  1. Never the less, I’ve already bench Big NASA and put 40 on some random online player with my Ewers to Bond connection.
  2. It’s a few Texas players not on the game right now. Big Cam and A. Collins two noteworthy names. Curious if they just didn’t opt in.
  3. Cook is well trained and prepared for the WR position from working with arguable the top WR trainer in state. Runs great routes and even has the prototype WR attitude. But Moore has a gear that flat out is god given. Super fast and the speed shows on the field not just in track times. Great in and out of breaks. Of course he could always bust or prove to be super soft. Believe it or not, Evan Stewart has some of those same crazy acceleration and speed qualities, he just is a pussy and his family talks to much.
  4. Another tidbit on the Roger’s recruitment, his head coach is who took him to his official visit to Texas. Coach Allen absolutely loves Coach Gilbert. Gilbert gave him his first two jobs and has been a driving force in his career advancement. Gilbert has kept Texas in this recruitment while Texas has played Rogers a little small while other schools applied full court pressure. If Texas wants Rogers and makes sure he knows he is not playing second fiddle, Texas can easily win this recruitment. Both Fasusi and Rogers are studs. I’m glad I don’t have to make a decision between the two.
  5. Kenny Baker, superstar recruiter on the way! In all seriousness, he is going to need NIL help with this class but the kids on campus like him and think he is really good at teaching pass rush. They think they have some guys who are going to break out. They also think they will have better sack totals due some changes in scheme from Nansen. A few people think Baker is an active recruiter, he just doesn’t have shit to sell right now. Bo was the opposite. Didn’t love recruiting but had a resume to sell.
  6. I know people who are close to the program/on staff at North Shore. Even coaches knew a lot of those kids were head cases, but Sanchez is the one kid who is pretty universally liked from there. The same coach who told me personally that Harris and Zach would flame out loves Sanchez and his mental makeup for football. I still don’t expect Texas to ever really be in contention for Sanchez though.
  7. I hope we sign all the DTs and DLine. Not saying it can’t happen but if Texas signs any of the linemen that are currently visiting it will be a come from behind win. Texas doesn’t/didnt lead for any of them heading into the weekend.
  8. People still love recruiting, just think it’s quite around here because this is our smallest OV weekend and there is not a lot expectations for the guys visiting this week. Outside of Chester, I don’t expect anybody who is visiting this weekend to eventually commit to Texas.
  9. Not CTJ but I’ve talked to some guys in the DT room who like what they’ve seen from him so far. They talk about how detailed he is and that he is always full of energy. Did a good job of pulling the room together after Bo left and getting buy in from everybody except one kid, but different opinions on what the real issue is that situation. Personality should help him recruit. More active than Bo but doesn’t have any draft skins to really lean on. He has to be able to get AC to a second day pick. That’s the big question competition is using against him right now, who has he developed.
  10. Brooks has some really good options if he will commit to playing safety full time. That’s where many coaches in the portal see his future. If he wants to be recruited at cornerback only his options are not that great.
  11. Happy for Austin Jordan and think TCU is a good landing spot for him. He can definitely play there. Now that it’s official, TCU and Baylor were the two schools who worked to get AJ into the portal. They both are recruiting Denton Ryan very hard and used the staff to make sure AJ knew he had a home and starting spot if he entered the portal. TCU is trying to create a pipeline into Denton Ryan. AJ will be the 2nd Ryan kid on the squad via the portal and they have a senior at Ryan who just committed as well.
  12. Scouts talking NIL is wild because there is also the flip side of that. If there wasn’t NIL to bring kids back for more development a lot of guys draft day would look very different. Plus the Covid year has been a blessing for kids. Several kids went top 3 rounds this year that greatly benefited from being able to play an extra year. Bo Nix doesn’t sniff first two rounds last year but goes 12 after using the extra year. Penix uses the extra year to show he can stay healthy and has a magical run. No way he is a first rounder with the extra year.
  13. At safety he has a feather in his cap. Recruited and developed a first rounder at Notre Dame.
  14. Look, I would be perfectly fine with firing one or both of the secondary coaches. But we also have to be real with ourselves, we basically started 4 safeties in the secondary last year. Watts will be a safety at the next level and that’s where Texas wanted to move him. Brooks was thought to be better at safety by most coaches who recruited him. Taffe is Taffe. we played Thompson and Crawford in big games and situations. Williams is a pure safety prospect
  15. Texas might have been in denial but it was always going to be pick which back up Star you wanted the most and lose the other. There is a Big 12 school who is recruiting a Denton Ryan kid really hard that also made sure the coaching staff knew they would welcome Austin with open arms and plenty of playing time. Ryan’s staff is pro Texas but they love their kids more. His family was very aware of the offer. It’s not a money issue, he just wants to play. Both Star players expected Barron to leave and for there to be an open competition for that spot. Barron comes back and that pushes back options for the kids. It’s business.
  16. He can recruit the hell out of Louisiana. He really should be a safety coach.
  17. I only speak on stuff I have direct knowledge about. I have no idea those two current recruitments. joseph can recruit. He just mixes better with certain personalities. That’s natural though. That’s why you have different types of recruiters on staff to help out.
  18. T Joseph doesn’t relate to certain types of personalities well.
  19. I’ll say this in regards to Brooks father and Coach Joseph. The issue that came up during Brooks freshman year was tied directly to how Joseph runs his room (rotations+playing time and how it’s communicated to the players) Some other coaches got involved because they related better to the family and solved the issues before the bowl game. In film breakdown towards the end of 2022 the coaches were grading out Brooks higher than other corners but the playing time wasn’t always reflecting that. When Jamison got back fully healthy, Jamison and his family expected him to return to the starting spot but Brooks family expected Brooks to continue to start because he had been playing well and grading out higher than Jamison. During Bowl practices the issue came to a head because Joseph was sending two different messages to each family and didn’t take the issue head on to be clear about the plan for bowl game rotations and who would start. Manny Muhammad’s family didn’t really vibe with Joseph either early during that recruitment. They felt like they talked to everybody except Joseph. Sark had to really get on him to get more involved because the family liked Texas and loved Jeff Banks but wasn’t sold on how much Joseph wanted Manny.
  20. Somebody who transferred in, may be transferring again. (Report) Expect a returning starter in the secondary to transfer.
  21. There was but that particular issue was put to bed before the Alamo Bowl vs Washington.
  22. I think Tapp would create problems for teams in the Big 12. He has a ton of potential, just had more guys in front of him at Texas. Hopes he finds a good home.
  23. With us taking two backs last year and looking really good for the 2026 running backs, I would actually prefer Texas to only take one back in this class. The two that have gotten the most attention are good backs, but nothing special.
  24. Nansen is going to single handily fix the DT depth issues if he can pull Toia and Norton to go with the DT he previously brought with him from Arizona.
