  1. No complaints. There where several other chili adjacent mixtures with beans and other stuff. One vegan, two vegetarian, one vegetarian with India spices, one white chicken chili, one turkey chili, and a couple really spicy mixtures with all kinds of stuff in there. It was a fun evening. Browning 18# of chuck in the oven was the way to go. Three batches in large foil pans took about 35-40 minutes each.
  2. Yep. Neighborhood holiday party. Signed up to bring 5 gallons of chili.
  3. Big Ass Pot of Chili on and simmering. 12# course ground chuck, 3 onions, 12 cloves garlic, 12T san antonio chili powder, 8T cumin, crushed tomatoes, beef broth, and cayenne pepper.

  5. I'd pull up to my fishing spot before dawn with rod rigged and ready to go, fly boxes, waders, wading boots, net, tippet spools and various other accoutrement only to realize my fishing license was sitting a home. I never leave the house without my wallet, therefore I never forget my fishing license.
  6. Tackle box. That's cute.
  7. Planning on going down on Sunday morning. Might break out some streamers.
  8. We have a bunch of purple ground cover plants here outside the office. These plants fall into a variety of the Tradescantia species which are collectively known as wandering Jew. I saw that some have started referring to them as wandering dude. Does anyone really care if they continue to be referred to as wandering Jew?
  9. Rubbing it in will lead to an extended period of rubbing it out.
  10. That's funny. Someone's job was to book as many bands with witch in their name for Saturday.
  11. Why is it called a bifold when it only has one fold? Trifold only has two folds?
  12. My truck has wing windows and a kick panel vent I can open by pulling the fresh air vent knob.
  13. Chili will be served along side of cornbread, cheese, onions, fritos, and tamales.
  14. See what they carry by way of fish spatulas.
  15. Small bifold that fits in my front pocket. Holds driver's license, hunting license, Costco card, AAA card, bar card, mini YMCA card, HEB valued partner perks card, health insurance card, dental insurance card, debit card, two credit cards, and some cash.
  16. I'm sure I've eaten ice cream for dinner before - so yes.
  17. I think they will provide an HEB gift card after the fact to cover some expenses, but I know I'll spend more than that. Karen has already signed up for white chicken chili, whatever the hell that is. Someone else is doing his famous Helter Swelter chili.
  18. I haven't even wrapped my head around making 5 gallons of chili. I suppose I'll brown all of the meat first in batches and then either use my boiling pot with the propane burner or split it into a couple large pots on the stove. I should have signed up to just bring cornbread.
  19. This coming Saturday, I've been tasked with providing 5 gallons of chili for the neighborhood holiday party. I usually make Texas red with dried chilies and cubes of chuck roast. I can't imagine dealing with the numbers of chilies and chuck roast to make the amount I need for this event. Any suggestions of simpler other recipes? Also thinking about some chuck roast and some ground beef - obviously adding the ground beef toward the end of the cook.
