  1. I was told to place it about 2 fingers down from the elbow and not to cinch it down too hard.
  2. No shit. The answer to your question of how to fuck up chili is (1) use ground turkey or (2) add beans.
  3. I was just answering your question. My chili consists this:
  4. Or toast. You can use a loaf of bread and cover the entire surface. Easy to tell hot spots and cold spots. Also, easy to tell if the heat is from above or below.
  5. You're not the boss of us.
  6. This one came from the CO-OP. They were taking preorders for a day and a half before shutting it down.
  7. The wife and I were going walking at the park a couple months ago. She did a little stretching as if we were going running. Mockingly, I did some windmill toe touches . . . and . . . pulled my back.
  8. That's pretty cool. For some reason, I haven't been sold on the Meater. I wish Fireboard Labs would do a wireless temp probe that would sink to their unit.
  9. Email today from ThermoWorks: For the past couple of years, while the industry has been increasing prices, we’ve held off on increasing the price of Thermapen® ONE. In fact, in September 2022, we lowered the price of Thermapen ONE to help fight inflation. But now rising costs are forcing us to raise the price a modest amount. Effective October 12th, 2023, the price of Thermapen ONE will increase to $109.00. Take advantage this month—before the increase—and order a Thermapen ONE in time for big holiday meals and Christmas gifts. In fact, we’re currently running a 30% off special on Thermapen ONE in Red, Yellow, and Orange.
  10. We upgraded to AT&T fiber a couple years ago from AT&T UVerse. AT&T fiber has had very few issues. You might check to see if it is available where you are. Now we stream everything with YTTV as the main platform. Plus Hulu, Netflix, Apple TV+, Disney, Max . . .
  11. I went to a concert at the unairconditioned Travis County Expo Center in the summer of 1988 or 1989. Run-DMC was the headliner with DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, EPMD, Stetasonic, and Public Enemy opening. I loved Run-DMC, but Public Enemy blew me away. Waiting in line to get in and Flavor Flav walked up. He asked me to give him a boost over the wall to get in. Yeah, boyeeee!
  12. Think you'll fit right in.
  13. $42. Brisket was $32 per pound and the sausage links were $4.50 each. I don't remember the price for the pork ribs or the sides. What I had today was not to the level of Truth, Evie Mae's, Franklin, Interstellar, Reese Bros., Burnt Bean, Terry Blacks, or Micklethwait. It was good barbecue that I would recommend to anyone, especially if they want the true Texas barbecue experience.
  14. Found myself at a meeting in Taylor this morning - which means lunch at Louie Mueller Barbecue. Got there about 10 til Noon and walked right up to order. Most times there is a longer, slow line. They have changed the ordering system which might make it faster. Picked up a half pound moist brisket, a pork rib, two links of sausage, coleslaw, and green beans. Green beans were just like momma used to make - dumped out of a can. I like their savory coleslaw with a black pepper bite, although I prefer places that add the dressing to fresh cabbage. Pork rib was tasty, but a little to fall off the bone for me. Brisket was seasoned and smoked well. Not seasoned as much as the new school stuff, but good nonetheless. The flat portion was a little dry. Didn't crack the casings on the sausage but will tonight for dinner. All in all, it was a good barbecue lunch. Not to the level of Texas' top joints, but pretty good. For me, Louie Mueller is one of the best barbecue locations in Texas. I love the history, the smoke stained walls, the creaky screen doors, and the largeness of the building that holds the entire operation: tables, chairs, counter, cutting tables, and smokers. I rarely pass up an opportunity to drop in for lunch.
  15. Looks pretty good. Needs to be in the All things brisket thread, though.
  16. Ask @hornian, he's the probate lawyer. I was thinking there was a small estate to distribute as well. If he is the beneficiary of the policy, then this should be really simple (after the internet attorneys get their cut).
  17. Damn. Cool looking, though.
  18. Assuming in Texas - young Western ratsnake. Skull on the back of the head. I don't think gray ratsnakes come this far west.
  19. My dad packed Brussel sprouts in my lunch on day in sixth grade. He thought it was hilarious. Not me, you could get beat up for eating something like that. I had a friend who got nailed because there was a rumor he wore dinosaur pajamas.
