to #13 UCLA. They are much better than their record indicates.
  13. Prefer a win but I don't think a draw will be a bad result. I don't see Iowa losing many games with the way they defend. They will end up in quite a few draws but they won't give up many goals.
  14. The nature of soccer (i.e. tough to score goals) means some weird results but some crazy results already in the SEC. Just saw Denver beat aggy in college station a few days ago.
  15. 0-0 draw with Iowa. Probably the best defensive team we will play all year. Have to be more creative in the final 3rd against these type teams that get numbers behind the ball. Can't just play through Missimo and Byars. Attack was much better in the 2nd half once we started playing Villarreal more on the wing.
  16. If they keep getting the ball to the wing Villarreal will create a goal.
  17. Villarreal creating problems on the wing. Keep her in the game.
  18. This is a good test against a quality team and this is how good teams will play tactically against us. I.e. to put 5 or 6 players in the middle of the field around Missimo and Byars. Then attempt to play over the top because our fullbacks sometimes get out of position trying to push too high. Overall, I thought our defenders did a pretty good job of staying disciplined in the back. Need more creativity around Missimo and Byars with them drawing so much attention.
  19. Top 25 match up about to start with #24 Iowa.
  20. It’s 100 percent rooted in Schloss. They are flat out embarrassed to admit they lost a good coach to their rival and that he could have an impact on a top recruit like this. It’s also why they went so crazy this off-season paying transfers/players to return in baseball. They’re acting like the bitter ex that is projecting because they’re so embarrassed.
  21. Can ya'll meltdown over recruiting like a month ago to guarantee this run keeps going?
  22. The big thing that needs to change moving forward is Villarreal's minutes. 49 and 60 minutes (last 2 games) is not enough against better competition. She needs to be playing 80+ minutes a game. I think Kelly has the same apprehension as me though......you can't have an entire roster that likes to push forward with zero defensive shape. But, I think that's something you have to figure out with somebody else in the midfield willing to play more of a defensive role.
  23. The key with this team is finding a happy balance between attacking and staying disciplined enough to keep a defensive shape. This team is very offensive-minded. All our midfielders love to get in a very high position. This was even more of an issue with Cox because both Cox and Lapo also love to push forward at those fullback spots. If Cox does return, they just need to figure out a happy medium between attacking and keeping a defensive shape.
  24. I think we will be fine if Cox is out long-term. We will really miss her on free kicks but the biggest worry with this team is vulnerability on direct balls over the top because of how high we push. Both Cox and Lapo love to get forward in those fullback spots. In a way, I think defensively we may be better just having somebody back there that plays conservative and doesn't push forward.
