  1. I think that was at 10:43 - not 6 mins left... But I agree - however... It was 4th-11 from the UND 48. Perhaps they did not think they could get 11+ yards. The punt was mediocre and the Irish drove 78 yards in 5:44 to make it 27-3.
  2. With subjectivity involved in the playoff selection process, we will always have complaints and "told you so" from those who were left out, especially when a team gets crushed. Darn near every year, a similar thing happens in the NFL. In 2023, Houston beat Cleveland 45-14. KC beat Miami 26-7. Tampa blew out Philly. With that outcome, Cleveland, Miami, and Philly did not belong in the playoffs. Who cares - we have football games As noted, IU likely gets into the top-12 using most other metrics, too. Simulated BCS had them at 8. Sagarin had them at 11. Massey composite has them at 7. For UND - simulated BCS would have them at 3. Sagarin has them at 1. Massey composite has them at #2. It was not a great draw for IU. Simulated BCS would have had Boise travel to IU. That would have been interesting.
  3. Cignetti said that last December when he was hired. He was asked how he will be able to sell his vision of the culture to recruits, existing players, and transfers. He said, "It's pretty simple. I win. (pause) Google me." IMO it is a fair response. His record was 119-35 before getting to IU. His JMU teams were 52-9 in 5 years. Yes, he wins. It is true. Cignetti turned over the majority of the starting lineup. He took the top players on his JMU team (OL, WR, RB, TE, DL, LB, CB), added a few players from Ohio (WR, QB), signed a WR from Texas Tech, an RB from Wake, a DB from Old Dominion, etc. The talent level was clearly below Notre Dame. That said, the team plays sound football. They just got out-athlete'd, IMO. There may be some comments about getting out-schemed, but I saw schemes that tried to mitigate IU's weaknesses. Notre Dame exploited those mitigations. I was hopeful for IU. It will be interesting to see how IU performs in the coming years.
  4. If his action figure can go on a diet, so can he.
  5. Yes. ASU football site and Carrington's LinkedIn indicate it. https://thesundevils.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/bryan-carrington/5165
  6. I've watched a couple ND games this year: aTm, part of NIU, Purdue, some of GT, Navy, and USC. Similarly, I have watched some IU games this year: Michigan, tOSU, and some of Purdue. I cannot really tell if either of these teams is any good. ND's SOS is 64. IU's is 74. Fwiw, IU got whipped by tOSU, but tOSU also had TD drives with short fields due to IU's inferior special teams play. That said, IU has a statistically good rush defense for a reason: they played teams with crappy run offenses. Given each team has at least 12 games under its belt, rush offense rankings have some meaning. The best running team IU played was tOSU, ranked 52. 6 of their opponents were not in the top-100. 3 more were in the 90s. Early in the year, you could say "because of their defense" - now, it is because they played crappy running teams. What I find interesting is that UND is only -6.5. Some predictors - based on computer models - would have them as -8 on a neutral site, placing them at -11 since it is a home game. Perhaps the cold weather is causing the derate, or lack of confidence in their ability to blow someone out, or heavy money on IU. I see this as an entertaining game, and will be cheering for IU. I hope they win by 10+
  7. He was 2023 national #83 for On3, so they could have said, "Top 83". He was 2023 national #102 for 247. "Top 102" Top 85 sounds better than top 100 I guess . Good PR

  9. On most forums, people pillory each other for less offensive shit than typos on "their, there, and they're." Welcome and enjoy. Regardless, history will be irrelevant for this. SWC - not relevant. Big12 - not relevant. Clemson's dominance in the bag-game late 2010s - not relevant. THIS YEAR, Texas is a superior team to Clemson - shown above - and should win by 2 TDs. I recall Clemson fans looking for QB2 last year when Klubnick struggled against decent teams. He'll struggle on Saturday, as he has against good teams this year.
  10. There. Your Clampson degree is on display.
  11. I forgot about that . The woman who was the guidance counselor for that group seemed like she was herding cats as much as making sure the students were making proper academic progress. It was mind-boggling.
  12. I do not think all of the NIL money in the world could convince me to transfer from Stanford to OU.
  13. Agree. The Eagles are really good, though. It was a battery-free game, so that's always a plus from Philly.
  14. Hilarious. Edit: seems like Coker is the guy Dallas should have traded for.
  15. Worth a bump. This is a great series.
  16. The first time, I stopped a few mins into the 1st episode. Came back later and pushed through. Glad I did, as I was rewarded
  17. Great cut. Lyrics, for the unitiated. Oh yeah, oh, no, the train, the train Every two or three years the train kill somebody Every two or three years, yeah Everybody knows about the train, okay? You hear it constantly You... I, I think the train is a way to find your way out of this life If you get hit by it A couple of kids got hit by a Union Pacific train Carrying sheet metal and household appliances Through the pouring rain They were planning on getting married after graduation Had a little baby girl, trouble came and shut it down Things like that ain't supposed to happen In this quiet town Families are tight Good people, they still don't deadbolt their doors at night In this quiet town When we first heard opioid stories They were always in whispering tones Now banners of sorrow mark the front steps of childhood homes Parents wept through daddy's girl eulogies And merit badge milestones with their daughters and sons Laying there lifeless in their suits and gowns Somebody's been keepin' secrets In this quiet town They know how to live Good people who lean on Jesus They're quick to forgive In this quiet town Now whenever I'm near the town I'll find some reason to give And I will walk with the dead and the living where I used to live And every time I see my parents in the prime of their lives Offering their son the kind of love he could never put down Part of me is still that stainless kid, lucky In this quiet town Salt of the land Hard-working people, if you're in trouble They'll lend you a hand Here in this quiet town The first crop of hay is up School let out and the sun beats down Smoke billows from a Sunday train That cries away from a quiet town
  18. IIRC, Gilbert got booed against BYU in 2011. 70+ year old lady 2 rows in front of me was booing about as loudly as anyone. I expressed, to no one in particular, but perhaps to the person I was with, "C'mon, this is not necessary. He knows he's struggling." 70+ year old lady turns to me and says, "If we do not boo him, Mack will leave him in." I told her that Mack has a close-up of what we are watching - or something like that. A few plays later, he was removed for David Ash. She turns to me and yells, "See! Told ya so!" Ok, wow. SMH
  19. Phonetically- up to you. As spelled - nope.
  20. Perhaps that's why Bouwmeester was chosen over Crimmins (Purdue). Crimmins has 2 years left. Bouwmeester has 1.
  21. Statistically, the Crimmins (Purdue) and Bouwmeester (Utah), were very similar. Crimmins: 64-2871 (44.9), net of 41.8 (top 25), 27% inside 20. Bouwmeester: 60-2680 (44.7), net of 40.4 (top 50), 38% inside 20. Crimmins was honorable mention in the big10, behind Czaplicki (USC - 48.5, 45.7, 60%), Eckley (MSU - 47.9, 41.2, 14%), and Dakin (Iowa - 44.2, 40.0, 45%). For what it's worth.
