  1. My strident post from ~ 1 month ago did not age well. Steelers finished out 1-5, including the playoffs. Cleveland finished out 4-2, including 2-0 against the Steelers.
  2. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/30685827/houston-texans-ignored-search-firm-hiring-gm-nick-caserio-sources-say If only Texas had ignored K-F, too. That said, it looks like the Texans screwed the pooch here. Khan and ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Louis Riddick, who are both minority candidates, were the two finalists before Texans owner Cal McNair changed his mind, ignored the recommendation of the search firm he paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to do weeks of work and hired former New England Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio, sources said.
  3. First, not a fan of Jeff Fisher. Second, if Tennessee brings him in and he follows the ASU/Herm Edwards plan for building a staff and program, I think he could be successful. Tennessee's most successful years corresponded to these programs being down: Bama, LSU, Texas, Auburn, etc. Plus, they cheated their asses off. ASU treats its program as NFL-prep. I see that as Tennessee's best option and worth the risk.
  4. Yes. He had around 250 passing and almost 100 rushing.
  5. Collective IQ of both Vandy and Auburn will go up.
  6. If we'd only been a little more patient... He's Herman level unlikable.
  7. Being out-coached by Kirby Smart should be a disqualifier for the Texas job.
  8. Not sure if you're serious. Wisconsin scored 7, 6, and 7 against NW, Indiana, and Iowa this year.

  10. I've coached youth sports for all of my kids, but mostly while they were under 11 years old. I believe the only time I raised my voice while coaching was to tell my son, "Please do not talk to the ref. Please do not talk to the ref." I had a couple of experiences. This is fairly minor in comparison to other stories. In 5th grade rec soccer, we had a fairly competitive team. No "star" players and each kid knew how to play and play in position. About 6 games in, we were playing another undefeated team and their "star" player was rendered ineffective. His hero ball was easily countered with a double-team. Kid was getting really frustrated and ultimately received a yellow card for conduct and the coach pulled him. After the game, kid's older brother grabs a soccer ball and throws it into the back of the HS age official. The kid's parents did nothing, so I recommended the ref stand near me while I called the commissioner. My oldest also played 6th grade Pop Warner tackle football, in the (misplaced) theory that it would prepare him for MS football. One of our games was against a team from Pflugerville. They showed up with a non-dad head coach - young, former athlete - in tow. I am not sure that any of the coaches had kids on the team; that was a yellow flag for me. En route to a 48-6 loss, about 6 of our players were injured, including 2 concussions. Some from poor form; some from just getting beat up. Two things stand out from that. First, the Pflugerville fans treated every TD or big play like it was the first time they'd ever seen a TD: screaming, high 5s, dancing, etc. Second, once you are winning by a large amount, the clock is free running and all plays must be run between the tackles. Opposing coach spread the OL so that the tackles we on the hashes. Nice.
  11. Both Beck and Orlando are nominees: https://broylesaward.com/posts/broyles-award-announces-2020-nominees/
  12. Perhaps what we are "hearing" right now is a focused, concerted effort to identify the AD, BMD, or Regents mole.

At #17: Roger Blackwell Another new entry to the list! Roger Blackwell is a marketing expert, author and public speaker who has worked with the likes of Les Wexner and Jack Welch. Mr. Blackwell was formerly a marketing professor at Ohio State University before being sentenced to 6 years in federal prison for his role in the Worthington Food insider trading scandal. He was released from prison in 2014.
  14. https://247sports.com/college/texas/Article/Texas-Longhorns-football-Keaontay-Ingram-running-back-opting-out-156023832/ Ingram must not know that Drayton coached for Meyer at both UF and tOSU.
  15. https://247sports.com/college/texas/Article/Texas-Longhorns-football-Keaontay-Ingram-running-back-opting-out-156023832/ The source said Ingram is concerned his running backs coach Stan Drayton will lose his job if Herman is let go. Of all the offensive coaches on the staff, I'd think Drayton is most likely to be retained, given he worked for Meyer at Florida and tOSU
  16. They've only beaten 1 team with a winning record: the Colts. The 8 wins have come against teams with a combined record of 26-53-3 (30.5%). The 3 losses have come against teams with combined record of 23-10 (70%). 11-0 Pittsburgh beat them 38-7. 6-5 Baltimore beat them 38-6 6-5 Raiders beat them 16-6 They suck.
  17. This Kirk Barton? Seems like a good guy https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football/2018/06/93915/former-ohio-state-lineman-kirk-barton-indicted-on-two-felonies elaware County indicted former Ohio State offensive lineman Kirk Barton on Friday stemming from a June 1 incident at the Bogey Inn following a day at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin. The Inn's management phoned the Sheriff's office and requested the removal of Barton, whom they judged to be intoxicated after stumbling into multiple guests. Delaware County Sheriff's deputies escorted Barton into a waiting taxi. Communication broke down, and the ensuing dispute resulted in deputies tasering and arresting Barton. From 10TV: Delaware County charged Barton with one count of assault, a fourth-degree felony, and one count of obstructing official business, a fifth degree felony. Fourth-degree felonious assault is punishable by a prison term of six to 18 months in prison fines of up to $5,000. If obstruction of official business creates a risk of harming someone, it's a fifth-degree felony punishable by up to a year in jail.
  18. That 70yd TD with ~4 mins left was vintage Steeler 4th quarter defense from around 2012-2019. Up 10-14, they always seemed to surrender points to make the game closer than it needed to be or to lose. This year, they've outscored their opponents consistently in the 4th.
  19. First thought was a quick chat with Matt Canada (Pitt QB coach) or Teryl Austin (former DC for Meyer at UF), but Steelers play Ravens tomorrow at 3:40p ET. On NBC. Perhaps they need to empty the latrine and Allegheny is as good a place as any.
  20. Darn near every man on here (and perhaps some women) would agree that Michelle Herman and Kendra Scott are easy on the eyes. In that regard, Tom Herman's no different than any of us.
  21. In the late 60s, you went to grad school. Given Texas's present OL and S&C situations, you hire experts to help with technique, speed, agility, etc. Plus, you have ZERO chance of getting hurt by opting out of KSU, KU, and whatever 3rd tier bowl Texas plays in.
  22. I'll; try! This woman is nowhere. In Kim's league, Kim is. Probably laughs every day that. Her ex dates a great. Value version of her... Fixed?
  23. Couple of comments on this thread. TCAD's rolling its values YOY is a huge long-term boon for them. No need to apply resources on appraisers or researchers for the past 12 months. No need to apply resources on protests Tax rolls will increase due to "assessed value" increases Most protest aggregators will be put out of business (as noted earlier) TCAD (and other appraisal districts) will change land/improvement value when the improvement valuation exceeds cost to replace the structure by a certain amount. If I recall correctly, it was 1.2x in Travis a few years ago. It typically is revisited based on the status for an entire entire neighborhood. TCAD has a fairly decent search feature and, with it, you can download CSV files based on your search criteria. The CSV can be read into Excel or parsed using some fairly straightforward code. I downloaded information from 2018, 2019, and 2020 for 2 zip codes in Travis county and found the following: 2018 -> 2019 valuation changes for all homes 16.5% decreased 3.7% no change 79.9% increase 13.5% increase by more than 10% Over 7% turnover on ownership 2019 -> 2020 valuation changes for all homes 0.4% decreased 92.8% no change 2.8% increase 0.8% increase by more than 10% Over 5% turnover on ownership My homestead was one that increased by more than 10%. My home was the only home in the neighborhood to change value and 3 homes sold in 2019. In fact, one of them sold for 20% more than 2019 valuation and retained its 2019 valuation. I called TCAD and an appraiser called me back. He told me that a functional obsolescence factor (agreed to in a 2015 formal hearing) had been removed from my valuation. This was capricious and indefensible, but it is up to me to defend, of course. Sigh....
  24. Given how important S&C coaches are to the day-to-day operations, why would Smart hire Cochran into a position-coach role? It certainly will rattle the foundation of the Bama program, which has significant value to Georgia. That said, why not also place Cochran in a position where he will have access to the players on a daily basis?
