  1. Wasn't tough - taste and consistency of a sirloin steak. The flat iron was very tender and seasoned just like a brisket. You can see the flat iron on my plate and both on the tray.
  2. They do and there are probably short lines. However, I believe it is a reduced menu. They didn't have the daily specials of brisket or bacon ribs yesterday.
  3. Hit LeRoy and Lewis Barbecue's new brick and mortar yesterday. Got there around 11:30 and it was a two hour wait. Probably the busiest time of the entire week. They have an "Anytime Eats" menu which can be ordered at the bar with no line, no waiting. Burgers, sandwiches, sausage wraps, onion rings, etc. Some people ordered from this menu to eat while in line. Regular by-the-pound menu regular items were sliced beef, chopped beef, pulled whole hog, direct smoked chicken, and sausages. Daily specials of beef cheeks on Fridays; brisket and bacon ribs on Saturdays; and pork chops, beef barbacoa, and lamb barbacoa on Sundays. I talked with Evan who was on the cutting board. Sliced beef was either flat iron or chuck roast. Flat iron tasted like brisket and chuck roast was more like smoked steak. Both were very good. I ordered the two meat plate with sliced beef, whole hog, Caesar slaw, and kimchi. My buddy ordered the Pitmaster's Platter which has both types of sliced beef, whole hog, two types of sausage, cauliflower burnt ends, miso glazed carrot, and a bunch of sides.
  4. Pro tip: if you ever get put in a mental institution - act like you're crazy and then get better. Acting like you're not crazy doesn't work.
  5. The wife has a 2018 4Runner Limited with the X-REAS system. Needs replacing and I am not paying to replace that. Anyone here converted to regular shocks like Bilsteins?
  6. Although I never owned any Culture Club albums, I appear to know the lyrics to most of their songs. Lyrics that I will belt out in the car if a song comes up on 80s on 8.
  7. There is enough room in the timeline to do another movie between the Chalamet movie and the Wilder movie. However, the older Wonka is considerably more cynical and I'm not sure I want to see that evolution. Oompa Loompas fleeing the vermicious knids could be interesting, though.
  8. Don't ever assume that a restaurant is serving local seafood.
  9. Vietnamese catfish is all too often substituted for other fish filets - farm raised catfish, sole, grouper, . . . Only fish I order out is Patagonian toothfish.
  10. I got that album when it came out in '78 - a few years prior to even seeing the movie. I remember some kids doing Greased Lightening at an elementary talent show when I was in 3rd grade.
  11. James Beard Awards Finalists announced yesterday. Apropos to this thread: Convenience West, Marfa - finalist for Outstanding Restaurant Barbs-B-Q, Lockhart - finalist for Best New Restaurant
  12. The attorney will need to attend some in-person hearings. Also, local knowledge of the probate court is a plus. I would suggest getting a Bexar County attorney.
  13. When I was a kid, my parents had one of Steve Martin's comedy albums. To this day, I can quote most of the bits. In fact, there were several cuts in the documentary which I knew immediately. My college-aged daughters (no pics) really like Only Murders in the Building. I love the fact that they can appreciate Steve Martin and Martin Short, too.
  14. When he's old enough, have him get a job at HEB. My daughter (no pics) worked there her senior year in high school, goes on LOA while she is away at college, picks up shifts over school breaks and summer, and gets two partner discount cards. 10% off HEB branded items which includes most chicken and beef. The discount card works even while she is on LOA. Over holiday weekends, the discount card goes to 25% off.
  15. I'm waiting for Hill Country Fare version.
  16. Your friend needs to hire an attorney for the estate.
  17. Based upon putt's content contributions in other forums, spin the bottle.
  18. Japanese riddle talkers. I rarely know wtf they're talking about.
  19. I only watched last night's episode. How many did those moron twins actually make it through? I'm impressed that they were actually able to get themselves on a plane to South America.
  20. Headed to NOLA tomorrow for a long weekend. Staying in the Garden District and will be avoiding the Quarter except for Easter Brunch at Arnaud's. Looking for causal places to sit down, chill, and listen to live music. Any recommendations for places off of St. Charles, Magazine, or other places?
  21. I curse you on behalf of Flaco Jimenez.
  22. I don't think that's his hood. If it was, he'd probably have some daguerreotypes he could share.
  23. Ribbee's - pork or beef back rib box for $20. Not sure when I'll be in that area, but I'll definitely check it out.
