  1. It would be great if the CAD/state/taxing entity was compelled to pay 95% of appraised value to purchase your property at the homeowners choosing. If the appraised value was accurate, they’d break even after paying 5% realtor fees to sell it to an actual buyer. CAD figured it out…. They’d rather than have us flail at appeals when talking to functional morons at the hearing. And they’ll just say “no”
  2. He has the 8th grade history class understanding of tariffs. What a stinking moron. Looks like he's poised to kill the economy just so he can save it again. Our populace is just dumb enough to believe it, too. "I've removed the tariffs because they worked. A, B C companies will increase their investments in USA, etc." He'll cite some BS metric and declare victory. The amazing thing is this is so foolish that it was able to get China, Japan, and S Korea to align on a shared response. They all hate each other. The only silver lining - TSLA stock price crash seems to be ahead of the others...
  3. Did she portal from OU?
  4. I am aware of one small town that uses these to pick up leaves from the sidewalk/street, weekly in spring and fall.
  5. She's on Instagram and Youtube.
  6. Kevin Young: For 13k: 7 (gggg-gf) * 5 (ggg-gf) * 5 (gg-gf) * 5 (g-gf) * 5 (gf) * 3 (f) Steve Young For 35k: 56 (ggg-gf) * 5 (gg-gf) * 5 (g-gf) * 5 (gf) * 5 (f) All assumptions except in bold, which are numbers I found on the internets. I also assumed all of Brigham's kids were able to have kids. Steve is 1/5 of your number because he's 1 generation older. Kevin is 3/5 of your number because he has 2 siblings. The salient word in the previous post was "*between*" regarding Lorenzo and Kevin's father. I left out the other detail. Thanks for checking my math.
  7. Barnes is a really good coach and represented Texas well. As noted, his latter years here were marred by early exits and teams that stalled near the end of the season. 2014-2015 closed out 3-5 and lost in first round of tourney 2013-2014 closed out 3-5 and lost in 2nd round of tourney 2012-2013 16-18 overall; closed season 6-6; lost to Houston in round one of CBI 2011-2012 closed out season 3-4; lost in first round of tourney 2010-2011 closed out season 4-4; lost in 2nd round of tourney 2009-2010 closed out season 4-6; lost in 1st round Yes, I cherry-picked where to look in each season, but in his final 6 years here, Texas was 2-5 in the NCAA tournament and missed it altogether 1 year. He had a reputation for physically and emotionally wearing out players at the time, if memory serves. There were rumblings of a personal digression, but I might be misremembering. It was time for a change.
  8. That's not exactly as unique a claim as one might think. Lorenzo had 10 children, 7 of whom made it to adulthood. If each generation between Lorenzo and Kevin Young's father had 5 offspring, there' be approximately 13k people who could make the above claim. Fwiw, Brigham Young had 56 children. Football's Steve Young was the g-g-g-grandson of Brigham. Using that and 5 offspring per generation puts Steve in a class of around 35k who can make the Brigham claim. Fwiw. I know the LDS folks are really into genealogy, so the exact numbers might be vastly different. I made some simplifying assumptions.
  9. My $0.02, and it might be worth even less. The rowing suggestion makes sense and could be considered. My company once hired an EE major from Texas who was a rower. She was around 5'2" and was one of the actual rowers. That was around 15+ years ago, so the sport could have changed, but... I just looked and Texas offers a rowing camp, but its pricey at $1500 for 4 days. Another thought - use sports to encourage health, physical fitness, time management, and discipline. Avoid thinking about the possibility that "my kid will go to XYZ school on $ABC scholarship." Many parents get wrapped up in that and lose sight of the bigger picture - get to a good college to get a good education. And they spend a ton of money and time traveling all over the region and US trying to "get there." Another anecdote - a buddy's daughter was a very skilled soccer player. She loved it, and eventually earned a scholarship to play at the college she actually wanted to attend. Was injured in freshman year; then coach changed. She continued her studies and graduated. She played club ball through MS and HS, and her parents gladly did it because she loved the game and competition. The objective was not a scholarship. The buddy mentioned that many other parents were there for the scholarship only - and some kids would end up at some NW USA private school with a 25% scholarship. The school did not have a major the kid wanted, etc. He often noted that the family would have been better off spending all that money on tutoring and test prep. A few more thoughts to summarize it all - again, all worth what you paid If she's passionate about a certain sport, support it to the extent you are willing, time-wise and financially Avoid making the sports about the path to college - also, I am not that sure about academics monitoring across sports; much of it is "keep eligible. Athletics will push you toward majors they are comfortable with - in my example above, the coach/support staff said, "We've never had anyone major in that. We do not know how it works." This was a D1 school. If you have the spare $$, spend it on test prep and tutoring. Look for smaller schools - not unlike what you did for HS. Do tours and understand the level of support, help, monitoring, etc. you can get. You know your kid, so feel free to ignore all of the above. I am a random internet person Good luck with it all!
  10. Just finished today. Wonderful finale. I debated the Helly/Helena angle, but concluded Helly. Innie Mark was suspicious of Outie Mark. Innie Mark had developed strong feelings with Helly, which led him to trust Outie Mark in helping to free Gemma. IMO, if Outie Mark was willing to go take such actions to save Gemma, Innie Mark would understand. His love and passion for Helly was great, so he could relate. But he did not want to abandon his Innie experiences. I believe we will see more of Irv. And I am glad Drummond was eradicated. What a great concept, script, cast, and production.
  11. We have the "luxury" of Texas and Marquette history of Shaka to help guide us to understand how subpar he is. Even with that, it still does not really make sense that Shaka was hired in the first place. He was hired 4 years after the Final 4 run, where they went 5-1 (with play-in). After that, his teams we a combined 2-4 in the tournament. The final 2 years, he lost in the first round to a lower seed. I spent a couple of minutes looking at VCU's 2010-2011 run, and it was a glimpse into VCU's peak performance during the regular season. Looking at info from Sports Reference, VCU was #2 in 3pt attempts and makes, #58 in percentage. They averaged 9/23.8 in games they won and 6.5/21.4 in games they lost. They lived and died by the 3 - and opponent turnovers. That was abundantly clear in the tourney. By my quick count, they had 12 regular season games with 10+ 3s made. However, they had zero in the final 8 games, where they went 3-5. In the conference tournament (2-1), VCU averaged 8-20.7 from 3. In the NCAA tourney, they averaged 10.2/23.8 from 3 and 13 opponent turnovers. They got really hot while others got cold. In 4 of the 5 wins, their 3pt %-age was higher than the total FG percentage. For the subsequent 3 years at VCU, their 3-point shooting was significantly worse. Shaka leveraged that outlier into a higher national profile and ultimately a better job. Even after that f4 run, 2011 KenPom has VCU as the #53 team. Not that it matters...
  12. 47-33 in 2nd half. Well done, Rodney Terry.
  13. Texas is up 20 with competent coaching and clean officiating
  14. She seems to have transformed a bit since her Drury days. https://gculopes.com/staff-directory/molly-miller/573 https://drurypanthers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/coaches/molly-miller/236 https://x.com/MollyMiller33/status/1242882371449491456/photo/1

  17. Decent input so far, for the most part. I coached a 7th-8th grade boys "did not make MS team" rec team for DS1. My thoughts... 1 - plan every practice - every minute of every practice - bring in a timeline to follow 2 - dribbling, passing, layups, shots inside the box are 100% the hey 3 - find ways to do drills where there is competition and scoring. Example - if you score, you get N points for N passes MAYBE try to practice free throws, but infrequently, esp at 4th grade. Also - take a couple of breaks - kids will do what they want at that point - jack up outside shots; sit down; talk We did the weave as a part of the layup practice. It worked very well.

  19. True, but that was not my angle. His control of the English language and ability to articulate a single thought was in the upper 1% of Finebaum callers. I did not listen long enough for 100 callers, but you get the point.
  20. NSIAP - While driving between two appointments yesterday, I submitted myself to the Paul Finebaum show. He had Billy Liucci as a guest. Before and after, Finebaum took calls. I'll start by saying that Liucci was the smartest person Finebaum spoke to while I was listening. Liucci mentioned that Elko was taking over the defense and that what happened last year will not happen again this year. IIRC, they had some sort of audio clip of Elko. It's not a ringing endorsement of his co-DCs Bateman and Peterson. He's losing 3 defensive linemen, a couple of DBs, etc., so diving in to have more ownership is not exactly smart for his career at aTm. Seems like an odd/panic statement this early in his tenure, esp. given that the defense performed OK during the season. The defense did seem to wane in the latter part of the season in the latter part of games. Conditioning? Tells? Regardless, it seems odd to publicly declare it...
  21. The hall-of-famer reference is also noteworthy.
  22. Basic approach to handling efficiencies in business, government, etc. involves FIRST asking MANY questions: What is the charter? What do you deliver? Is it being done effectively? If not, what can be done to make it effective? What are the daily, weekly, etc. impediments to effectiveness? How can we get to the desired output meeting the key objectives? Once we address effectiveness, let's address efficiency. What is needed to increase output? What inputs can we adjust/reduce to get the same output. Efficiency is a ratio - mostly of output produced over input required to produce it. Elmo is addressing this from 1 dimension - reducing input. And he and his minions are doing it before actually understanding the problems and getting inputs from the main stakeholders.
  23. Rumor: A condition for Garrett re-signing was for the Browns to get a Super Bowl QB. Haslem: Super Bowl Champion Kenny Pickett!
