  1. According to this guy on Aggie 247, the answer is ... yes.
  2. So, who is the team to beat right now? Who is setting the bar heading into a busy offseason full of visits? Chase Calicut: "It's UT, for sure." Calicut is 6-3, 190 ... Texas Official Visit June 13th. Top suitors starting to emerge for Top247 defensive back Chace Calicut Tom Loy (247 Sports)
  3. (Fuck, fuckity fuck - was almost done, when the editor crashed. Had to redo the whole thing ... so be sure to read the damn thing twice!) All, 247/Tom Loy published an update on the recruitment of every prospect in the new Top 247. (Yep, all 247 of them ... ) This list may be an interesting reference for a point in time, to revisit. I've divvied the list up into the following sections: - Texas is the favorite - Texas specifically called out - Texas is a contender - The full list (spoilered, at the end) Have fun. (Also - this comment cracked me up - "#8. LB Xavier Griffin (USC commit): Everyone, myself included, felt as though this would be the typical early USC commit from Georgia who ends up elsewhere. " Lulz.) Texas is the favorite Texas specifically called out ("Don't sleep on ... ") Texas is a contender The full list Football recruiting intel on each 2026 Top247 prospect: What we're hearing on every player in updated rankings Here's the latest college football recruiting intel on every player ranked in Wednesday's 2026 Top247 update. 4. Thanks. Yep, even for those guys, this seemed pretty dopey.
  5. - First, some comments from Dia Bell, at the UA event in Miami (from a Brian Dohn article. In this color/font.) I think they're as candid, clear, and reasonable as one can expect. As mentioned, Bell — of Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage — committed to Texas last June, but programs continued to make runs at him. Lately, Bell said, Ohio State, Georgia and LSU have been in contact, and he is speaking with them. "I still take their calls," he said. "I like to hear what they have to say because, in the world we live in, college football coaches can end up anywhere the next day. "So I have to make sure I keep in contact with those coaches in case anything goes sideways, but my heart is in Texas and it will be as long as coach (Steve) Sark(isian) and (quarterbacks coach AJ) Milwee are there." Bell made it clear that he is committed to Texas and only speaking to those schools because, with all the movement in college athletics, one of them could be coaching him in the future. He has no plans to make other visits. Bell is working on a spring visit date, but he will officially visit Texas June 20-22. - I think most reasonable people (and if there is one trait that applies to EVERYONE on Surly, it's reasonableness ... lulz) understand that there's some chance of a loyal recruit decommitting, esp. if key coaches leave. (Would rather not have seen Milwee's name included there as a requirement, but its also a compliment to him.) But then, saw these comments from a couple of staff members on the LSU board, after the Dohn article. Without even getting into other issues (the disparity in depth charts, for instance, when comparing Ohio State and Texas), no idea whether any of this has an ounce of credence, or basis in specific information. @closetojumping - other than the scenario where Sark/Milwee leave - anything else to be concerned about? Bell and family have seemed as solidly and visibly pro-Texas as possible.
  6. Cross-posting as an FYI, for those who may not look at the 2025 NFL Draft thread on the Football Board.
  7. First post was after their baseball loss yesterday. Highlight in burnt orange ... for no reason at all. 🤣 🤣 🤣 Tarp comes up with the solution. (Love the highlighted portion, in particular ... yeah, Aggies, you should do that. In the middle of an arms race, do more with less. Think out of the box. And lower expectations ... lulz.) And what better way to end, than a thoughtful, cogent response to Tarp's article, from CWilly1310? (See highlight ... )
  8. Typos, BAS, Daddy outs himself, potshot at Texas, despair, gallows humor ... it's all here, folks.
  9. Sonny Shipp (LSU 247 mod)
  10. @Elmer_Fudd - Hank's note on the Berymon CB.
  11. FYI, KJ Edwards is the #2 RB in the country now.
  12. From Horns 247: ***************************************************** ON SAMARI MATTHEWS "Throughout the night" made me chuckle ... but good to read this. ***************************************************************************** ON KJ EDWARDS Top100 prospect KJ Edwards hears from new Texas RB coach Chad Scott Hank South (Horns 247) New Texas running backs coach Chad Scott reached out to four-star ball carrier KJ Edwards on Sunday to introduce himself. After the call the Carthage (Texas) product says his June 6-8 official visit to the Forty Acres is still on the schedule. "He liked what he saw on my tape," Edwards told Horns247. "He considers me a triple-threat RB. I can run the ball, catch the ball, and block." Recruits are getting to know the new Texas assistant, who had been at West Virginia since 2019. "He sounds like he knows what he's doing at the RB position," Edwards said. Baylor, SMU, and Texas A&M are also involved for Edwards along with Texas. All four programs are expected to host him for official visits. "[Texas is] still one of my top schools as long as they reach out and communicate," Edwards said. The in-state back says he's going to talk with Scott more about potentially visiting in the spring as well. At 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, Edwards is ranked the No. 3 running back and the No. 51 overall player in the country, per 247Sports. As a junior he rushed for 1,789 yards and 23 touchdowns, while catching 30 passes for 383 yards and three additional scores. ********************************************************************************** ON CHRIS STEWART @Elmer_Fudd Detailed note and posts from Scruggs below; here's the net: - if Texas offers Stewart's DB bro, that will likely seal the deal for the them/Texas; very unlikely that Texas will offer his bro - else, he may likely go w/ one of the (currently) 3 programs that have offered both of them - SMU, Arizona State, OKlahoma - likely SMU Here's Stewart's official visit schedule in order: SMU (May 2-4), Miami (May 30-June 1), Arizona State (June 6-8), Texas (June 13-15), and Tennessee (June 20-22). Stewart also told Horns247 that while he doesn't have dates quite yet, he is currently planning on taking an official visit to Norman at some point to see Oklahoma. Here's Scruggs' full note on the Stewart recruitment.
  13. Lulz. Kirby takes a shot at Manziel ... and guess who's - a nod to the poster above - butthurt about it? Tweet w/ video: https://x.com/On3sports/status/1894090692059939218
  14. WILTFONG: - Raving about Dia Bell - loves his CB for Felix Ojo to end up at Texas - thinks that if Kodi Greene flips (from Oregon), Texas has the best chance to do that. (Greene said the same thing to Tom Loy (247) a week or so ago, while talking about other schools " ... it's mostly Texas. That's the big one.") - Greene's current OVs - Oregon (June 6th), Texas (June 13th).
  15. (Edit - adding tweet. 247 note below.) !!! No. 1 TE Mark Bowman schedules Texas official visit Will Turboff (Horns 247) While the nation's No. 1 tight end was initially expected to make the short trip to USC on June 6-8, his amended schedule now has him returning to Austin that weekend. After his sole gameday visit to date, Bowman said "they're number one for sure" when speaking about Texas to Horns247.
