Not me. I'm too cheap to buy a vanity plate

I met him at the Purdue football autograph day in July or August in West Lafayette. I told him I was from Austin and joked about letting his teammates go to Texas A&M. He said he had not yet graduated, which I assumed meant neither Texas nor Purdue.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but here goes. If it needs to go elsewhere, let me know. After a rough breakup, my son (19 YO) threatened self-harm Sunday PM, which started a series of events resulting in an Emergency Detention Order and involuntary admission to a mental health facility in Indianapolis. I suspect he'll need an attorney to help him unwind this, but I am not sure. B/c he's of majority age - and he did not sign a medical/etc. POA - I am presently limited to just asking questions and researching. Wife is there for visitation, help, etc. He's safe, but really pissed off because he feels betrayed by EX, EX's family, lots of others. Feel free to offer advice - PM preferred.

NSIAP The Buffalo Bills were involved in the trades that netted KC Mahomes in 2017 and Worthy this year. Bills ended up with good drafts in the years involved in the 2017 trade: 2017: 3 pro-bowlers (White, Dawkins, Milano) and 3 more guys who made the roster (Jones, Peterman, Vallejo) 2018: 3 pro-bowlers (Allen, Edmunds, Teller) and 4 more roster guys (Phillips, Johnson, Neal, McCloud Bills traded 2017.10 (Mahomes) for 2017.27, 2017.91, and 2018.22. They used their own 2018 first round pick (21) to ultimately trade up to 7 - Josh Allen. (21 -> 12 -> 7). They used the pick from the Chiefs to trade up for Edmunds. There are many other transactions involved, but those were the main pieces. In 2024, Bills traded 2024.28, 2024.133, 2024.248 for what ended up as 2024.33, 2024.95, 2024.141, 2024.221. Chiefs drafted Worthy, and 2nd team CB, and a backup G. Bills drafted WR Keon Coleman (starter), 2nd team DT, 2nd team C, and a backup T on IR. The bills had the 6'4" Coleman higher on their draft board. He caught 51% of his targets for 29 receptions, 556 yards, and 4 TD. Zero impact in the running game. KC's Worthy caught 61% of his targets for 59 receptions, 638 yards, and 6 TD - and 3 more TD rushing. Worthy made an impact in the playoffs. Coleman did not.

Yes - in Denton. Greg (bari player and occasional player of all woodwinds) was my teacher. Dan was a younger teacher in our area - great guy, too. Both in Mingo Fishtrap.

I'm a little late to reply, but I want to reinforce the suggestions for private instruction @UT_OB1. I, like @G650, am having some nostalgic moments... Started saxophone in the 6th grade. I was somewhat innately talented, but lazy and had poor practice discipline. We were bused to another MS in 7th, where I started taking lessons. The first teacher and I were not a good fit. He was probably not as good a fit for a 7th grader as he would have been for an 11th grader, so I sought another teacher. This guy was great. Patient, challenged me, was really "cool" - leather jacket, long hair, beard, etc. That is key - make sure the teacher is a good fit. He and I stayed in touch over the years and became closer as my own kids started band around 15 years ago. With the right fit - and the right personalities - you can build lifelong relationships. I learned he passed away of a massive heart attack last week. The outpouring of love and support was immense. He was a great man, a good friend, and was very impactful to many generations of Austin-area saxophone players. Everyone had a story about him - and I could relate to many of those stories. Interesting story - when I was in HS, we talked a few times about college, etc. I was young, naive, and arrogant, assuming that everyone good at math, etc. was destined to be an engineer or physics or math major. And that folks who chose other domains did so because of talents, etc. He told me he was a math star at one point - and also tutored PreCal and Calc at times. I was bemused. He said that he considered science/engineering route - and knew he could excel - but it just was not interesting to him. He knew that he was not going to make as much teaching and gigging, but it was his passion. And I am better off because of it. He was also a part of a band called Mingo Fishtrap. A fellow sax player in the band posted this and reminded us that his solo at 2:20 was 1-take. Sorry for the thread hijack.

The bass player is grinning for most of the video. Love to see that type of joy on a player's face.

This is also a great cover. Just about anything Plant and Krauss do together is stellar.

My God, that is beautiful. Rufus and Sara FTW.

I also love Peyton's non-verbal cues when he observes mental mistakes. In the first half, he's a little more reserved, but in the second half he's quite animated and direct. When someone makes a really good play, he says. When someone makes a mistake, he says it. Moreover, he never denigrates the person, just the play/decision.

Dallas Cowboys 2024 Season Thread -- Jerrah the Asshat Rides Again
boilerhorn replied to Patrick Bateman's topic in Football
Pregame talking heads, esp. Rex Ryan, are talking up Anthony Lynn and Deion Sanders for Dallas. Rex believes Lynn is a really good coach and will be able to handle Dallas. Ryan also thinks Ben Johnson is young Bill Walsh. Neither Johnson nor Glenn are being mentioned for the Dallas job. -
The perceived preferential treatment has become more profound recently, esp. after Kelce started dating Taylor Swift and she started to attend games. She's really good for business, and the NFL is all about the almighty buck. Last night, Caitlyn Clark sat with Swift. Even better for business. Looking at the Texans penalties yesterday: 1st: 15:00 - Boyd 15- yard unsportsmanlike - Legit/deserved penalty 1st: 7:00 - KC Ball - 3rd-8 at KC 33 - roughing the passer on incomplete pass - drive continues (FG on drive) :: 6-3 KC 2nd: 0:33 - HOU Ball - 3rd-13 at KC - holding on 12-yard scramble by Stroud - drive results in HOU FG and no opportunity for 4th-1 :: 13-6 KC First drive of 3rd Q for HOU - 10:24 drive for TD - 13-12 KC - missed XP 3rd: 15:00 - HOU Holding on kick return 3rd: 11:37 - HOU false Start, 1st-10 at HOU 45 3rd: 7:33 - HOU 5 yard gain on 1st-10 at KC 24. OPI on HOU 3rd: 5:46 - HOU illegal motion on 3rd-1 at KC 11. 3rd: 1:52 - 1st-10 at KC 35. Mahomes scrambles. HOU unnecessary roughness. (TD on drive) :: 20-12 KC 8 penalties for 82 yards. 5 when HOU on offense, 2 on HOU defense (both when Mahomes is Mahomes-ing), 1 on Boyd. When Mahomes scrambles, I see defensive players becoming tentative. They know that touching him can be called a penalty. I hate to complain about officiating, but top-tier mobile QBs get preferential treatment. And Mahomes is at a different level there. They are protecting the shield. I believe KC is the better team, but the thumb is on the scale in their favor.

You probably know this, but... There are tons of forums that compare/contrast all the variants of sprinter van, etc. In all of my reading, I conclude: the Mercedes ones are a little better and break down less. However, when the break down, it's a giant PITA, as the MB repair shops tend to be near larger towns and cities. Dodges - while lower in reliability - can be serviced just about anywhere. The above was largely from groups of folks who are using the Sprinters for travel, off-grid camping, etc.

Auto window replacement - Austin - not windshield

DOH! Delete thread, ban user. Son asked me, "Who did you use to replace your windshield a while back?' Uh. ProGlass. They were awesome. -
Auto window replacement - Austin - not windshield
boilerhorn replied to boilerhorn's topic in Can You Help Me With This?
Thanks. Safelite immediately came to mind, but their reputation is so-so. Service and glass quality. That said, it is passenger side, so could be OK. -
Son is out of town, but lives nearby. His truck (GMC Sierra) was broken into on Sunday night and it needs a new front passenger window. Any recommendations? Son does not want to use insurance (he's concerned about rate changes - but may be confused). Called Covert to ask - person there was clueless. Any recommendations in the Austin area? Prefer if they come to where truck is.

I do not think they are dogshit. They ran into a good team that is healthy: The Rams. Rams were 8-4 in games Kupp played (2-3 with him out). They were 8-3 in games w/ Nacua. 8-3 when they both played. The Rams are a team that had beaten them earlier in the season. Rams were 1-3 against the NFC North, the lone win coming against Minnesota. Losses to Chicago and GB: both Kupp and Nacua were out. Lost to Lions in OT. 2 bad losses: 40-10 to Az - oof. 37-20 to Philly (Barkley had 255). The Rams final regular season game saw them sit 8 starting offensive players and lose 30-25 to Seattle. After starting 1-4, the Rams went 9-3 in their final 12 games.
-
(1) 4-2: vs NFC North: Lions swept them. They swept Chicago, Green Bay. (2) 4-0: NFC North drew AFC South as their cross-conference schedule (NFC north was 14-2 against the AFC South) AFC South was 25-43. (3) 3-1: NFC North played NFC West (Az, SF, Sea, Rams) - loss to Rams. (Lions: 4-0; Bears: 1-3; Packers: 4-0); NFC West was 34-34. (3) 2-0: 3rd place 2023 finish allowed them to draw 2 games against the other 3rd finishers from last year's NFC (NYG, Atl) (4) 1-0: Jets Basically, they drew a relatively easy schedule and were 9-1 in 1-score games.

Wealthiest in what ways? Willingness of alumni and/or fans to legally use NIL? Perhaps, but Oregon and others are in that game, too (already mentioned) Willingness of alumni and adjacencies to skirt the rules to incentivize player? Maybe, but Texas was not in that game. Alumni wealth? Perhaps, but there are others in this space. School endowment. tosu is not even in the top-20. Vandy, Emory, and Cornell have larger endowments than tosu, for example. I will concede I am picking nits and possibly being pedantic here, but MOST of the schools are financially separated from football programs and/or athletics departments, for the most part. Especially the blue bloods.

Steelers started 7-2, then 10-3, closing out the regular season with 4 losses to end at 10-7. Their schedule strength was back-loaded, but 1 win in the final 4 games (Eagles, Ravens, Chiefs, Bengals) may have shown *some* signs for optimism. In 3 of those games, they were totally outclassed. As they were last night. The Steelers are in a real bind, in that they seem to be stuck at 8-10 wins (only 1 season over 10 wins since 2017 - and they lost in the wild-card round). It's not a bad place to be, but there are NO signs it could get better before it gets worse. The DL and LB are aging and they've always had problems at DB. The OL struggles to run block and the RB room is just "ok." Their best WR - George Pickens - seems to be a moron and has largely been neutralized in the past 5 games - and he's had a case of the drops. Moreover, he said he was not optimistic about the offense going forward - in a post-game interview YESTERDAY. At QB, both Wilson and Fields are free agents. Wilson has looked good at times, and I think he's still getting paid by Denver, so he could be an option. But that just kicks the can down the road. Tomlin is a good coach and I think he gets more wins out of his rosters than most other coaches could. However, his coordinator hires have been suspect. DC Teryl Austin (yes, the same guy who was the supposed DC for Urban Meyer, if Meyer arrived here) looks like he gets out-coached. Arthur Smith is just OK, but his system is predicated on effective rushing. Don't think you can fire Tomlin, but something needs to improve. Time of possession last night: 40 to 20 in favor of Baltimore. 20 to 10 in both halves and 299 yards rushing for Baltimore. Hard to win a game like that.
