  1. For all those rubes (mostly in Norman/Cstat) that tell us every time that X or Y coach wouldn't take the Texas job. Here's a recap of the last decade of the big 3 sports 2013/14: Nick Saban is ready to come to Texas before Mack gets his way. This was after 4 NCs and 3 of the previous 5. 2020/21: Urban Meyer is very interested in the job and likely takes it if either the Jags don't come calling or NIL was added a year earlier. 2021: Chris Beard takes the job the second it opens 2 years removed from a runner up finish. Best young coach in the game at the time. 2024: Jim Schlossnagle takes a mediocre baseball program to relevance and mere seconds after finishing runner up in the programs only ray of hope in any major sport takes the Texas job.
  2. I think yall are reading way to much into that response. Regardless of him taking this job or not he just got as close to his life long goal of winning the CWS. If he takes the job he already knows he's going to be the goat for life. As much as we love to hate those guys most of these elite coaches just want to win regardless of the uniform they have on. I'd be showing a lot of angst as well in that situation.
  3. My theory for the evening. Liucci & Rogers aren't denying the smoke to not ruin their potentially historic game tonight. If they lose they'll leak the Schloss to Texas story post game or early morning to cry foul that he did them dirty. This will be an attempt to play victim again and try to hamstring Schloss/Texas in the portal/recruiting.
  4. You're correct there but if Schloss comes to Austin I'd bet our hual from college station will be less than 5 dudes who'd follow him to the end of the earth. The other college baseball transfers who'd make a difference year 1 are who most are worried about
  5. Important dates regarding the Texas hire/college baseball schedule. Current p players have until July 2nd to enter the portal. Regardless of what happens with the Texas hire they'll have about 7 days to decide whether to follow their current coach (Schloss etc) which usually happens depending on the caliber of coach (see Riley/Caleb Williams). If the Ags lose tomorrow I would put a Wednesday/Thursday timeline on us hiring a new coach depends on result for portal considerations. Secondly regardless of what happens tomorrow we have a coach who is: 1. Aware of College baseball history. Does he want to be a legend is BCS or go down in Augie territory with 3+ dog piles in Omaha? 2. A single coach staying in Texas with a recently sold home and no attachment to BCS making his decision by himself with no in home force making decisions for him. Regardless of tomorrow's outcome Schloss will be ahorn by weeks end based on all that we've seen to date.
  6. No they really don't. It's wild every time they downplay this job. This point is correct but they have also lost a coach in 2/3 of the major men's sports to the bluest of blue bloods. Just one to more to complete the trifecta. Football- Bryant to Alabama Basketball- Gillespie to Kentucky Baseball- Schloss to Texas?
  7. He also said this 2 weeks ago. It's not like he buys into the cult like the Elk does.
  8. SIAP but what brutal CWS draw for Tennessee as the #1 seed. Coming in their bracket pairings all had sub 15 losses while the UK/a&m bracket has two 20+ loss teams and only two national seeds.
  9. From a X account that covers Texas independently. 5k followers. Anybody know their history of accuracy on Texas sports?
  10. The Sexton angle here is very interesting. During the Sark assistant hirings there were murmurs here that his son was updating wikipedia when hires were getting finalized behind the scenes. Somebody smarter than me can check the IP address location of the recent wiki changes saying Vitello was the new Texas head coach. Screenshots of the Sark hires and discussion from 2021
  11. And he this in the last week. "I didn't leave for a better job, I left for a different job." Schlossnagle told ESPN. https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/40239132/texas-baseball-national-powerhouse-grand-expensive-vision He's got no affinity for that place and didn't he only leave TCU due to a divorce?
  12. Vitello has to be the guy if we move on from Pierce. He has yet to win the big one but he's now gone to 4 supers in a row and accounted for 1/3 of Tennessee's CWS trips and half their Supers. He's also averaging about 50 per year the last 4. For reference Pierce has just one since being hired. Also if we play the AD relationship game to see who CDC has a history with its either Vitello (TCU 11-13) or Saarloos (14-present). This is assuming Schloss stays put in the Jimbo of College baseball role he's gotten pretty good at.
  13. Big news for the elite recruits we are/will be in on. Ron Holland would be a horn if this had been a year earlier
  14. Not defending Beard to the stake here but are these guys also coming in with nuclear DV headlines with their name in it? Had he left Texas clean to take OM over he would have gotten better assistants, portals, and recruits. Heck Pitino needed a conference tournament run to make the field his first year at Iona before settling in to win the conference the last 2 years. I do think his stock is forever tainted from his departure here and will hold him back from getting back to Tech/Texas levels. But calling year 1 at Ole Miss a failure is a little much for a program with 5 tournament wins all time.
  15. Back into collecting cards again and here are my Longhorn acquisitions/pulls from the first 2 months. Accidentally bought two Melendez's but the more the merrier.
  16. Update on transfer portal rankings. This is the tweet version of the UCLA gif
  17. With all the additions and QE + others returning we should be 1A/1B with Georgia. Here's what teams are returning their QB, HC, and both primary coordinators.
  18. What's funny is Bjork has a connection to Jack Harbaugh from time spent at WKU. They needed one last FU to tOSU before they head back to the NFL.
  19. We didn't get visits from AD or Bond when they were in high school either that I could find. Those recruitments turned out fine I think. Obviously a huge hurdle but not a deal killer.
