Hook’em might not be the appropriate reaction, but it’s a sad hook’em on Sawbonz’ post.
I think in the past twenty-thirty years Texas has drifted from “southern” quite a bit, or at least has some while our SEC neighbors maybe have leaned in? I dunno. The big frat story I remember from my time was the kid who died of alcohol poisoning and dudes had drawn all over him with sharpies. But I think he was Asian and that might not have been a Greek frat? Either way, the racist Mexican shit (cinco de mayo parties) is not/was not surprising while hearing about some racist black shit (cotton in the yard? was that here?) was a big “WTF??”. Maybe UT has drifted generally while frats have not as much.
I was talking about frats/sororities with my wife the other night, in the context of having an infant girl. For some reason I could see a world where I paid for her to pledge where I don’t think I’d do that for a son. Not sure the exact distinction in my head. Either way, it helped me land on… one of the most important things about leaving home and growing up is befriending people who are different than me and different than the typical people I grew up with in the burbs. Pledge or not I would not want my kid to go off to school just to not expand their horizons socially. Also why it is good for “elite” schools to take steps to bring in diversity. Not having it makes it a worse school. Academically and socially. As a new resident of North Carolina I’ll be interested to see what happens at UNC with the professor denied tenure by the conservative donors and politicians who found her to be uppity or whatever. Feels like home.
Before my time, but I thought the cotton in the yard thing was here. Also, apparently one frat wanted to hire all black "help" to reflect the old days.

I'm ok with Arby's. Got no issues with Long John Silver's either.

Penny never broke 22 pts/gm. Don't know that that particularly resembles Kobe. If we're taking #3 picks from the 90's with injury shortened careers who had stints in Orlando and Phoenix, give me Grant Hill over Penny every day of the week.
Noted. But he was first team all
nba his second and third year. Got hurt at some point. I thought his trajectory could’ve been that level

Just from a cursory glance (reading a few "notable alumni wikipages" of divine 9), if you are a black college student with aspirations to be a player in the American economy-- seems like being in a black fraternity is a pre-req. I think being in a fraternity might have been like that for white people once upon a time, whereas now it's more of a social/lifestyle choice versus a power incubator.
Also a distinction I see is sorority girls usually stay close to a handful of close friends but participation dies off almost immediately after graduation. In fact, by the time you are a senior, few people care to whoop it up with a bunch of 18-20 year olds at the house anyways and you've kind of began transitioning to thinking about life post-college.
That's why junior leagues in the big city are such a thing. It's like sorority 2.0. but sounds like the black sororities maintain their bonds/relationships longer.
yep. Watch Stomp the Yard.

How the hell do they charge extra for you to take food home? You already paid for it. That would be the last time I ate at that place.
Can't take food home from AYCE places. The Asian places can charge you if you leave too much on your plate. Prevents fats from abusing the system

Then - as was famously once said - have him play center.
Penny and Melo? No disrespect to those guys but they were never as good as Luka is right now.
And on Trae - RayRay and Vince are not point guards. That team needs a floor general. Like I said, you could have Wade do that but why not put Trae out there? He's a passing machine.
The game was different back then. Mad respect for Luka as he may be on a top ten trajectory, but Penny pre-injuries was Kobe good. Carmelo can kiss my ass. I'd leave him off my team.

I'm sorry, but the fucking look on the faces of all three men while she was back there. Woman trying to assault them, rob them, one of them has a gun, she doesn't go down despite two guys beating the crap out of her, another shopper yelling at them/filming them...and none of the three shopkeepers ever change facial expressions or make a peep other than a couple of quiet "chill outs". I don't know what's that's so fucking funny to me.
It's maybe the funniest Valero training video I've ever seen.
I like how they have a hair pick and fake eyebrows for sale. They know their neighborhood I guess.

Or I could put the leftovers in my mask.
sorry didn’t know if this should’ve gone in the food or advice thread

At one of them all you can eat sushi joints and I’ve over ordered. They charge for leftovers and I just can’t eat any more. Should I stuff the dragon rolls into my cargo shorts or pretend I’m a waiter and bring the sushi to another table?

Exactly. They will have arguably the top 2020 and 2022 kid.

Sorry coach, I'll get back out there. I am freaking out, I never noticed my left hand was 1/2" shorter than my right hand.
I mean South Austin's Mom said something about it once but I never pay attention to her post-coitus.
This is why my left thumb is two inches shorter than my right one. Her rotten crotch burned it off.
