Seemingly 85% of generic office workers trying to navigate business casual
this looks so much worse than jeans and the metallica speed of sound tour t-shirt. at least that guy might occasionally have an interesting thought. actually I can think of 1 dude who does that - jeans and grateful dead shirts half the time. is lead scientist for R&D.
I actually like wearing a sport coat and don't quite understand the aversion to it, or at least I wish I wouldn't get the "got a job interview?" cracks from dudes dressed like above when it's fucking 48 degrees outside and I walk in wearing a coat.
Not sure if intentional, but homeboy has a stain on his shirt. Also, I kind of like those shoes.

So I am reading that Arians told AB to get off the sidelines because he wouldn't go in and play on a hurt ankle and a $800k bonus was tied to this and Arians told him he is not getting this. Hmmmmm...
So he did, or didn't want to play? Arians said if you're not going in now you're done for the game.

I think this nails it. The only thing I would add is:
-I work for one of those organizations who sniff their own farts and we love our own swag, so it's definitely acceptable to wear one of the dozens of company merch for all internal meetings regardless of the stakeholders.
- When we do off-sites in person, you can definitely tell the bottom tier employees because they've either forgotten how to pivot and dress like a professional or are super junior and are like Bain and fully embraced being born in the darkness that is Zoom-first life.
That's the beauty of being in software. I can throw on a company pullover and it'll work for any audience. The only time I blazer it up is when I have an inperson client meeting.

I don’t dress up for client meetings much less sitting at my computer all day. Shorts and a polo when it’s warm, jeans and a button down when it’s cold whether I’m working or not. I’ve told a couple people that made comments they were free to find someone that would dress up for them if it was an issue. I was that way prepandemic, so everyone is helping my cause now. I’ve never worn a suit and can’t remember the last time I wore a tie.
I mean I think it's going to be different for all of us. I don't wear a jacket or suit of any soft unless I'm interviewing. Even for customer meetings, anything like a button down will work. For all internal meetings, I'm wearing what I want, but generally a nice sweater will do ie I'm not wearing my Metallica 87' tour tshirt.

Those of you that are working from home. For non customer meetings, or just meetings where you don't need to be on camera, do you get dressed anyway or just stay in your casual clothes? One school of thought is getting dressed like you were going into work raises your game and standards. I'm assuming those of you with customer meetings do get dressed.

I’d call you a huge pussy. But most of us have had those experiences, those that can make us cringe 30 years later when we think about how dramatically heartsick we were over teen “love,” and how the dumbest songs can transport us back in time.
I can’t hear Rod Stewart’s Broken Arrow without having some of those memories.
Well my first love was a real bitch and I still have ill feelings towards her and again, I've had plenty of relationships but that one takes the cake.

I was an emotional wreck, and the lyrics really reflected how I was at the time (except for the heavy drinking part). Even though we've been married for 13 years, I still occasionally got back to that time and it puts me in a really dark place. It's not healthy, but that was probably the second lowest point in my life.
Like most olds on this board, I’ve probably had 10 or so true girlfriends and a few more casual relations. But my first love at the age of 16, which is mow 30 years ago, fucked me over bad. I still don’t forgive her. I’ve lived in several of the most prominent cities in the country while she’s basically a lonely single stuck in a tiny Texas town. Our favorite musician was George strait. Every time he comes on I either laugh because I “won” or I get pretty angry.
as for auld Lang syne, idk why it gets me emotional. I guess because it forces me to reflect on the hood and bad of life

At least soon to be divorced dudes. I don’t know any wives that like tight leashes.
First of all I commend the OP and those of you who are able to retire before 50
i could, but I’d have to really downgrade my lifestyle and I just can’t do that. This is why I quoted this post. My wife is used to this life and we’re not gonna sell our house and move to Sugarland or king wood. I’ve thought about it for sure. All of my colleagues are the same as me as well. We don’t love sales, but we’ve built this life that take s a lot of income to sustain and that’s hard to give up. Would love to figure it out though
