Man, I will say I’ve respected your opinion 100% thus far based on tried overlaps, but I’m not with you on this one. That stuff is fantastic in the 3 variations I’ve had. That said, I’ve seen as high as $260 personally, and it’s been tempting. I’ve currently got a 132.7 from TW and a 133.2, and I won’t part with them for anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Haha don’t ask don’t tell. No, I haven’t seen that happen (banning for inquiries). Most I’ve come across are really good about information, questions, and as many picks as you could want if you’ve got the time on the weekends. It’s the other releases that one person posts a comment/question about (usually a newbie whose new hobby is to acquire as many as possible regardless of consumption) that someone then provides the nuclear codes. I do always get a laugh out of the late trucks and mid-afternoon releases like Tilted Bottles’ store yesterday. Not because I personally got anything... but because all the jokers in their trucks or lawn chairs at 9am either left empty-handed 2-3 hours earlier, or they wasted extra time of their day having to wait around or come back. That’s funny. I think Dallas has the blessing (hey, it’s there!) and the curse (hey, gone!) of a lot of groups that post arrivals. No sense scouting, because your months of scouting/buying are shot in a single post. Disclaimer: Not a makers guy, but have actually come across some products I’ve liked in this lineup. I was aware of this one, but I haven’t come across it yet. Only the young stuff and had a little bit of a local barrel proof pick that a buddy picked up. For $35, the 100 proof is good compared to some of the other labels out there charging twice as much for the same contents. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah I haven’t placed an order yet, but I trust your review and will be picking one up this week. I’ve already bought 2 bottles of a store pick Presidential Dram, a Senator, and two 100 proof Tumbling Dice this week, so I decided I need to “wait until next week” to buy another bottle. This fiscal week is closed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It appears to be at scattered TW locations I just checked in the Dallas area, so there must be enough to trigger “in stock.” Not all of them though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’ve got a club that burned a bridge with a liquor store they were planning to “split” a pick with. Props to them. Hold your standards high. That said, this Presidential Dram store pick from Liquor King in Dallas is MGP goodness. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sometimes I hate myself and love myself at the same time. I was already a fan of TW’s recent Woodinville pick, so picked one of those up on the way out today (had to put it under my arm since hands were full). My reason for going was to get a gift for a friend’s birthday, but ended up buying this bad boy after trying it at a friends earlier today and seeing it on the shelf. Happy belly rub. Reminds me of a conversation I overheard at a restaurant a few years ago between a couple of girls in college: “He’s immature, he litters, and he took a picture with that girl.. I can’t be with a guy like that.” Definition of a couple of losers that are going to end up alone. #BringingItBack2Bourbon I wasn’t impressed the first night, but Rabbit Hole Cavehill has really come around on me the last couple nights. Nose is great, front-end is very mild, but the finish has a longer that I can’t place but man I like it a lot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Can’t speak to the JO but in a big fan of the Remus Repeal Reserve. Never had to I, but the II was good, and the III was fantastic. Went through several. Just haven’t gotten around to grabbing a IV yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Bottle killing at an alarming rate, even for me. We’ve been fortunate to maintain power more then most (until today at least), but when I woke up the other day cold and didn’t hear the pool pump running, I got up to start the fireplace for the family and got bundled up to go outside for a quick winterization or the pool equipment. Once bundled, the every smoke alarm started going batshit crazy, and then I realized my new 9V batteries from Amazon were individually wrapped. I moved my attention outside and did what could while fretting over the things I couldn’t address (underground floor system piping). The first whiskey of the day was poured into an Irish coffee at 8:57am that day, and the last was poured at 11:03pm. Living through history is a marathon.. not a sprint. Any of you vintage bourbon encyclopedias have any idea what this is? Found an unopened bottle and tried googling what it was. Closest I found out was one on a Pinterest page, but I can’t read the name on the original neck label that’s missing on mine. Just that it’s “8 year old Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey” or something. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You may recall I stumbled across a couple of 76/77 Gold Vein Weller at the grandmother-in-law’s house over Thanksgiving. Unfortunately we lost her about a week ago. MIL found another liquor cabinet and asked me to come take whatever or dispose of what’s left. Based on the bottle/label design and date of the gifting (wedding), I’ve narrowed it down to ‘46-‘51. When you’re shifting through the cabinet and see a little felt box in the back, is it possible to not say “What’s in the BOX??” out loud? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Right there with you on the Chardonnay. The port and cab I’ll buy in a heartbeat, but the between the tasting notes in the release and past experiences with white wine barrels, I think I’m out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Both are fantastic, but the Total Wine 132 Jack Daniels BP rye is better than the Specs and 133. I have no basis for my stance other than immediate feel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
