  1. Not that big of a deal if you have moves like Neo or Jackie Chan. I'm probably closer to Kung Fu Panda, though.
  2. I'll have to give those a try. I like to put jalapeno pimento cheese or guacamole on pork rinds like tortilla chips. The plain HEB bags are only about 30% good for that.
  3. Yeah. The overly mesquite smoked brisket point was cut with the grain if you need a picture. I've had Cooper's and its terrible as well. It was not my idea to eat barbecue in Junction, I was heading out on a fishing trip with a group. If you have to eat in Junction, go to the Junction Burger Company. I was impressed with the meal I had there a couple years ago.
  4. I have to save this line for future Surly post and maybe even future strongly worded letters:
  5. I struck an engineer in a federal case a few years ago. Just happened to be the only black person in the panel and the Plaintiff was black. Judge Sparks took us back to chambers for a sua sponte Batson challenge. I started to explain that he was struck because he was an engineer and the Plaintiff's attorney cut me off with his agreement. No one wants engineers on the jury.
  6. Lum's in Junction is terrible.
  7. I did beef chuck and pork tenderloin the last time and the beef was tender well before the pork. I don't think I'll combine the two in the future.
  8. I haven't. The only reason I would entertain adding brown sugar would be if the close to finished chili turned out way too bitter.
  9. I tried Pinkerton's once in 2017 and it was on a day that I hit a few places. Nothing really stood out for me. I had Pinkerton's in SA a couple years ago and was really impressed. I just don't have any reason to be in Houston anymore. Tejas remains one of my top 5 favorite places in Texas. Soccer games and swim meets landed us in the Tomball area several times and each time we had Tejas. My wife was talking with Michelle Holland from Tejas on Sunday and told her that Tejas turned our kids into barbecue snobs.
  10. Pit Room was my second favorite Houston area barbecue joint in 2017 - behind Tejas. Pork ribs in the picture look a bit over cooked for my taste, though.
  11. Instant read thermometers have taken all of the guess work out of bakeryeroticism.
  12. At this point, 27ish years, I look for experiences as opposed to things. Weekend in NOLA, concert tickets, etc. A couple years ago, I gave her a day at COTA with the Audi driving experience.
  13. I sampled eight different barbecue joints yesterday. Probably had something to do with the Texas womens soccer Big XII championship.
  14. Ours were 22 months apart. It is a beating in the beginning but levels out later. It was nice that they were close enough in age that they enjoyed the same things.
  15. Send him down to Lockhart on Sunday and he can sample barbecue from 40 of the TM Top 50 at the TM BBQ Fest.
  16. I haven't tried it. Have you ever ground chiles as opposed to rehydrated? It seems like it would be basically the same end result. I know that with a Vitamix, I get 100% of the pepper in the mix.
  17. This recipe from Texas Monthly showed up in my feed yesterday. It looks like it uses dry chiles, but they are ground into a powder as opposed to rehydrating. Anyone here tried it?
  18. Where is this female beach?
  19. Old George Washington Carver recipe. He loved legumes, but would never put beans in chili.
