  1. The argument that seniors are getting pushed out due to property taxes is basically a lie. Most of the taxes freeze at what you paid at 65.
  2. Developers don't do any of that. Demand does that and we don't control that. Don't be an idiot. God I'd love if I could manufacture demand I do not like OU
  3. It's more that she went from eccentric to BATSHIT with an intention of fucking with the dumbass 'developers'. I'm in general a fan of eccentric, but if someone ever installed neon pink lighting to intentionally shine into one of my projects... well, it would quite a coincidence that some guys showed up in the middle of the night smashed/stole all the neighbors 'art'.
  4. Of course I watch HGTV. Laughing at those dumbasses is very entertaining! Pintrest though? Hmm, not so much.
  5. That's not a problem to find. They just didn't build something that actually would still for that. This is what happens in hot markets. People think they can do this for after watching HGTV and looking at Pinterest. That said the neighbor is kind of an asshole. I do not like OU
  6. Sure it's different. That's why it's a bullshit argument. It isn't like this is their only chance to earn a living, just maybe to hit a home run. I doubt any of them would be have trouble getting a job, maybe not a cushy job, but they will be able to no provide just fine I do not like OU
  7. They'll be able to provide for their families regardless. No Texas ex player is every going to have trouble finding a job if they are at least reasonably competent. I do not like OU
  8. Just had another thought. Maybe this selfishness is a good thing. It makes the non CFP bowl games, even the new years 6, devalued. Playing a game with your stars is a joke and is bad for college football so maybe this will pay the NCAA to get rid of all the bowls and expand the CFP to 16, 20, 24 teams. Probably not, but we can hope I do not like OU
  9. The chances of having a career ending injury are small, even the chances of having an injury that hurts your draft spot are small. It can happen, but it's small. I see no difference in sitting out a bowl game vs sitting out there end of the season. If their future rearming potential is the only thing that matters, then why not sit out as soon as your team is eliminated from CFP contention, or conference championship contention? Winning the sugar bowl this year is readily as important to our program as winning the Big12 title would have been, but by your logic, all these guys should have started sitting out after the WVU loss as we were eliminated from the CFP by that point and most, if not all, haven't changed their draft position significantly since. College Athletics is not just a minor league for the NFL. If we're going to start treating it as such, then we should just start paying these guys and eliminate any academic requirements for them. I do not like OU
  10. He didn't sit it the NCAA tournament. Granted different than s non cfp bowl game. I'm not a fan of players leaving early, especially after freshman year but you at least complete your season I do not like OU
  11. Any player that sits out the bowl game because they are going pro should never be welcome on campus again I do not like OU
  12. Umm, there were plenty of guys from the 13 squad playing on the 14 and plenty of our commits were before Mack even had been fired. There's no rewriting history with Strong at Louisville. If the old board wasn't dead, you could see plenty of people questioning the hire for those very reasons. Strong got hired because we couldn't get Saban or Briles (thankfully). After that, it was the media going on about how poor Charlie Strong waited soooooooooo long for his chance to be a head coach, constantly being passed over until finally Louisville game him a shot and then it was just all about his record those last two seasons (with zero analysis about the quality of those wins). Then you add in the people like the poster earlier that just think we HAD to give a black coach a chance due to prior sins and A&M having hired one already. Remember the bug wig idiots that wanted to hire Dennis fucking Green instead of Mackovic? They were still around. There was pretty much zero chance we were hiring anyone except Strong at that point.
  13. No, Mack wasn't supposed to teach shit. His job was to recruit and hire the right guys to do the coaching. Obviously we all felt GDGD was subpar, but he could have been a lot worse, and outside of Akina and _iaz, his DC hires were pretty damn good.
  14. I don't think Ward spoke out about it in Central, he seemed more in favor of it. He spoke out against it in the south. Either way, I think both of then are somewhat aligned with the issues 8 finds important. Their differences are a lot less than the ones in District 3. I do not like OU
  15. Like I said, it seemed he was talking out of both sides of his mouth. There are some people, particularly in the NE and E sections of 8 that are pretty hard core NIMBY, so he does need to cater to them somewhat. He's big on property taxes, which admittedly the city council can't do a ton on but they can make noise and push politics.. The problem is that the sprawl is already here and that our infrastructure is overwhelmed. You obviously need increased urban density to keep the sprawl from getting worse, but Ellis is on record as opposing the construction at the 290/71 Y in Oak Hill. That's insane. Her reasoning is both environmental and 'neighborhood character', but the sprawl is already well past that intersection and the problem needs to be fixed (much like LaCross/Salughter and SH-45). I'm not saying I support decking every highway down here to double the traffic capacity (and double the urban sprawl with it), but growth is happening, regardless and you have to update your infrastructure with it. She more concerned with stopping it all together. I can't agree with that. And while ultimately the highways aren't directly the City Council's call, just like property taxes, they have no direct authority, but that doesn't mean they can't have significant influence.
  16. The cupboard wasn't half as bare as the Charlie lovefest wanted us to believe. Mack was far from perfect, particularly at the end, but he had enough talent to win 8 games his last year and I guarantee we would have won more than 16 games over the next three years had Mack stayed. The biggest problem Mack had was staying Manny _iaz after year 2. He didn't want to have full turnover of the staff again so quickly and after Harsin bolted, he chose to stick with _iaz. It was time for Mack to go, but Strong was just a lazy hire. He wasn't that great at Louisville and his on the field game was practically a mirror of Mack (underperforming offenses, failed to rise to the level on too many big games, etc.). There were plenty of coaches out there that could have fixed the entitlement issues of the players without wrecking the program. Strong may have left more talent than Brown did, I think that's debatable given how thin we still are at so many positions, but one thing that Mack left that Charlie didn't was an expectation to win. The players Charlie left expected to lose. That should NEVER happen at Texas.
  17. Could have been the world's best proctologist
  18. I actually think he's just playing politics. There's a couple guys in my infill builder's group who are pretty heavily involved in politics and they think Ward is a friend to increased density. He's just pushing the 'neighborhood character' angle for the NIMBY votes. I sent him a facebook message and asked him "How do you up-zone in key transit corridors without 'impinging on the character of existing neighborhoods'? " His response was typical political speak, but the feeling I got was that he was fine with up-zoning in central Austin more broadly and along key corridors in the south, but he just didn't want to see ADU's, triplexes, whatever in places like Legend Oaks/Circle C. Ellis also supports up-zoning, but she's been heavily involved with a lot of environmental groups that have opposed things like the SH-45 extension, Slaughter/LaCross over passes, etc. Her idea of environmentalism is put everybody downtown and stop all progress in South Austin, including anything that would actually help traffic. So if you like traffic, she's a good person to vote for.
  19. http://www.kut.org/post/early-voting-runoff-elections-central-texas-has-begun-heres-everything-you-need-know Early voting in the run-offs starts today. These races tend to have low turnout and are really close, so if you're in District 1,3, or 8, GET YOUR ASS OUT AND VOTE
  20. And nobody was interested in Spike Dikes who stayed on forever, you fired Leach who managed a whopping 1 season with more than 10 wins, hired a has been who was mediocre at best and bolted for a mid-tier school, and then gambled huge on someone that didn't work out. Come back and talk when you have some who's really successful and sticks around afterward.
  21. David McWilliams. But to be fair we would have been happy to return him I do not like OU
  22. We made it. You lived. And 20 years later you're still bitchin' smh

    LSU @ aggy

Somebody above quoted a good explanation. This thread is long as shit, I just missed it I do not like OU
  24. Or you know they could just schedule some regular season games on 'championship'. OU would have done just fine inthe optics department playing OSU or WVU next weekend in a regular season game I do not like OU
  25. It's a bit earily like 2001 though. After Aggy in 01, sitting at 10-1, we were a lock for the sugar bowl as an at large. They blow u lost to ok Aggy and we go to the CCG, loser and get relegated to the holiday bowl. This year, if there were no CCG or WVU hadn't lost to OSU, OU likely end up in CFP and we go to Sugar at the Big12 replacement. Instead, a play OU and while we may still 3nd up in the Sugar Bowl with a loss, they probably take WVU over a 4 loss Texas. Still like the opportunity to play for the conference title, but sucks if we end up in the Alamo bowl. I do not like OU
