  1. I still remember one year he lead the league in TD catches and dropped passes.
  2. Terrell Owens. he dropped a lot of passes on his way to a hall of fame career.
  3. I got 100 that he plays at least 8 games. I’m not willing to go super big money but I’ll definitely bet a round of cheap drinks.
  4. I don’t think he is terrible. I think he is overhyped and good at things outside of what his position asked for. Pairing him with Brock made it worse. I also agree that our defense didn’t help him at all. We looked ok until Jones went down. It went down hill after that. I hope he balls this year and gets drafted high. Curious to see if having better line play or moving him around let’s him flourish. I believe that Ford will be our best LB this year.
  5. Overshown is a great athlete. Not a good LB up to this point. He hasn’t shown he is good at LB things. He is good in space but attacking and fighting off/through blockers? Making the right reads and gap integrity? Not saying he can’t improve with his first fulL offseason, just up to now he makes the flash plays but not the consistency needed from a top flight LB. Luke knew where to be but he is just limited as an athlete so he can’t get there. I remember people being excited about Richardson transferring in, but never heard anything about him once he got here. Anybody know what happened? Was he a guy that should have stayed in a lower division?
  6. Bo is going to have to earn his salary and find a way to keep Sweat and Collins’ motor running. Those two with Murphy would change a lot of thoughts for this defense. Ford and Dorsey are upgrades at LB because we honestly had the worst LB in the Big 12. how old is Ojomo now?
  7. Everybody is bringing up bags but Hill is a special case. Yeah they dropped the bags but they also were pretty much the leader his whole recruitment so it was a place he was interested in before whatever bad he got offered to shut it down. He didn’t give Texas a chance to match offer cause truthfully that’s where he/his family always wanted to go. It’s some people on here who know the inside story with the family and confirm this, his family had doubts about the Texas defense based on what they saw last year. They worried about DLine play. Aggie were able to sell him on having nothing but five stars in front of him to keep him clean. Give the staff credit for getting back in the recruitment cause in the spring they were an after thought. Texas’ only chance was to keep the recruitment open for as long as possible to show some improvement in the DLIne that they told the family about. The Texas NIL pitch has been a game changer. It won’t win every recruitment but it has allowed us to get into some recruitments we would have never been able to in the past especially after the season we just had. If Texas was coming off an 9-3 season this class would be crazy but the truth is we are a 5-7 team until we show otherwise. Still looking like a great class with multiple 5 stars. After we win 9 this year the field will be even more tilted our way with the NIL doing it’s part.
  8. I’d say yes. Texas wins 9 games this year and it will be hard to fire your DC after a 4 game improvement. I also think GP doesn’t want to be the DC. He is enjoying the ability to be around the game but with no pressure. This year is about learning Offense from Sark as much as it is helping tie up the secondary to the front end for the defense. GP wants another head coaching job.
  9. He is already walking it back cause it shouldn’t have been reported because technically he can’t have a headset that has a microphone for him to speak. “Legally” he can only listen.
  10. That makes perfect sense until you look at the other corner and it’s a 5’9 Jamison.
  11. Man I hope so. The thought of Jerin Thompson starting again this year worries me. People talk about Foster’s play last year but Thompson was pretty terrible too.
  12. I feel the exact same. To go further I wish we played Watts at safety and Crawford at corner. But the coaches want the best corner in the slot cause that’s where a lot of teams try to attack with their quickest WR. Watts at corner is because PK likes corners with length to play his version of cover 3. Also why Guilbeau was pushing Jamison so much in the spring. They want corners with length.
  13. Ol Drew is up in the PNW so it might be a little easier to get Derek in town to be set on fire. Tho there is going to be a lot of disappointed Surly members who were looking forward to your personal bonfire. Just make sure you put your card that is on file for the drinks in a safe place before you start the fire, whether it’s you or Tom’s whole initial staff that is getting the burn.
  14. No amount. You promised your Surly family you would shit out a solid gold football and set yourself on fire if Blue is still on the team Spring Game 2023. We are headed to an recession so just trying to get that gold football versus having to invest my own money in the gold market.
  15. If Texas wins 9 games and Blue is still on the team, next spring game is going to be epic.
  16. Speaking of Demas, did he ever find another school to transfer to?
  17. Arch might have the higher floor because of his training and pedigree, but Ewers ceiling is much higher. I think people are forgetting just how special Ewers’ arm is. I would rank Ewers higher if they were in the same class.
  18. Recruiting has gone very well for Texas and they have a chance to lock up the majority of the class before game one. In that situation there is not a lot of drama to drive site views and interactions. He just trying to stir up something.
  19. Agbo’s numbers surprised me as well. I just hope he has patience. I expect Williams and Banks to be ahead of him in his class at tackle. Hopefully he doesn’t mind redshirting and providing depth as career starts. Ross is smaller than I expected but IT also has reported that he is the best athlete out of the inside guys and may be able to move around some to find snaps. If Tapp and Finkley pan out as real players I’ll be happy as hell with the defensive class.
  20. Surprised in the weights for some of the freshmen DBs. That’s a big group but I expected Guilbeau to be listed as bigger than some of those other guys weight wise. Majors at 315 gives me some hope. If Tapp can keep that weight through fall camp he will be playing more than expected. If we ever get Big Cam down to 360 he is going to demolish people on the right side of that line.
  21. He wanted to stay and would have stayed if offered the opportunity. His dislike for Herman grew out of how Herman handled his “interview” and come in talking reckless to everybody associated with the program.
  22. Patterson has told multiple people in the coaching world that he was brought on to do two specific things. 1. Scout opponents defense 2. Scout our current defense and help Gideon and Joseph better merge the secondary with the front 6/7. They were duly aware that the front and back end didn’t mesh well. That hurt the team last year. At Washington Lake handled the DBs and understood what PK was trying to do. Patterson spends his time with Gideon and the secondary players. Focused on the backend during spring practice and added some coverages. I doubt we play the two high much and that’s the only thing that makes me have some hope. Still don’t think we are very athletic on the backend.
  23. We keep hearing that our coaches want more man coverage. Watts can press with his length but I don’t believe he has make up speed. Crawford does. Honestly I wanted Crawford and Barron to get the reps last year at corner. watts has a huge frame so him lurking over the middle from safety would be nice.
