  1. My buddies and I did some really stupid shit in our early 20s (and in our late 20s, early 30s, well you get the point), but I can confidently say we never did anything as stupid as attempting a coup in Congo.
  2. Eastern Conference all-stars are the new Spinal Tap drummers.
  3. Not a bad idea. Then the Detroit and Houston teams could do endorsement deals with adult toy companies to promote a new line of Lady Pistons and Lady Rockets.
  4. I may be misremembering but I think I read that Ernie doesn't want to leave Turner. But I'm sure he would be willing to rethink that position if his new paycheck has enough zeroes.
  5. This is correct. This is more corret.
  6. Sometimes The Onion hits a little too close to reality
  7. Perhaps there's more to Newman than meets the eye. No, there's less.
  8. I just want to thank the City of Austin for sending me a text in English this morning warning me that it would be hot today followed by the same text in Spanish ten minutes later. I had planned on sitting outside in a parka all afternoon, but I might rethink that plan. Are we going to get these texts every day until September?
  9. My first thought was, "I would love to watch Barkley and Shaq go off on the A&M band and yell leaders". But then I realized it said playoff games and not "minor bowl games before Christmas" and got a sad.
  10. Is he that much of a fucking snowflake that he gets triggered by rainbow colors during Pride Month?
  11. This is the main issue. The Patriots upsetting the Rams to win their first Super Bowl with a rookie QB was cool. The Red Sox finally defeating the Yankees with an amazing comeback and then winning the World Series for the first time in forever was cool. Then the Boston teams kept winning, Bill Simmons became a douchebag, and the rest is history.
  12. Since neither of us are lawyers, I'll leave it up to the surly ambulance chasers to figure out the best way to change a minor's name. In the meantime, @NaTeWHO, I am a high school teacher and I do have experience in navigating name changes in a school environment. Hit me up if you need guidance there.
  13. Dude, read the fucking room. School is not the issue. School is just where the issue manifests itself. Bottom line, the kid doesn't want to share his name with a POS. And on a practical level, in the next five years or so, he's probably going to be getting a driver's license, taking the SAT, applying to colleges, and getting a job. All of those have a ridiculous amount of bureaucratic red tape that will be much easier to deal with if the name issue is taken care of.
  14. Not to derail this thread, but we need to circle back to this. Are you also a Red Sox and Yankees fan? Do you cheer for Duke and North Carolina? When you watch Star Wars, do you support the Rebels, but also understand the viewpoint of the Empire?
  15. Just when I think this piece of shit couldn't shock me ...
  16. That can also include kids with ADHD, dyslexia, etc. You know the types of vulnerable kids that can be very successful if they are given help and guidance, but there won't be any more help or guidance because of the resulting loss of funding for public schools.
  17. @jimmyjazz, can you please change the thread title to "Bay Area and also, shut the fuck up, @immamac"?
  18. Muir Woods are fantastic, but be careful if you're driving. Go early in the morning because the parking lot is real small and fills up fast. There are also bus companies that will drive you from SF and you could just make it a day trip and then go back to the city. And don't listen to the haters. The Bay Area is amazing and the problems in San Fran are no different or worse than any other large city in America.
  19. But not the pants. All pants gave some, but some pants gave all. We salute you, pants, the real American hero.
  20. It's not the wasted money that bothers me. Well, it bothers me that it's not being wasted on hookers and booze for me, but I'll get over it. It's just silly for AISD to trumpet they are solving the teacher burnout problem by teaching yoga. Twisting my fat ass into pretzels in front of my coworkers is not my idea of relaxing and doesn't solve the problem of overcrowded classrooms and lack of supplies.
