  1. Currently watching Taco Mafia on PBS. Limited series about 3-4 small restaurants in Austin. I have some new joints to check out.
  2. I've watched the first two episodes. They are to coolest animals on the planet.
  3. I've seen several concerts in the summer out at germania without a problem. Sun is down and there is usually a breeze out there.
  4. I picked up two $25 tickets to Santana and Counting Crows and two to Maggie Rogers for the wife. Pink, who she really wants to see, was already out of the $25 tickets. As was Kings of Leon.
  5. Looks like the problem resolved itself.
  6. Being on salary has its benefits.
  7. I don't know anything Dua Lipa sings, but I suspect it will be a revealing show - both on and off the stage.
  8. I saw the Combustion Inc. thermometer on sale the other day and was ready to pull the trigger. Only to find out there are two other similar thermometers on the market now - Meater 2 plus and Thypur Sync. Watched a handy review video and decided to get the Thypur. The Thypur was $159 on their website, plus a 10% discount for giving them my email address. Can't wait to try it out.
  9. That was on my radar, but so was a high likelihood of storms. Decided not to go. Sounds like it turned out well.
  10. When my daughter went to UTSA in 2021, they required summer classes as well. Due to covid, the classes were online, though.
  11. There are most certainly personal guarantees on some if not most of the debt. Also, some tax liability and department of labor liability could have personal ramifications.
  12. My oldest CAPed into UT and is majoring in economics with a minor in business. Just recently they added a BS econ degree under the school of liberal arts with is much more math intensive. Might not be McCombs, but a BS in econ with a business minor will give a kid many of the same courses. Youngest wants to be a PT. When she was CAPed, she chose Texas State to major in biology instead. As to the question about best CAP school - there are tiers with USTA and UTA being the highest, not all kids get that option. Some CAPed kids have to chose UT Tyler, UTRGV, or UTEP instead.
  13. Yep. Cedar Park had Winkley's at the SE corner of 183 and 1431 (1431 didn't go east to I-35 until the early 80s) and the Fast Car Bar in the 1980s. I suspect Cyndi's property was lovely before they knocked everything down for her neighborhood.
  14. While it might not be far off, I detect a bit of sarcasm in futureman's post. I don't believe Black Gold has released a menu as of yet.
  15. I taught both daughters in my suburban. They can park anything anywhere. Parallel parking is the last thing to learn. With my youngest, I told her to google parallel parking to get an idea before we went to practice. She nailed it first time and I never had to teach anything. I would suggest you google some parking videos. Find one that is simple and uses visual clues (line up side mirror, etc.). Once you find one that you are comfortable with, sit down and watch it with her.

    Austin FC

Happy with a point on the road against a top 3 team. Nearly zero offense - much like some of the earlier losses and draws. Pleased that they have a fairly strong defense.

A jockey wearing Verde and black won the Kentucky Derby. ¡LISTOS!
  18. It looks like a brand new building. It might not have been finished out at all.
  19. Hit up Burnt Bean Co. Barbecue today. Arrived about 9:50 and we were the second couple in line. Picture below was at 10:15. Moist brisket, pork ribs, poblano and jack cheese sausage, green beans, coleslaw, queso mac & cheese, and bacon tater casserole. Overall a great meal. Sausage was a really good combination. Brisket was seasoned and cooked perfect. Ribs were a little over for me, but were extremely flavorful. I prefer ribs were you can take a bite without the meat falling off the bone. Many people believe that falling off the bone is the sign of perfectly cooked ribs. Burnt Bean is definitely top 10, probably top 5. I think InterStellar BBQ is better, but not by much.
  20. I doubt that Inkind really wants to be running a barbecue joint. They will have the same issues as Valentina's - costs, labor, customer base. They're likely trying to recoup as much of their investment as possible. They probably want to sell it, but I suspect they'll have to shut it down eventually.
  21. I will say that I'd been picking up on that vibe, though. Some overarching mission of the group he is associated with. Several times it was mentioned that the mission was to observe. Sugar never worried about his ability to get through situations where he was clearly the underdog. Stops attack dogs by simply looking and whispering. Not too concerned about internal injuries when impaled by a 9" chef's knife. Fluent in all the languages.
  22. Don't you think most of that stuff takes a back seat to the fact that he's actually an alien? Also, bad guys got the helper before the ten minutes expired. It was always going to take more than ten minutes anyway. He had at least a three minute walk from his car to the house.
  23. Same. Before the Star Wars prequels came out, we wanted to show the original trilogy to our kids. We had a VHS box set of the original trilogy. Ended up finding a VCR at Goodwill for $3.50. Still have it. I have a 1989 Trek hybrid hanging in my garage. I used it for my first triathlon in 2009/2010. 1969 Chevy C10 that I drive every week. I have and still use early 1950's Belgium made Browning A5 shotguns in 12 and 20 gauge. Nikon N4004 35mm camera that I got sometime in the 80s.
