  1. NIL and Portal will be a net benefit for the sport long term because it helps keep blue bloods relevant year in and out. Due to the variance in this sport there will be the occasional David v Goliath moments that we all crave and remember forever. It will only truly kill 4 schools on the west coast where there was already 1 mass exodus that took a lot of college sports watching eyeballs with it anyhow.
  2. The ACC will be fine. If they lose anybody it will be FSU and Clemson or UNC. They will back fill with some ~50 ranked brands and continue on. There is no room in the SEC/Big10/Big12 for more than 2 schools to fit into those conferences. A P4 model fits the current trajectory of the college sports landscape better than 5 does hence the PAC murder.
  3. The Rose wanted to get a permanent QF or SF to stay on NYD but the committee didnt budge. Seems like they will rotate with preference given to traditional tie ins dependent on who advances.
  4. They will be at least a QF site like the other NY6 bowls.
  5. Since there are 12 teams with the top 4 getting a bye there will be 4 home games for higher seeds then into the big bowls. The NY6 + a new bowl getting upgraded makes the most sense so we don't have Northwestern playing Oregon State in a Rose Bowl that has no meaning.
  6. Rose Bowl affiliations are going away when they get a guaranteed playoff rotation in a couple years
  7. I assumed that as well. No reason Oregon and Washington should get less than $50 million while Purdue and Rutgers are close to $100 million or whatever the escalators end up at.
  8. The remaining 9 teams (Zona included or SDSU) would have to take a haircut from $20 million/year down to roughly $17.5 million to get Oregon/UW to the Big 12's $31 million. It is worth it to the non Big 12 invitees but Utah/ASU/Arizona would be stupid to agree to such.
  9. This probably tells more about the Oregon/Washington smoke being real. The PAC will have 4 teams left over after this to merge with the MWC's 11. Does a 15 team PAC/MWC get closer to the $4 million MWC deal or $20 million PAC deal?
  10. The big 10 isn't adding those schools if/when Oregon/Washington make the jump. Kansas was speculated because of the basketball side when the Big12 was rocky and nothing ever came of it for the same reasons.
  11. FSU and Clemson leaving won't kill the ACC. The reason the PAC is dying is that they're losing their 4 biggest brands and Colorado. The ACC will have to backfill with a Sun Belt raid or Memphis/SMU but they'll still be the clear 4th in the new P4. A P4 makes the most sense in the expanded playoff era for potential auto bids and scheduling with the top 2 conferences.
  12. Of all the names flying around the only schools that don't crater the Big10 and SEC tv value are Oregon, Washington, Clemson, and FSU. Every other team (Stanford, Cal, UNC etc.) are ranked outside the top 40 in average viewers last year while Washington is the lowest of the big 4 at 34. Taking in those 4 may not add full media share value to those conferences but it does help offset the negative values of the Vanderbilts and Rutgers of the world.
  13. Networks need these games to survive so they will always value them much higher than streamers who can live off of content they produce/d. Keeping this sport on networks/cable is the only way for it to survive and continue to grow.
  14. I would love for them to come to the 12 if possible. Then add Uconn/Gonzaga for hoops only and that is #3 in football, #1 in hoops, and #2 in baseball. Hard to beat that.
  15. But I was told on here last week that Oregon wasn't big enough for the Big10 to be interested.
  16. Probably a no for now with a huge buyout to leave the Big 12 for 10-15 years. Oregon just needs a commitment to cover that from Knight and I bet they'll move quickly. With the Big 10 and NBC now in bed that makes ND (who just joined the AAU last month) a real possibility in '31. Oregon would be the best match for them to pair with at that time.
  17. If a couple ACC teams bolt then they can pawn WVU/Cincy and UCF on the ACC and take those 5 or 6.
  18. It'll be a part of the expanded playoff rotation permanently so this is a moot point.
