  1. Lol what a muppet, when the QB doesn't want to be on the field, take him out and give him what he wants
  2. Casey not throwing picks last few weeks has been nothing short of miraculous, he's been playing with fire
  3. Roach really is the most useless lame duck 9.95er this program has seen since I got interested in recruiting
  4. Mims made some of his own, and therefore, Williams' luck. In the end that's what football is. What's spectacular about Williams is his size, speed, and arm strength at his age. I'm one of those that would side with Rattler being the far better player when locked in and in the zone. Seems as though he's lost his own teammates though and being an entitled bitch makes it unlikely he can recover from this at OU. A net positive for anyone not a meth head
  5. I mean, why not? The obvious pro for Arch is his name and class bell-cow potential. Murphy needs experience and development, but that's expected and he is a year ahead of Arch. As for their on field talent they are very different types of player but probably a wash between the two.
  6. How much time does a new coaching staff spend in one off-season teaching their scheme and assignments vs shit like tackling fundamentals? I have to think that with limited time, you have to focus on assignments and practicing formations and concepts, and tackling fundamentals are things you hope a college player can stay disciplined enough to execute at a functional minimum once they get the scheme down. In practice, the defense has a lot of JAGs that should never be starting for a healthy blue blood program, and some decent players that are going against other decent or elite players more than capable of making them miss. We have not evaluated, recruited, or developed at an acceptable level over the past 4 years at least of Tom Herman / Orlando on defense (among other positions but that's a different thread) PK and Choate have done an OK job teaching concepts and my litmus for that is # of blown coverages or getting set by the time the offense snaps the ball. Orlando after 3 years and Ash in his one year all had more lost players and more guys running completely free. Ash had better players starting both at the DLine, LB and Safety in 2020 than the 2021 group.
  7. Even then context matters, yes Bowman is legit but he still got pancaked on the first play of the biggest rivalry game for a 75 yard TD. Playing as true freshman in big games is definitely the exception, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with Sanders being brought on slowly, regardless of position
  8. Sounds like you're describing one Keondre Coburn
  9. Everyone who is mediocre and wants to get better has to in some way sell mediocrity. A bag man system, top conference schtick, NFL draft, and starting spots up for grabs are the aggy M.O. Who cares? We need the guys that in the last few years have gone to Ohio State, Stanford, Alabama, and now Oregon. Idgaf about aggy. We're about to crash their party and if we can't sell our own brand of mediocrity while looking to the future with the sales pitch of NIL bagmen, top conference schtick, and starting spots up for grabs to secure some of the 5 star pool then what are we doing here?
  10. The guy was rated due to potential at multiple positions. Same as a Bru McCoy or BJ Foster. These are high risk high reward ATH and many times take a good while to perfect a trade on the field at a blue blood P5. In the case of the above, potential didn't bear out to the expected ceiling. Sanders is extremely early in his development and I would argue the ball is more in his court than it is on the coaches at this point
  11. Juan Davis wins the "most physical" award out of the entire TE group. Wiley and Brewer really are pretty soft in their own rights, and I confess I haven't zeroed my eyes in on Helm enough to get an opinion. I have seen Sanders repeatedly miss blocks though, and yet he's slowly getting more run during special teams, which is traditionally where coaches gauge a new player and reward effort. Sanders needs to look like a dog wherever he is, and so far looks less than that. Doesn't mean he won't figure it out in the months or years to come, 95% of college football players go through this process. Sticking him at DE and saying "now we'll have a pass rush!" Is asinine
  12. So you think Sanders at DE could be anything more than a Jacoby Jones with less experience and strength right now?
  13. #1 player in his class by some metrics, throwing to top 5 players in their positions at WR, all the while our squad was being put together by the likes of Mehringer, Warehime, then Hand. If OU had just 1 #1 QB and not consecutive ones, it's likely OU keeps sputtering and comes up short in the comeback. Changeups are always dangerous and this one proved deadly. Thompson isn't in their league and I'm frankly amazed he's been putting up these numbers and TDs, with this line. That's Sark. Defensively, the senior leaders are Coburn, Foster, and the corners... Yeah... We've been here every year for the past 4 years going through the motions of missing the primary targets, and taking backups late based on some justification like they have big hands, and dunk a basketball or some shit. Orlando doing fuck all with LB recruiting. Herman lasted a year too long. Sark, PK, and Flood in 2020 give us the Brockermeyers, Ewers, and who knows what other guys we could really really use right now.
  14. Herman and Ash would have 3 losses on the season with this squad, and never would have been competitive during this game...
  15. Neal Brown and Tom Herman faced off last year. How fun was that game? *shudders*
  16. I mean, he had one true deep shot connection and it was, as deliberated on surly for weeks, underthrown. Colorado matched a lb slower than molasses running uphill in January with crutches on Kelvontay Dixon. He had all day to modulate his speed to have the ball drop in and then did the rest. iirc the other attempts further than 25 yds either fell long to Washington and/or PI. We've seen well over 20 deep attempts this season I believe, and very few have looked accurate or well timed.
  17. The very poor accuracy on throws beyond 20 yards has obviously affected Moore more than the other receivers. I don't see this changing drastically for the foreseeable future. The Worthy drop and the Whittington high point catch last game were on some pretty poorly delivered balls. Moore could keep working on drawing PI calls or something like that, and then count on some blown coverages
  18. PK has called it many times per game the whole season. It's either been picked up well by opponents or telegraphed before the snap, until this last one on Duggan. Either way, pretty sure Perkins prefers that over the other LB spots that have to deal with bigger linemen and more dirty work
  19. His highlights are almost entirely blitzing the QB almost exactly how Anthony Cook did vs TCU and getting the blindside sack fumble. I assume Perkins wants to keep doing that.
