  1. Out of likes guys..  So, we're a reasonably close group, league has a group chat.  Some comments bubble up like "way to deliver the title to _____"  or "wait he got the #2 rb for a bench player and Carson?"

So main guy vocally expresses remorse and voila, trade was vetoed.   I get that we're all competitors but come on.  Last year in this league for me.

and again, prior trades have been:

    Watson for Cohen

    Lamar for Vance/Ridley

    David Johnson for Sanders/Mixon.

Certainly eye brows raised on the first two, but nobody vetoed.

    Why would it get vetoed?

That's a legit trade with obvious give and take at both positions.

the only reason we ever proposed a veto was if someone firesold or colluded with another player when their team was obvious shit in the league.  Otherwise, people need to step the fuck back on shitcanning trades.

There is typically risk for both owners, so WGAF?

Lamar Jackson for Shady & a 2nd round pick was allowed by the commish in week 3 of a league I was helping a chick with. That 2R pick is really a 4 because each team gets two keepers that count as their first two picks, so ~20 good players are already gone. Pretty sure you all remember what Lamar had done in the first two weeks. Needless to say, I am now banned from that league.

I think that’s actually pretty even. Graham is a drop candidate, especially when they get their weapons back, Andrews is one of the few starting TEs that you have confidence in, and Chris Carson is definitely an RB1 rest of season if they keep using him like that. Obviously the best player is cook, but I think that’s pretty even.

And goff for sure. Goff is a top 10 qb on every site. He had a rough week last week, but if you can’t start him this week when are you going to start him? This is the get right game.

Also, vetos are stupid. I don’t have anything to add to that lol, but they’re so incredibly stupid. Especially for a trade like this.

    And vetoed

Cook is certainly better than Carson I get it, but Andrews is doubling Graham's output.  The main issue is I have Engram as my TE and that basically locks me into a great lineup.  I'm not happy.

This is exactly my point. You’re ignoring the entire sample size to overemphasize the last two results. UT showed up aggressive and playing extremely well in both the 2017 and 2018 RRS. Those performances were miles better than how Mack-coached teams would show up.  And if the 2018 RRS made you feel pessimistic about Herman’s odds of beating Riley moving forward when the teams’ talent levels will be much closer to equal, then idk what to tell you.

Riley came into a much better team that fit his scheme way better than what Herman/Orlando have had to work with. Riley’s team has been more talented than Herman’s all four times they’ve met (five times if you include UH in 2016), so he should have the better record.

Herman/Orlando outcoached Riley in the 2017 and 2018 RRS.  I’d say they were outcoached in the 2018 Big 12 Title game, but it wasn’t drastic, IMO.  Obviously, they got their asses whipped this year. So, the score is 2-2 re coaching performances between them. If you include UH in 2016, especially Orlando vs. Riley, then I’d say Herman/Orlando have outcoached Riley 3 out of 5 times.

Maybe you can argue Riley’s figured them out, but Orlando, especially, has had drastically worse personnel than Riley in their last 3 meetings and has probably had less talent on his side of the ball all 5 matchups.  Our defense also performed fairly well in the 2018 Big 12 Title game. We held OU to 3.2 ypc and a total of 508 yards at 6.9 YPP. While that doesn’t’ look good, that’s right up there with Bama as the two best performances any defense had against OU in all of 2018.

So, overall, I’d say Herman has outcoached Riley 2/4 (3/5 if you include UH).  When looking at Orlando, specifically, I’d say he’s outcoached Riley 2 times (UH 2016 and UT 17), tied twice (both games in 2018), and lost in 2019.  You could maybe argue 18 RRS should be a win for Riley, but you could also argue Orlando won the matchup in the 2018 title game when our offense let us down.

Either way, Herman has more or less split coaching matchups with Riley over the last 4 years and Riley has had the more talented squad in every single matchup. That ends next year when the teams will be close in talent, and UT will probably be the more talented team. So saying that you have trouble seeing Herman beating Riley for the conference in the future is a pretty huge overreaction to 1 or 2 games and ignores the entire body of work.

    Out of reps but agree.

You don't think Sam's injured shoulder and having to carry the ball in his left hand was a bigger factor in the playcalling and run success? He didn't look good passing either. Looked a bit ginger moving around in the pocket and scanning the field as well.

Even at his worst he moves better than Major.

my friend’s sister-in-law knows a realtor in town.  word on the street is saban’s wife looking at property in westlake.

Wonder if he prefers a more urban environment than Westlake?  Get it? Westlake?  I think even he would have issues against ou.

So the terms are that I pay you $100.00 if Texas goes 6-0 in the remaining regular season games? But if they lose 1 game then you pay me $100.00?

    Yeah I’ll take that bet.

Want to use a mediator or do you want  to message me?

Still a better winning percentage than 1-4 which was the point.

Oh, if you want to stretch it to five games Mack was also 1-4 against Stoops. I don't think Herman has coached 5 games vs ou here just yet. Now, you can point to Mack beating Blake in his first year, but that would be like me pointing to Stoops/Riley beating Herman when he was the coach at coogar high.  Different programs.

  8. 1 minute ago, BurntEyes said:

Yeah, which isn't what I stated.

Stoops was to Mack as Lincoln is. Herman.

That I will agree with, which means we better get pretty fucking used to not winning Big 12 championships under Herman.

You said Mack started better against stoops than Tom did against Lincoln.  I said they both started 1-3.

  9. 3 minutes ago, BurntEyes said:

    Wrong.

Mackovic won in 92, 93 and tied in 94 lost 95

Mack won in 98 and 99.

    Gets your facts straight.

You may want to check the facts your self.  And yes, opposing coach does matter.  Blake and Gibbs aren't Stoops and Riley.

  10. 1 minute ago, BurntEyes said:

You do know the first season Herman goes without dropping a game he's favored would be the first in is head coaching career.

Some of you forget about SMU, and not Buechelle coached SMU.

I think every coach has lost as a favorite.  Even Riley and Stoops. We got a bet?

  11. 1 minute ago, BurntEyes said:

Well, Mack started better against Stoops than Herman has against Lincoln.

    So....

Same record after 4 games.  Mack was 1-3, Tom 1-3. Difference is Mack had the Heisman winner his first year, Lincoln had the Heisman winners his first two years.  That and no 63-14

It all depends on the finish. If they go 10-2 and beat OU in the Big 12 championship Mehringer and Warehime will be the only ones gone.

If they go 8-4 Orlando is probably gone.

I believe they should take a very serious look at bringing in an air raid OC. NC, LSU, OU, USC, Wash St, and other proof points show that the air raid offense produces more points and is harder to defend than the Urban Meyer spread. That would lead to dumping Beck.

These are big changes. I expect nothing to happen. And I’m not even sure big changes are a good idea. I’d rather see Orlando get smarter and limit the changes to an air raid OC and a new WR coach and new TE coach and that’s it.

Why is Tom so anti-air raid?  Is it because he thinks it's not complimentary?

As long as Riley is in Norman Herman will the 2nd best coach in the conference, and it's not close.   Herman's full of himself and until he overcomes his shortcomings as an HC he'll never be more than a 9-2  type coach each year.  Tolerable at Texas?  You can decide.

Really hope this isn't true.  But, we may have Mack/Jon Cooper again.
