  1. Maryland is going to have to get out of this zone. It's not working at all.
  2. Both are losses so far are against final 4 teams (IMO) on the road. Our toughest 2 games remaining are both at home in LSU and South Carolina. If we end up with only 4 losses I think we'll be right in the mix for a 1 seed.
  3. This Maryland game is a big one for a 1 seed on a neutral court.
  4. I don't think people realize how loaded that team was. 28-1 and only went to 5 sets in 2 matches all year. One being a loss to ISU on the road. If I remember correctly, our only loss was a match where we had several players sick too.
  5. You aren't wrong but we have legit talent at the skill positions. Not that Bama level talent but Bond, Golden, and Helm are going to be high picks. Wingo will probably also develop into a high draft pick with his athletic profile. This team was far from void of talent at the skill positions although we did have some bad injury luck.
  6. That's the issue. You put Mac Jones or Tua in our offense and we win a title easily IMO. That's who we thought Ewers was.
  7. I think Sark just thought Ewers had a high enough floor to win with a dominant defense. Honestly, it came pretty damn close. 1 or 2 plays away from a national title game in which we would have been favored. I think Sark gets too much criticism for this even though I would have probably gone to Manning. It was still a tough decision. An experienced QB that can still do some things in the short/intermediate passing game with a dominant D is still a recipe for success.
  8. Huh? I'm saying sometimes there's luck involved. A big reason our D was dominant is because we didn't have many major injuries. A big reason our offense was probably only a top 20ish offense instead of a top 10 offense was because of injuries. Sometimes shit doesn't go your way with injuries.
  9. Sark had some warts this year with playcalling but nothing really went right for us. 1) Major injuries at RB including our projected starter. 2) Moore and Bond were banged up for half the year at WR. 3) Our tackles were far from healthy to end the season. 4) Ewers was injured early in the year and played like a guy afraid to get hit in the 2nd half of the season. Outside of Williams, did we even have another injury on defense?
  10. The parallels with Ohio State and Ryan Day are actually pretty similar. Both Sark and Day have flaws but only idiots would want them fired or think they're bad coaches. When you keep getting close and stacking talent it's just a matter of time until you break through.
  11. I think some people go over the top but I'll never understand these arguments. "Did he play well enough tonight for us to win" is exactly the problem. He was just OK with a legit defense. The issue is we were paying him NIL to be a gamechanger and not just a decent QB. That doesn't justify some of the hate but the fact some are fine with Ewers "being good enough" is exactly the problem. It also perfectly sums up who he is as a QB.
  12. Yeah, you don't need a guy that's crazy athletic but at least somebody that can move the pocket with his legs/scramble when needed. Beck at Georgia could do it, McCarthy could do it at Michigan, and either Leonard or Howard can do it this year. I don't care how good of a passer somebody is coming out of HS. If they're a statue with limited mobility, I don't want them.
  13. I will bet any amount of money that Ewers never does anything in the NFL.
  14. Exactly. Those last two plays on the goal line is why we don't move the pocket with Ewers. His mobility is fucking terrible. There were obviously other issues on those plays but Ewers cannot move. When he moves laterally it often looks like he's going to trip over is own feet.
  15. Sark rolled the pocket a ton with QBs at Alabama. It's almost like he recognized Ewers can't move and stuff happens like the end of this game.
  16. QB. The difference between our offense and those Alabama offenses comes down to the QB. Tua and Mac Jones were elite college QBs. You put them in our offense and I bet we are national champions this year. Casey Thompson (ass), Hudson Card (ass at Purdue), and Ewers (above average QB with major limitations). Now, that comes back to Sark. Find an elite college QB like you did at Alabama.
  17. This was a major issue all year. Sark is probably partly to blame for it but Ewers also has zero mobility. Teams just tee off at the LOS because they know Ewers is no threat to move the pocket with his legs. It's part of the reason our run game also struggled.
  18. You are biased. You are in some way connected to Ewers because it's the only rational explanation. If you're too stubborn to recognize Ewers has limitations that held this offense back I don't know what to tell ya.
  19. It's like talking to a wall. We were right there because our defense once again played well and held Ohio State to 21 points. Our offense shit the bed because of injuries, Sark's shitty playcalling, Ewers limitations, etc. The fact you can't recognize (or admit) that Ewers has limitations is actually incredible. He can't move and he can't throw the ball downfield. Again, that doesn't mean he was solely to blame for tonight's loss.
  20. It was shitty playcalling but again that doesn't deny the other parts of the game where Ewers once again showed major limitations. I.e. not taking the free yards in the run game, self-sacking himself, and missing open WRs. Ewers wasn't terrible tonight and he also wasn't good. That's who Ewers is but somehow you keep defending him like he's Tom Brady.
  21. Yeah, it was terrible playcalling. That doesn't deny the other evidence that Ewers has limitations at QB. The fact you ride and die so hard for Ewers is actually incredible at this point. This from somebody that doesn't place the entire blame on him. If you can't see Ewers has limitations you are biased in some way. He's zero threat to run the ball and can't throw a deep ball to save his life. Straw-man arguments do not disprove this. You do realize that Sark can be a shitty playcaller at certain times and Ewers can still have major limitations right?
  22. These things aren't mutually exclusive. Sark made some dumb decisions and Ewers is limited as a QB. This is why nobody takes you seriously. You completely deflect blame when these type discussions are nuanced and not 1 person's fault. That still doesn't deny that Ewers is limited as a QB.
  23. Ewers is just a guy. Not terrible but not good. Any type of difference-maker at QB probably wins us a title this year. We might have taken some bumps on the road and not made it this far with Manning but we had a clear ceiling with Ewers. It sucks but that's the reality. When your QB is zero threat to run the ball and can't stretch defenses with a deep ball you are limited out of the gate. That's been Ewers his entire career.
  24. Sark needs to take a look in the mirror and figure out some things on offense. But Ewers has been the same QB his entire career. Zero mobility, self-sacks himself entirely too many times, and has no deep ball at all. Our offense has been predicated around short to intermediate passing with no running threat from the QB. We've been limited with Ewers and that's just a fact.
  25. Shitty playcalling but Ewers simply isn't it. I think we will be better offensively with Manning.
