Texas Recruiting Notes 2021
With what we know from reports and just seeing him on TV and interviews he's just a guy that thinks he's too smart for social etiquettes that might feel like a waste of time or unimportant. I relate to some degree since I was like that in my younger years but fortunately I've grown and also am not the head coach of the University of Texas FB team. He came in without tact and learned too slowly that a position like head coach at UT requires someone in full control of their image at all times, which requires humility and a lot of maturity. He was ultimately unsuccessful but he wasn't a total flameout. I interpret all of this as someone untidy, liberally using "foul" language, generally acting like an ass, talking down others... Falling far short of image requirements. I don't, however, assume he was ever showing up at recruits homes drunk, high, or with any other vice issues. I would think he would be fired long before year 4 if that were the case

As a hispanic, I have no reservations with the generalization that voting "latinos" would feel disenfranchised by the love BLM is getting from the Dems, almost as if in solidarity with the All Lives Matter crowd. Adding to that, voting Texicans are hardly to be considered culturally anything but regular brisket-on-flour-tortilla Texans like any other rural white person. Rough analogy but they are not the same Hispanics you see in the urban centers- Where Do Democrats Go From Here

As long as the military is worshipped in this country, from an immediate numbers perspective there's not much can be done other than appeal to right wingers. Most of them would love left leaning policies but have been conditioned to overvalue right wing symbolism, flag, god, jets in formation, tacticool gear On the other hand, dems need to lean into a little more populism and much less of the affluent suburbanite schtick The great divider in this country is money not skin color or ethnic background. Trump's lowest point among his supporters was the trillions in tax cuts to the wealthy, not his handling of covid or anything else. The bulk of his base are not traditional Republicans and dislike the economic policies pushed by conservative economic libertarians from within the GOP. Dems transforming themselves into an economic left party would tear at the seams of the Republican coalition. Of course, they're more likely to keep shifting to the economic right, chasing lincoln project grifters rather than the millions of people in this country desperate for help - Sark after dark COACHING STAFF thread
