  1. Shit, I think it's great optics if it's Schloss. "I just lost a national title series and I know Texas is such a better program than aggy that I'm signing a contract less than 24 hours later." That makes an in-state rival look like a total bitch when you're trying to win recruiting wars.
  2. What's the hold up to announcing if the contract is signed?
  3. That's because there's a lot of baggage that comes with Herman outside of football. The same reason Beard is at maybe the worst historical P5 program ever even though he's a top coach.
  4. You aren't wrong but I still view Herman as a good coach. We had 3 top 25 finishes in his 4 years at Texas. This was prior to a spell where we had 1 top 25 finish in 8 years. We were a dog shit program and Herman turned us into a top 25 program. That seems like the definition of a "good" coach. But we're just arguing semantics and we both agree that Herman wasn't going to reach a level needed at Texas. I view Herman as a good but not great coach.
  5. Herman had 4 top 25 finishes in 6 years at UH and Texas. A top 10 finish at both UH and Texas. Man some of you drastically undervalue how many bad coaches are out there. Bad is Charlie Strong.
  6. Based on our standards? Yes. But those are insanely high standards. No other school would fire a coach with 3 CWS appearances in 7 years. Not that I'm complaining but I don't agree at all that Pierce is a mediocre coach. He's a good coach that can't reach a high enough ceiling at Texas. He'll probably have a school like UH in the mix for Big 12 titles.
  7. Pierce isn't mediocre and I bet he will get another decent gig soon. Tulane has been bad since he left and he made the CWS 3 times in 7 full seasons at Texas. Obviously, that isn't the Texas standard but that doesn't make him "mediocre AF."
  8. DP and Herman are the ones that are similar. Good coaches that couldn't hit a high enough ceiling because they're assholes that think they know everything. It's unfortunate because both are good coaches.
  9. It also helps that he's close with our AD. I think that's something we undervalue about CDC. He has a big rolodex of elite coaches he has history with. The recent women's golf hire had a prior history with CDC. Our next soccer coach could also be from TCU where there was a prior relationship.
  10. I don't really like the Jimbo comparison. The reason the Jimbo contract was so dumb is because Jimbo was coming off a 5-6 season and everyone around the program said it was a disaster. Schloss was 1 game away from a title this year. I don't mind ridiculous contracts if the coach is still producing and winning at a high level. That was the problem with Jimbo. It was clear that Jimbo was already on a spiral as a head coach prior to aggy and they paid him like the best coach in the country.
  11. He should have made a change either way but 2 games means nothing if you don't win this one. Now, this looks like an egregious decision. The guy that threw a complete game shutout against the #14 team in the country last weekend may not throw a single pitch this series. That is flat-out coaching malpractice.
  12. Even if the bullpen sucks you have to chase this win. That's 100% on him for not going to his Sunday starter that was electric over the last month.
  13. Oregon should have gone to their Sunday starter. It's coaching malpractice that this guy might not throw a single inning this series.
  14. Oregon coach just let him rot out there. Insane.
  15. They're riding this guy and hoping they can save their Sunday starter for tomorrow. It's gonna look really dumb though if the guy that threw a complete game shutout at their regional doesn't pitch at all this series.
  16. I get saving your Sunday starter but Oregon is going to look really dumb it they lose this and he doesn't pitch at all.
  17. Oregon pitcher has completely lost command.
  18. This Oregon pitcher is getting squeezed like crazy.
  19. If Ackelia Smith doesn't go pro the women's team will be in good shape to win a title next year.
  20. They're even more in trouble if this gets to tomorrow. They don't have a solidified Sunday guy at all. It will likely be a bullpen day against Oregon's Sunday guy who just threw a complete game shutout at their regional. I would still take aggy but the circumstances are great for Oregon if they can win this.
  21. aggy has an interesting decision in this one because it's already going to be a bullpen game for them tomorrow. Do you chase this game?
  22. This guy gets it. Seitter has been their best starter for about a month.
  23. This might get interesting if Oregon wins this. Seiter (their Sunday guy) has been pretty good for about a month now. I'm kind of surprised Oregon didn't move him up in the rotation.
