  1. Somewhere around 45% of US imports are of intermediate goods - components that go into end goods produced by US companies. Out of the top countries from which the US imports intermediate goods, Canada is No. 1 and Mexico is No. 2. While Mexican and Canadian companies might absorb some of the costs increases of the tariffs, much of the cost will be fronted, directly or indirectly, by US companies and their end users.
  2. Only an unpopular opinion in places outside of Texas with mediocre barbecue.
  3. From San Antonio Express-News story re: 2M and Castroville BBQ:
  4. I remember so little about season one other than I enjoyed it. I'll probably rewatch the final episode just to get my bearings.
  5. Tempted to go see him at the Austin Rodeo in March. I saw him twice in 2022 when he was on his final tour - glad to see he's not done and more happy to see that he's embraced sobriety.
  6. I think you will probably live. I don't think I would stay that close to the freeway due to the noise. If you are driving, I hope it has off-street parking.
  7. Where is Ralph the Swimming Pig when you need him?
  8. Castroville Barbecue Company
  9. I hate manufactured fouls.
  10. They are painful to watch this year.
  11. The only way to stop another team's run is to throw 3 point bricks until one goes in.

Finished the episode today. Sufficient information to be annoying at parties - much like vegans or triathletes.

Cascante, Vaisanen, Hines-Ike, and Svatok. Probably serviceable unless there is a season ending injury.
  14. It would seem so, but no. They are some of the best due to being cooked perfectly and having a flavorful, stout bark. The sauce is a negative for me. It's not a sweet barbecue sauce, but more like a simple syrup.
  15. I get burned on that at Mum Foods. They have some of the best ribs, but they squirt a little sweet sauce on them right before serving. I always remember that right as I sit down with my tray.
  16. Sorry for your loss, Brisket. I lost my dad 20 years ago when he was merely 60. I thought about him yesterday. I thought about him this morning, even before reading your beautiful tribute. Fishing was the great bond between us as well. My father was not a patient man, especially with young Jerry's anticks and attitude. The most patient I ever saw my father was when we were fishing. I remember as a young kid tossing my lure right into a tree, again and again; expecting unapproving looks or words that never came. I remember getting to go trout fishing in sub-zero temps and bitching about being cold the entire time, then being invited out again the next day. As my dad was dying, I helped him down to the dock and carried him into the boat for our last fishing trip - we caught fish due to his lessons over the 30+ previous years. I shed tears this morning for you, your father, me, and my father.
  17. I've prevailed in more than one case based upon information gathered from social media accounts. People are idiots.
  18. We watched the first two episodes last night. Intriguing enough to keep watching. Is it considered a series or limited series? Seems like the type of story that would do well as a limited series and get old as a full series.
  19. My kids, 20 and 21, had never heard of Bluesky when I asked them about it on Sunday.
  20. We stayed a little farther down on St. Charles in April. I think I confine walking to the Garden District between St. Charles and Magazine. You can cover many miles up St. Charles and back down Prytania. Walking the Garden District and looking at the bad ass old houses is one of my favorite things to do in NO.
  21. The Rod Stewart story goes back to at least the 80s.
  22. That's quite a drive. You'd be better off hitting those places when you're in Austin.
  23. That owl ain't fucking around with puns.
  24. The X-REAS system often fails between 40-60k, ours started leaking about 65k. Apparently the vehicle won't ride correctly without replacing shocks and coil springs all the way around. I got a quote to replace the X-REAS with a new X-REAS for $4200 and a quote to replace with SR5 shocks and coils for $3000.
